I loved the sternnes in both your voices. She responded a couple of times. When attempting to help her brush her teeth she did not want help, but you finally looked away, and she calmed herself down to allow you to help her. Keep doing it she understands, she is use to having her way. Begin to treat her more like she does not have a disability for as often as possible, because she is a toddler and they will try you anyway. Let her know she is a big girl. Give her a few big girl things to do, and see how it turns out. Mikko is going to turn some corners. It is coming!

Neurotypical individuals may more easily interpret non-verbal cues, such as body language and facial expressions. Neurodivergent Communication: May include preferences for written over verbal communication, discomfort with direct eye contact, and taking statements more literally.Mar 28, 2024 I thought neurotypical was wrong. Glad I looked it up. Just to help out. ❤

As a pediatric OT, I love all this!!! No amount of therapy can equate to what you do at home. The kiddos i see whobmake the most progress have parents who carryover in the home. But this real life and I love that you both can be sensitive where needed but also firm when needed. That balance is important.

I notice is this video Mikko responds differently to her dad. When her dad speaks EF HUTTON listens aka Mikko. I notice there is no meltdown of any kind when her father’s speaks, period. I see she will test and push mom to the limit with crying and throwing temper tantrums. I definitely feel Mikko knows exactly what she’s doing and who to pull it with.

For you to maintain a YT channel, raising three children with your husband and finding ways to interact with your autistic daughter is such a monumental task. I hold all of you in prayer and hope you are able to find solutions where Mikko can live a life without the stresses she deals with. Or at least for her to be able to find ways where she can handle things a bit easier. My heart goes out to you and I hope that you as her Mom finds those moments of peace where you don't get stressed out. Thank you for what you share as I am sure this helps other parents. I had a lot of services provided to my daughter thru that state of New York, but just like you as a parent I put in the work with my child and support all the way. There is no way she will as far as she is if I didn't. Some said harsh things that she will never make out of public school. But I didn't listen them I just kept working with my child. I am here to said she in her third year of college with a 3.0 GPA with a major in English. She wants to be a writer of books. I am so glad I never gave up on what God can do. I swear me n my son have the exact moments when brushing his teeth....but once the toothbrush is in his mouth, it's smooth sailing from there.😅
Iam so impressed with Mikko's improved speech. She'll be talking your ear off soon

    Mikko is doing great!
One thing I notice is that you always talk to her like she’s in trouble. You aren’t playful, don’t smile and engage her in a fun manner, and just bark orders at her. It shows in the way she responds to you too.
She listens to your husband because she can tell the difference of when he’s playing and when he’s serious. He smiles at her, he engages and plays along with her very playful energy, he looks at her so sweetly and just goes with her flow. So when he does have to correct her, she understands by the change in his voice and facial expressions.
It seems as though you are burnt out and just going through the motions with her. You smiled and giggled more with the drive through lady than you did with your husband or child.
I’m autistic with an autistic son. I understand the burnout and hard moments. If you need to take a step back for some self care, do it! Let Mikko go to preschool where she can have fun and do therapy with other children and teachers so you can have a break several times a week. 😊

I think you need to realize that the mom is also autistic, and that sometimes autistic people don't have the same tone of voice. I never take it as her being mad or barking orders more than a typical mom though 🤷
Did you consider maybe she was masking more with the takeout lady?

@@sianmilne4879I do understand this. I am autistic as are some of my children and other family members.
I agree that part of this could be autism which is why I pointed it out. Sometimes we don’t see things like this until we look back and realize it and process what’s going on. I wasn’t being mean, I was showing my observation.
I also think a big part of it is being tired and burnt out. I can see, hear, and feel that it’s more than autism bluntness. It’s overwhelm and needing a break and some time to regroup.

I really don't think this is a claim that you could make off of this video. Between the toothbrushing, shopping cart, and therapy clips, Mikko complied typically no differently between parents based on the tone of voice used. I feel like you're confusing clips of actual play (none with Mom displayed here anyways) versus clips where compliance is more necessary (hygiene, getting out of the street, etc.). Mom also previously made a video explaining that a gentler approach for learning and understanding with Mikko has not been working with them or for her development anymore. I think this kinda shows when both parents are displaying neutral affects during therapy (besides during reinforcement), instead of "play time." Based off of previous videos, it seems like with this approach Mikko is able to differentiate play/child led activities from adult led activities as necessary, a little better.
Also, claiming that you can "see, hear, and feel" this is more than her autism bluntness can come off as very tone deaf, whether it's right or wrong. Does Mom seem a little off in this video compared to previous videos/shorts? Sure. Does that mean we should question her parenting and claim we know what she's going through? Absolutely not. I understand this comment was probably made with good intentions, but it surely doesn't come off that way.
