  • In this lesson I explain how to go from E minor to C on guitar. There are a few key things to remember if you are beginning:
    -- Flats are lower in tone while sharps are higher in tone
    -- The musical alphabet only goes from A to G
    -- There are two frets between every musical letter name except B and C, and E and F. So, if you play an A chord, the root of that chord (meaning the A note) is the open A string. If you move that A shape up two frets and barre from the A string in the second fret, you get a B chord. Bb is one fret lower than B so move the shape towards the nut (the head stock): finger one in the first fret, barring the strings from the A string (fingers 2, 3, and 4 in the third fret). An easier way to play Bb is from the D string to the high E: 3331 (frets).
