This "armchair operator" has over 5000 hours on excavators. I agree with you for this purpose a 360 would be great. I put a thumb on my machine as money is a little tight and a 360 is heavy and expensive. I also do many more jobs than just demolition. The thumb works great for crushing debris like lumber, plywood, branches, and concrete. The more compacted the debris the less loads to the landfill which saves time.
Best operator I’ve seen yet.take it from a 73 year heavy machine heavy machine operator. Love the way you stripped off the tiles.and this with a small machine too.👍
Cats, demolition, cats, demolition, cats, demolition . . . the only two things I look at on UA-cam. Now if only I could find videos of cats demolishing buildings I could die happy. And In my dreams they're operating Bobcats.
The trouble with wood nowadays is, it usually travels as deck cargo, then they sling it in a drier to get the moisture out, get it bone dry, whip it out so as it soaks up all the damp in the atmosphere, then everyone wonders why it 'twists', - give me old wood any day.
Why are so many people saying this is a waste? Sorry but that looks like a 100 year old, freezing cold, damp, mouldy, miserable old nightmare of a house! Old UK house I'm guessing? We have the same old things in NZ in the original suburbs of towns. They are an embarrassment and they all need the excavator treatment. I think the right decision was made to build new. They will be much happier in a new house. Not to mention warmer and healthier. Lastly, no offence but that excavator belongs in a sand pit lol, bring in the 12 ton for demolition, but I suppose at the end of the day, it got the job done! Liked the video all the same!
Yeah I agree with your comment about the house.......no offence taken about the digger, but the video does show what can be done with a 5 ton machine with a good operator at the controls.
You did a good job of this demo , the Hitachi machine really has some power maybe you could put on a thumb attachment would be helpful , great video thanks for posting it very enjoyable . Cheers !
It's a 1950/60's build,so not very new,it was demolished to make way for a new build...something more energy efficient and more than likely less damp as well.
You've gotta love how all these armchair operators think a thumb is the best thing for demolition. I'd say get a 360 grab it's much better for picking and sorting and you can manipulate awkward objects far better than a thumb.
Gota get a thumb on that ..... things become alot easier & faster .... put them on all my equipment at the start ....productivity skyrockets PS.....what sort of dish service do you all have there ?
Surely some of that was re-useable - even if only the tiles, hips etc. and possibly rafters. Surely with the number of houses like that on the IoW there would have been a market for those at least - decent 9x2 is not easy to find today - the stuff in B & Q is rubbish for the price, talk about rough sawn - yes it is very rough. Did you build just one house on the site - it looked big enough for 2 to me.?
Can't remember if there was two or one big house built on site as had nothing to do with build,on the subject of wood years ago I got some 4x2 rails that were taken down when a picket fence was replaced, they are still solid and the new 4x2's have rotted, the wood you buy today doesn't seem as good as wood from years ago.
Like the rest here said good job, + with what you had to work with...I never saw a house filled in concrete the way this one was...Like to see how the builders did it back in the day...Was hoping you would find a bonus under the floors or in the walls but saw nothing...Glad the big flues did not hit your machine...They looked heavy...
Same here I am wondering why to maybe it wasnt external internal sound maybe it was beyond repair with it inside some houses are full of dangerous mould and damp that cant get rid off
grizzly9871 What about the slate tiles? I'm guessing by the way they were ripped off the roof they were destined for landfill but I would have thought slate tiles would be sought after for restoration work. Although they did look a little mouldy.
grizzly9871 when I was a kid the price of used bricks went higher than new ones. But these days manufactures make fake used bricks. That ended the used brick market.
Extremely WELL BUILT home. No way it's replacement will come close to the sturdy levels of construction used here.
Not sure why I love videos like this, but I could watch them all day.
+Andrew Finn i could to
+victoria runyon .
LOL AND ME ANDREW WE MUST LIVE A BORING LIVE LOL

Wow in Australia there are homes like that to but there are to many developments and these homes get destroyed and replaced with those bad modern ones

Wonderful home would love to live there
The different materials had to be sorted and kept free from each other...so some can go for recycling.
Fair play you can work that machine with precise movement good job
I never knew mini excavators were so powerful
No the video was filmed on the Isle of Wight,England
I could have used those snowflake window stickers. Such a loss.

Yip, he did a good job.

