"Always sleeping apps" is a great feature to have! That's the sort of thing that reviewers need to mention! Can you explain about why wireless charging would extend your battery life? I thought the extra heat that wireless charging creates would degrade batteries faster than plug-in charging would.
Charging wirelessly overnight is better because once your phone reaches 100%, the wireless charger will stop charging the battery. So it is impossible to overcharge your phone.
Any decent charger (wireless or adapter based) will have circuitry to recognize a completed charge cycle and will switch to a "trickle or float" mode to simply keep the battery topped off. You can purchase a USB Watt/Amp digital inline display to see this happen in real time, and also help diagnose a bad cable/charging adapter. Anytime you push a battery to charge fast, it will generate heat from the extra "juice" you're pushing through it. Heat is not good for batteries, and degrades it's lifespan and efficiency. Ideally you never should charge/use a battery when it's hot from recent drainage/charge and vice-verse. Of course we live in a "now" society and just want our devices to operate, so most people simply don't care or know.
In theory you always want to be gentle on a battery. You are correct - Fast charging with your adaptive charger is wonderful, but it puts stress on the battery with heat from the battery due to the quick charge. Wireless Fast Charging puts less stress on the battery due to a slower charge rate, and of course less heat. A battery that is never fast charged compared to one that's always fast charged, after time will hold it's charge more efficiently. Wireless fast charging will always be slower than a directly connected fast charge, until we make a major jump in battery tech. As battery chemistry improves, charge times will be astounding, and the factors above won't be quite as burdensome on batteries.
I have a question, how do you use fast charging on the note 8? Because im using the normal charger that came in the box and i dont know if im using fasy charging all the time...
Just upgraded from s5 s6 s7 s8 and note 8 I'm in love whit this note 8 the best ever phone from Samsung. Actually watching this on my note 8 love it 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you! My Note8 has been delivered to my local Sprint store, and I'm just waiting to be able to pick it up. In the meantime, I just did this on my Note5 😊
Ok, I am very curious and a bit bummed. Got my phone yesterday, but it's showing that I only have 2.6/6 gigs of RAM available for use. Why is that? I've closed the background apps and optimized my phone. The phone is running FASTER after making the suggested changes in this video. But the RAM still bothers me. How do I free up the RAM?
That's the apps eating it up . Delete unessesary apps and apps you do not use and you will not in the future .👍 I have like 48.2 gb storage and 3.2 gigs of ram available.
Great review as usual. Wish I could follow you in this one to set up my Note but I have no idea when I'm going to get it. Seems like all other Sellers from Samsung through the carriers here in the US have either sent them or they're on their way and some have received them. I made the mistake of buying from Best Buy and nobody there and knows nothing. Calling them is a waste of time because the dummies that answer the phones don't know anything. Last time I'm ever going to buy from Worst Buy
Ehh..not really the best battery saving tips as they seem to be high level and probably won't save all that much juice using them. Disabling Google Location, Google Backups, and Samsung backups is what did the best to minimize my idle drain.
So good video but I got 2 Questions the first is what exactly does the first thing you did do ? Second question is Why Wireless charging would extend the battery life? Would be grateful for answer :)
Matthew Moscotto not as much stress on your battery. Like quickcharging vs regular charging. Quickcharging makes the battery warmer since its pushing more energy trough
That's not true. Wireless charging creates more heat therefore decreases the lifespan. Actual battery life should be exactly the same if charged to same percentage.
Not really. It's just an option. I always do that with my phones, but not everybody cares about it that much. Just think about all the iPhone users who have to wait through all the slow animations and have no option to speed it up. Think about the iphones that were around 5 or 6 years ago! The animations would have been torture for me but other people must take it all in stride.
I've had my note 8 for a few days and my available ram is staying around 1 to 1.5 gigs. This is close to what I had on my S8. How is this possible seeing the note has 6 gigs of RAM?
Why is wireless charging over night "the best for the battery" ? Can you please explain? I always thought wireless charging produces more head and that is the worst for a battery.
Sir my device name is Samsung Galaxy Note 8 i use this since 1 month ....the device care shows battery life....learning usuage patterns....it shows since 1 month its no shows 1 h and 32 min etc ....how can i solve this
I am using note 8 from last one week I was getting 8 hours of screen time but since last 2 days I am only getting 5 hours of screen time.. android system is consuming to much of battery.. I wipe chache and also did all the tips u suggest still not getting the old 8 hours screen time in single charge..let me know how to fix it Secondly can I use one plus dash charger to charge my phone as it charges faster than Samsung quick charger.. what u suggest.. ? Please reply to both my queries.. Thanks..
Mahaveer Enterprises no, dont use it ,it wont work cause Quick Charge uses high voltage (5V/2A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.67A) to quickly charge the device, Dash Charger uses high current (5V/4A) to deliver it. So it wont work.
Sir in this video ua battery percenage is 28 and it's showing 6hr plus expected battery life... Mine is 90% and still showing 11 hr of battery accuracy... Plzzz reply to my question...
What is the issue if like most of my apps are loading extremely slow almost to point of error .. ? Its really pissing me off. Everything he been running so smooth for 2 months .. $900 phone should not be acting up.. and I have zero games crap, etc.. .
Great tips! Appreciate it. Two questions: do you answer people's questions? And, do you eat a bowl of raisin ritalin bunches for breakfast? Just kidding - you get a lot out in a short period of time!
Ok so I did the developer options but it doesn't show up on my phone. I tried to do it again and it says. Developer options already enabled. Can Any one help me?
Keda Wood Dye You don't need these antivirus apps on Android. There's very little chance you'd actually catch a virus on an Android. Just keep your phone updated to the latest security patch and don't install sketchy apps.
Sea Horsey Go into settings and change the view options to "simplified list". It comes up that way. It doesn't work like the unlocked models because you have to manually put apps to sleep and so forth.
Please help any one order the Samsung note 8 unlocked from Samsung and are with AT&T my note 8 is not getting any 4G/LTE signal I called AT&T they told me some APN and the best status I get is H and sometimes I get H+ and I had never seen that and I looked online and H/H+ is 3.5G yes close to 4g but not close to lte they are telling the IMEI is not coming up as a note 8 but I called Samsung and they told me everything on their end is fine the IMEI is registered as a note 8 so if any one has any idea on how to get the regular AT&T signal would be awesome 4g/lte they also told me is because they don't guaranteed unlocked phones to work on there lte service but that seem really stupid to me 1st unlocked phone I ever buy is looking like I will never buy one again
Damn need a little more energy Ricky . You are a great reviewer just a thought . Other than that always great work . Just speed up that intro a little bit and see how it sound ..
Samsung should include dark them for settings and everything else to save battery

