Another film that covers themes of trauma and abuse that I really enjoy is called, "Omma," and also shows electricity as a link to the main character's childhood abuse and subsequent trauma. I would love to see a timeline done for that film as well or a video digging into it in some way if there's enough content to do so. My takeaway is that Insidious-Demons are just like Supernatural-Demons (which is funny, considering the Brazilian translation of Insidious movie title IS "Sobrenatural"); you have some Demons like Sixtass/Red-Face that are pureblood (i.e. they were born in Hell and/or are Fallen Angels), and you have Demons like the Wheezing Demon and Keyface that are humans who died, got stuck in The Further and became corrupted for long enough to become pseudo-Demons, something Parker Crane, the Long-Haired Fiend and the Doll Family are likely in the process of.
I've said most of this before but wanted to say this on a fresh video. I'm not a massive fan of watching horror movies, but I'm fascinated by horror movies. I watch a lot of making of videos and lore videos like this. I watch a few channels that do a lot of horror content. I really like your style, very visually distinctive while avoiding overly distracting quick editing. Although your narration is swift it's also easy to follow with your well-chosen visuals. The more you show about the Insidious series the more interesting it becomes. It seems to have a lot in common with 80's style horror when the characters were less Hollywood and more relatable. Great channel, the lore and timeline videos are so addictive.
A “key” isn’t necessarily a small piece of metal crafted to fit the wards of a particular lock, and “Face” doesn’t only refer to the anterior part of the cranium from the forehead to the chin. When you’re analyzing a story about demons, you have to remember that demons use words deceptively just like their father, the devil.
Hey CZ! Could you do a horror history on the demon from smile? I feel like there’s a lot of unanswered questions but I know I can count on you to fill in those blanks!
I think keyface is not that powerful when it comes to fight situations but his real talent is his talent of manipulation like the man who can’t breathe
It would be kind of cool if they added a scene in a horror movie where a character looks up the demon haunting them and they find a czeworld video on the demon
I still see redface as being a creation of keyface's. Redface has the same M.O. as keyface, but lacking the part where keyface continues to work to make the souls corrupted instead of tormented, whether they are living or dead. The only true victim of Keyface who we know was under his influence BOTH in life and in death was elise's father. When Elise ends up being able to free her father from keyface, we see his soul just kinda thanos snap which makes me think that was never elise's father's soul, but only an illusion cast by keyface. Which begs the question of where is elise's father? He most certainly was taken by keyface into the further when he died but what becomes of his soul? Oddly enough, it seems that the redface demon has the EXACT same M.O. not as keyface, but the same as keyface's living victims (the males who keep people chained up in their lair). Moreover, the only two beings in the series i can find to have COMPLETELY pitch black silhouettes are 1) the red face demon (thinking about 1 where he's pointing to dalton in the bed) and 2) Elise's father's coat during the scene where elise is in her old bedroom in the dark by herself investigating the house.....maybe i'm being dumb cause I haven't seen 5 yet but seems to me like I know who the redface demon is and why it hates elise so much.

I kinda see the time travel aspect as a sorta "Chrono / Time Lock" put in place by a universal force that sorta protects the timeline. Something primordial / before time level. Kinda like how in the Doctor Who franchise, The Doctor can be in an event multiple times, multiple versions of themself, but all the previous versions forget about it until the last version of themselves goes through the event. Thus, keeping that event stable and preventing each future version from basically trying to change it. You kinda see that with many versions of this type of time travel. Otherwise, the timeline then goes into a different version of itself.
I love all your insidious videos, actually most of your videos. It would be pretty neat if you did a timeline for the whole insidious franchise especially with the red door being out now.
Hi CZ. Good video and I love the analysis of KeyFace's history. But I think you forgot to address KeyFace's alternate fate in the alternate ending to Insidious: The Last Key, found on the Blu-ray edition like you mentioned about in the later part of the video. In the alternate ending, KeyFace essentially reappears after Elise's mom thrusts him into the dark, and Elise uses her father's cane to stab KeyFace in the throat, causing him to explode into keys. However, it is okay if you didn't include it in the video, just wondering shy it wasn't included, if you were aware of that version of the ending.
Most likely because it's not canon, not many people know there's 2 endings and so the one that more known tends to be the 'true' ending. Same for deleted scenes and interviews done by cast/creators.
I know about that alternate ending and honestly, I love that ending more than the canon one. I do not understand why producers need to scrap that ending part.
It seems like a lot of the characters are related to abuse and it’s cycle. The Black Bride was a victim of child abuse. Keyface took hold of an abuser and was just as violent to him, and used Elise’s trauma against her. Red Face also preys on children, which lines up with the theme less directly. The Man Who Can’t Breath also offers false parental nurturing.