Very smooth and skilled operator
Thumbs are a lifesaver

+Steven Noel Thanks for your comment....I'm glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching.
exellent video did you finish in a day ?
hey Frank? you did say 116 surrey road correct? yeah, 160 is the house we need to demo
looked quite new! Why was it demolished?
It's a 1950/60's build,so not very new,it was demolished to make way for a new build...something more energy efficient and more than likely less damp as well.
Lewie F lovely house its a shame its gone
Lewie F Because of the orange interior lol.
Great video, don't usually see a mini excavator demolishing a house, why is the house being demolished though? Doesn't look that old?
That house look like new like 1990s
yes it does
MFC Gaming :D I'd say more late 50's to mid 60's.
Yeah definately post ww2, theres some houses identical to this a few streets away from me, they were built in the 1950s
Nice work with an efficient machine, whats the purpose of scraping the slate roof before demolishing it?
Mathew Allen Thanks...the tiles were scraped off to keep them separate for recycling.
Um dia ainda vou ai
Never seen a mini excavator doing all that I've seen big ones do that but I've never seen a small one like that
Thanks....yeah he's an experienced operator.
Was this filmed in New Zealand by any chance? I can see a snippet of the number plate on the car and it looks like a NZ plate.
James Skilton It was filmed in England
good job with a small machine!

I leave you for five minutes and this is what u do to my house....
Clive Evans lol 😂
Why wernt the rosemary roofing tiles taken off carefully for reusing on refurbishment projects?
1:30 thats one way to re-roof a house!
In our university course we are estimating productivity rates for wood demolition. Do U remember the total SQFT of the house?
Thanks.
Sorry can't help you...didn't know the sq footage
Poor house, it looked real nice. Where was it?
It was on the Isle of Wight
thats alot of destruction
Thanks....no where is safe now lol.
Gota get a thumb on that ..... things become alot easier & faster .... put them on all my equipment at the start ....productivity skyrockets

+RC Earthmoving Thanks for watching.
Thanks :)
I enjoyed the video.
Thanks...yeah all finished in one day
What was the reason for stripping the shingles off like you did in the beginning? Just wondering...
Different types of material had to be kept separate as much as possible for recycling
@@grizzly9871 : tks. Makes perfect sense now.
More of a fortress than a house.
And to think I just thought this machine was only good for putting in sprinklers and digging (small) fish ponds....
good operator!!!
Why weren't the tiles recycled? A shocking waste.
Heene
They are concrete tiles, unlike clay tiles or slate tiles only have a lifespan of about 60 years
What's the point to knocking all the shingles off first? The time it took to do that you could have had half the house down? Wtf!!!!!
why don't England move buildings rather than demolish them I always morn at buildings getting demolished
Timothy Smith 'cos they're too heavy to jack them up and move them.
And some of the walls are of masonry, the same ones would collapse.
Wssxsss
mothy Smith

The answer to 99% of all questions is "Money" and my guess that is the answer to your question.
Awesome video
Thanks :)
A better way. Throw a Nokia 3310 at it. But not too hard otherwise it may break the planet.
oh ok so i guess the shingles are made of clay and can be crushed down and made into new or recycle ones.
amazig video great pilate on that digger
i love hitachi :D
and the driver CAN drive.
so das ganze noch mal in deutsch
ich liebe hitachi
und der fahrer kann fahren (wie man sieht)
Such a shame nice little house why was it pulled down what a waste
well done mate, well done!
what do u do whith the wast and wood do u reues then or do it all and up in landfill?
+Chris Doncas Anything that could be used again was recycled
ёзэххххээхж88хэ
well done! good operator
not?
Bit of lead on that chimney boy
How long did this take, pls?
From start to finish in the video was done in a day about 7 to 8 hours work
Why was it demo'ed
Like the rest here said good job, + with what you had to work with...I never saw a house filled in concrete the way this one was...Like to see how the builders did it back in the day...Was hoping you would find a bonus under the floors or in the walls but saw nothing...Glad the big flues did not hit your machine...They looked heavy...
Might be wrong, but it looks 1950's to me.
nice work
Thanks :)
I wonder who lived there
We have Sky which you pay for and Freesat which is free but a lot less channels.
OK I stand corrected!
first class job, now where is safe lol 10/10
I guess this company doesn't place recycling very high on their list of priorities.
Everything that could be recycled was recycled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Props to the operator, and great job to Mr. "Jaws" :)
To develop the site with a new build.
hey at least now u have a outside toilet 12,12
just easyer to set it on fire and just clean up whats left
i only asked for a new window
Whatdaya mean its the wrong house? They all look the same!
scam it was the right house
What is there now
There is a couple of new builds there now
Power 🤖🤖
hi top operator
So, I guess no dismantling for reuse over there, eh?
best job eva
16:10 Wow!
Good
I Wonder Why They Demolished It?
Same here I am wondering why to maybe it wasnt external internal sound maybe it was beyond repair with it inside some houses are full of dangerous mould and damp that cant get rid off
I hope those bricks were saved.
Why did you want some?
grizzly9871 What about the slate

grizzly9871 when I was a kid the price of used bricks went higher than new ones. But these days manufactures make fake used bricks.
That ended the used brick market.
They would just break them up and reuse them as hardcore.
Zaxis
Used brick needed.
