Another quality mechanic on the team. Aus Armour is really lucky to have people who are passionate about the work. Look forward to seeing more of Graham
Graham's an absolute champion addition to the team! He's easily one of the best metal workers I've ever come across, and his passion for tanks is contagious. Hope to see more of him on these weekly wrap-ups!
I'm chuffed Graham got the nod from you guys. I've watched his channel for a long time n love his knowledge, enthusiasm n humour. Wish him all the best!
Yup, it definitely needs some TLC. You'd think that seeing it out there in the middle of the track, it would be a constant source of annoyance to the workshop guys to see it in such bad shape all the time. One day its salvation will come 🤞
Ohh wow, two minutes after upload.. I do not think i ever have been this early before.. Congrats on your wonderful new teammate. He really has a great on screen personality. :)
Old Bush Mechanics' motto; "If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer !" This Guy seems good: got a sense of humour (which,no doubt, you'd need when working on tanks !
The Ram Kangaroo was made from surplus Ram tanks, not left over Grants or Lee tanks. The Ram was an indigenous Canadian tank based on the US M3 suspension. The Ram became the basis of the Sherman as it mounted the main gun in a turret not in the hull like the M3 series. Ram tanks went into production in Canada after a British order for 1,420 Valentine tanks were completed. 1,949 Ram tanks were built (1941-1943) and served in Canada and the UK with the Canadian Army. It was later decided that the M4A1 was to be the standard Allied tank and Canada switched over to Sherman production producing 188 Grizzly tanks (M4A1) before it was determined that US Sherman production would meet all allied needs. Canada then switched production to the Sexton which was a Ram chassis carrying the 25 pdr gun. 2,150 Sextons were produced before wars end. Initially, US Priest 105 mm were used as APC's (called defrocked Priests) before modified Rams came into service. A special Regiment was created to man these APCs (the Kangaroo regiment) and they served throughout Europe with Canadian and British forces. A very important vehicle as no other army had a fully armoured tracked APC in service at the time.
It is said that a Ram was sent down to the US for evaluation and the next thing you know the Sherman evolved. It may have been heading that way anyways, but you never know. My Father was a Sherman driver in Italy with the 11th (Ontario) Regiment of the 1st Canadian Armored Brigade and also trained on Rams.
Graham will be a great addition to the workshop team. He has the right attitude when dealing with old machines. You are going to get dirty, sweaty and tired.
So glad you adopted Graham and gave a forever home to one of my favorite Aussie misfits 😂 As a retired panel beater in the United States, he had one of my favorite channels which I was sad to see go, but his talents will be a great asset to Aus Armour. Make sure you keep him well fed, pat his head and scratch his belly on the reg. I'm so glad we didn't have to send him to "that farm in the country" instead.👍
Great to see Graham doing what he loves. As much as he is a gun panel beater, you could tell from when he was doing up his Stuart tank that this is where his passion now was. I'm sure he will be a great asset to the museum but as a Ford guy, I'll miss his quality work on old Ford restorations.
Welcome to the team. Probably one of the more menial jobs at the museum but well executed and fire and smoke and an alarm so well done :) And the perk of then having to test you work. Have to drive a bit to make sure there is no oil leak :D
The Ram were converted Ram and Sherman tanks . Used as armoured personnel carriers to help the infantry keep pace with the tanks . I have also seen pictures of them used in Holland
As always I am never disappointed in watching your videos. I have few favorite channels but this one is number one on my watch list. To bad it's only one day per week. Please take care down under and stay safe. Thank You all for the great video.
Welcome to Graham. Seeing that radial engine reminds me of my old man (WWII RAF ground crew) telling of a big sign in a hangar somewhere, that said "Whoever forgets their hydraulicing will get a bollocking!!" RiP dad.
The Bovongton Tank Museum has a note on its exhibit's webpage suggesting they are called 'Kangaroos' because they carried their troops in their armored "pouch' (and photos do kind of resemble a bunch of Joey's heads protruding from their mums' pouches :)
Half the fun of watching this is the vehicles and the engineering work. The other half is the characters who go on camera doing the work. Graham is one more 👍👍👍
Welcome Graham - great job there mate, you KYS (know your s***). I love the radial engines, the turning to avoid hydraulic lock in the cylinders is critical. I used to help on the HARS Lockheed Super Connie. It had 18-cylinder 2 bank 3350 ci radials and needed 60 blades of the props on all four engines before every start. That was hard work with 2 of us turning with the 9 foot prop blades as a lever. I imagine turning a 975 ci with a crank handle was VERY HARD. Glad you didn’t blow an O-ring. PS you passed the audition mate! 😃👍👍👍
On the radials if they don't smoke there's something wrong ,the new guy is a good fit to the Museum hope to see more of him and Steve working together in the future ,Good Morning from Texas
A big welcome to Graham, Looks like Steve has some competition in the humour department 😉. Great that he seems to be passionate about what he's doing, and loved the smooth slide down the mud guard at the end, must be the mechanic's version of the football-stricker's power slide 😆.