I've had some bad Best Buy experiences as well with preorders. I avoid them for anything that might require good customer service.
Pre-ordered my Unlocked Note 8 day one from bestbuy.com. Got my shipping confirmation yesterday and it's arriving today.
What Samsung theme are you using in this video? Please and thank you
Great vid... Noe if we can find a fix for the connectivity issues.
Ehh..not really the best battery saving tips as they seem to be high level and probably won't save all that much juice using them. Disabling Google Location, Google Backups, and Samsung backups is what did the best to minimize my idle drain.
Nice tips. Just did this onto my s8+. Works like a charm. Just one question, how do you come back out of the developer option? Thanks.
No need to come out. Doesn't effect anything
You recommend uninstalling Lookout but do you feel that a replacement is necessary? If so which one?
robonik313 Google Play Protect
So good video but I got 2 Questions the first is what exactly does the first thing you did do ? Second question is Why Wireless charging would extend the battery life? Would be grateful for answer :)
your the best , thx
Thx so much
@theyoutubetechguy do you still prefer Nova over the stock system? I always find myself going back to Nova...
+Gary R I'm reaching my point where I'm about to switch to Nova lol
Why do they still have videos about Samsung galaxy view 2 if it is discontinued. I want to buy this tablet. Isnt there one available SOME WHERE?
why would wireless charging help battery life? what's the difference between the phone being plugged or wirelessly charged?
Matthew Moscotto not as much stress on your battery. Like quickcharging vs regular charging. Quickcharging makes the battery warmer since its pushing more energy trough
That's not true. Wireless charging creates more heat therefore decreases the lifespan. Actual battery life should be exactly the same if charged to same percentage.
How to improve note 8 battery and performance? We're paying $1,000! They should have done the job!
Not really. It's just an option. I always do that with my phones, but not everybody cares about it that much. Jason Dranoff good question

I always thought wireless charging produces more head and that is the worst for a battery.
Thanks for this video, you said to preserve the battery you should invest in a wireless battery charger, why that? Cable charger ruin the battery?
Okay, just read the answer in the comments below as someone already asked, once 100% is reached, it stops charging, thanks
Isn't it enabling video enhancer will consume more battery?
Sir my device name is Samsung Galaxy Note 8 i use this since 1 month ....the device care shows battery life....learning usuage patterns....it shows since 1 month its no shows 1 h and 32 min etc ....how can i solve this

And these tips will work on an Unlocked Note 8 ????

Why does wireless charging prolong battery life?
Ok so I did the developer options but it doesn't show up on my phone. I tried to do it again and it says. Developer options already enabled. Can Any one help me?
I LOVE MY NOTE 8 AMAZING..
Why is Lookout bad?
it's absolutely useless. You have no need for it and it's eating cpu time.
Phanteus isnt lookout the antivirus and security? Is there another option, or just run without any?
Keda Wood Dye You don't need these antivirus apps on Android. There's very little chance you'd actually catch a virus on an Android. Just keep your phone updated to the latest security patch and don't install sketchy apps.
Phanteus Dang I wish I would have known that years ago 👍 Thank you!
How about the locating and remote wipe features?
Note 8 is my favorite phone
I am looking for "Device Maintenance" and I can't find it. My carrier is Verizon.
Sea Horsey Go into settings and change the view options to "simplified list". It comes up that way. It doesn't work like the unlocked models because you have to manually put apps to sleep and so forth.
Cory Parker thank you. I found device maintenance how you showed me, but I didn't see any options to schedule a restart.
Sea Horsey that you have to do yourself. I don't think scheduled restart exisits
My S5 is still smooth...👀👀
Terrible battery life on the note8....even worse after the latest update.
No more Crapsung for me!

This phone is just arriving to people and we are already having to tweet the phone for better performance ? WTF
Carlos Robles it's always been like this with any smart phone, where have you been?
Why is there tape on the corner of your phone?
Nathan Kettell Just his wallpaper
Funkentelechy On the top left? That looks more like a piece of duct tape.
Nathan Kettell Sorry, you're right, missed that one.
It's covering id marks that indicate he's running a demo/pre-release that he's not supposed to use.
Great tips if you know nothing about android.😬
