Loved this! Thank you so much. I have been researching breathing online and there is much conflicting evidence but the exercises described here are working for me- no doubt. I started bawling 3 breaths in when he was showing us the exercise- tears of joy and gratitude. Here is another thing to be grateful for. 1000 thanks! It’s brilliant because there is ALWAYS something to be grateful for.
I'm going to try this! :) The research tells us that practising 'gratitude' alone improves our mental health. This is the first time I've heard a talk on practising gratitude aligned with breathing in the western world. It does remind me that this is what Thich Nhat Hanh teaches..... Thank you...
I once knew a Jesuit priest in Ireland who used to say over and over in talks, 'Your breath is your greatest friend' He is deceased now but I need give thanks that I met him in the 1980s as he was ahead of his time. He began Sacred Dance and Yoga in his 60s.
Thank You so much Rory. I learnt about Mindfullness a few years ago, however did not know about this technique about our breathing with gratitude. Light and Love to all along your way.
It indeed was a lovely and beautiful feeling that I could experience with the breathing technique demonstrated. Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙂☺ God Bless You 🙏🙏🙂🙂
Thank you. I will incorporate segments of this presentation into my classes when I discuss "tactical breathing" in response to the sympathetic NS. Thank you!
Travis Bickle it’s just relaxed slow breathing as is comfortable for you except on the exhale you think of something-anything- that you are personally grateful for. It’s about shifting focus from what you don’t have (which breeds fear & negativity) to what you do have. I’ve started to do this and it’s helping already. Traffic was terrible yesterday but I focused on the fact that my car still works. Yay! Good luck!
Attention haters, just because someone is not a natural at presentation doesn't mean their information is flawed, it could be why they may have studied such a subject ie: strong left brain thinkers are very analytical and can be pensive in nature. More the reason Awesome homework, keep it up
Just as a reminder: There is a vast science tradition within the eastern (Hindu & Buddhist) cultures since thousands of year. But western science just discovered maybe 3% of that - - - yet.
While scientist may study Hindu and Buddhist traditions their origins are religious not scientific. Brought to you here by technology whose origins are Western and more aptly associated with science.
@@daveunited4493 Dear sir, All hindu practices (on breath and meditation etc) are not religious. For eg. long ago, to make people eat with right hand, religion was linked and made it compulsory. To day all people irrespective of religion are practicing it (eat with right hand) I don't think it is possible to prove (all hindu religious practices) scientifically. But, I am Sure they have strength.( e.g Breath can do wonders).
Rory, this is just terrific! Discovered it doing a search on voice work on UA-cam. I plan to show this to my class. Proud to call you a colleague at SETC. Hope to be in touch again soon. Rob Homer-Drummond.
I can't keep listening to somebody who has learned by heart the gestures that will illustrate his "monologue" and uses them in a such unnatural way, with locked shoulders and chaotic discourse pace (silences, in particular, are not long enough). Would you ever believe such a bad actor?
Full big breathing is not good... Please check the BUTEYKO METHOD for the correct physiology of the breath . Optimal breath is like that of a baby. Lite by means of volume, slow and deep by means of using the diaphragm😘😘😘
we humans judge non-stop. thank you for this, The Time Is Nigh. Thank you for reminding me that we're all a universe of beings, and everyone is perfect just as we are
What a lovely guy. I feel grateful for him.
loved this lecture so I watched it three times. it taught me how infinite humans could be and how simple it is to turn our lives around
This needs more views. This is where anyone should start if they wish to overcome mental issues as well as learning how to control their minds

Thanks again
Love the animation of the diaphragm time stamp 2 min 10sec
I restrict my breathing most often due to poor air quality such as smog and automotive fumes.... and smokers of course.
I can't keep listening to somebody who has learned by heart the gestures that will illustrate his "monologue" and uses them in a such unnatural way, with locked shoulders and chaotic discourse pace (silences, in particular, are not long enough). Would you ever believe such a bad actor?
I am far more impressed with the speakers knowledge than by your long winded whining.

💚
Many breathing videos (including this one) are contrary to Buteyko research that teaches to restrict deep breathing
Is there a 3AM in the evening?
It would be great if it had subtitles
You can watch it with subtitles via doing it on you tube
I work I. The public and feel like I have to avoid deep breathing as to not catch the myriad of viruses 🦠 in the air
For example tuub