You made the right decision to go up north Graham, we will miss you here, you've already proven yourself, S.A. is proud of you. just look at those comments,.. Cheers
Wow. Another gem in your team. Graham knows what he's doing and gave that Ram Roo a good workout once he'd done the job. By the way. Jeremy Clarkson is a wizz with a hammer. It's the only tool he knows how to use. 😀
AWESOME 👍💯%✓ 🆒 selling those rare parts of military history! Thank you for the opportunity to get it!😉 Well done ✅ Great to meet the new guy and I was glad to see Al back and at it again Full Force last week too!👍😉😅 Hell yeah! Thanks again everyone!✅
That is really awesome to see Graham working with you guys now. He looks more fit like he has dropped a few pounds and his cropped haircut is a big improvement for that young man. My wife enjoyed watching him with me when he had his old channel. His nerdy, yet highly knowledgeable demeanor combined with his funny "dad jokes" endeared him with her and made watching his videos with her fun. Kind of like watching Darryl. I think you guys hit it out of the park for future videos by hiring him, and we hope to see more of him in the future!
Check out Graham's FIRST Workshop Wednesday Q&A! ➡➡➡ ua-cam.com/users/shortsUxVslnbRffs?feature=share
Are soviet vehicles easier to fix but break all the time thus nullifying all the benefits ?
Is setting the fire alarm off with exhaust smoke something that happens a lot?
How far is the workshop from the museum?
How is a hole in thick tank armour repaired. And is it worse then the original armour
was the Ram only used as a APC and if not what other uses did it play?
Seems like Graham is a great addition to the team and a natural on camera. He's going to fit right in!
I don't know. That car owner virus joke was a bit sketchy.
@@IntrospectorGeneral Exactly, that's why he fits so well. The AusArmour guys have cracked all sorts of terrible jokes on camera before!
I like him too. He's our kind of guy. Lets all go on a date
@@RectalRooter This isn't Tinder, mate. We don't need any suggestions about how to pick our dates.
@@IntrospectorGeneral lol Don't speak in absolutes. Maybe suggestions will help lol
Another quality mechanic on the team. Aus Armour is really lucky to have people who are passionate about the work. Look forward to seeing more of Graham
And he’s got a great sense of humour 👏🏻
Graham's got a sense of humour... Very valuable addition to the team. And he knows what he's about
Hooray for Workshop Wednesday! Welcome Graham and his ‘one adoring fan’
That moment got a laugh from me. He's quick witted and a natural on the camera.
Does anyone else want to see Steve Elbow Deep in that Radial!!!!!
Yes please
Everyone except Steve? 🤣🤣
Graham's an absolute champion addition to the team! He's easily one of the best metal workers I've ever come across, and his passion for tanks is contagious. Hope to see more of him on these weekly wrap-ups!

Glad Graham ended up here. Clearly much happier and less stressed!!
Welcome to the Aus Armour crew, Graham!
Can't wait to see the Flak gun in the middle of the testing range restored!
Was thinking exactly the same myself :)
Overhaul and makeover! It would be a super video
Yup, it definitely needs some TLC. You'd think that seeing it out there in the middle of the track, it would be a constant source of annoyance to the workshop guys to see it in such bad shape all the time. One day its salvation will come 🤞
@@simonbennett9486🙏
@@simonbennett9486 Agreed! I wondered what its history is. Hopefully the restorer(s) research it and paint it like it used to be!
Straight away you can see Graham is going to fit right in with the Aus amour crew, look forward to seeing more.
Ohh wow, two minutes after upload.. I do not think i ever have been this early before..
Congrats on your wonderful new teammate. He really has a great on screen personality. :)
I'm gonna miss your content on XA coupe guy but good to see you happy working on tanks Graeme.
He probably got sick of never ending rust!
Old Bush Mechanics' motto; "If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer !" This Guy seems good: got a sense of humour (which,no doubt, you'd need when working on tanks !
Welcome back to our screens, Graham . If you had to move channels, you moved to one of the best , it's your sense of humour I've missed 😂😂
The wife just said go watch Workshop Wednesday, lol
Yep, the smoke alarms are working.

His knowledge of the Ram tank could fill a book, matchbook.
“So that’s what a compliment sounds like”😂
