I like how the animation is kinda "bouncy". The characters are fluid like everything was made around the idea of Rimuru, so the way the series looks and moves is to remembers a slime. He is the center of the the story visually too.
Rimuru did it because it was justified and used all the souls to bring back his friends. Rimuru - No hard feelings, you killed my people and now if I don’t get rid of you all then you just going to do it again, not giving you that chance Goodbye
As an animator, I really enjoy how much appeal the cast of slime gets out of the caricatures. On productions we usually send screengrabs of silly poses or expressions to team chats. If we're laughing at our desks, you're gonna laugh at what we made too xD Most of them make it into the show haha. Being able to go ‘off model’ is the most fun you can have as an animator to explore, and just expands what 'on model' can be :D You can tell the entire crew on slime has FUN loosening up with the designs and humour this show provides, and their directors/designers only make it easier for them. That's a solid production staff

@@raawesome3851 I don’t know what the anime rates the producers haggle behind the scenes, but generally if you’re working on a streaming service production, it’s more like a cut of the money is subsidized by the streamer, since they’re getting a bigger cut themselves by removing the middle men like a regular television channels. Atleast in NA, we get our usual good rates as service studios working on these productions. It’s more Japan studios themselves that aren’t regulating the proper competitive wages of the staff. I don’t know how those guys stay afloat after all these years, everyone takes advantage of them

Something I've found impressive is how genius Rimuru's design is from a marketing perspective. They somehow pulled off being able to draw 2 lines over a shade of blue and have you know exactly who it is

While the Animation in the series has never been the draw for me personally, it was Rimuru's human transformation then Walking animation in the first opening that made me give it a shot, I found it to be visibly pleasing and unique accompanied by fun looking character designs, and if not for that second or two of animation, I may have just ignored this series entirely. After that, the animation in this series on its own has never stood out to me as the best animation I've ever seen, but it's always fun to watch. Even in the still frames, the characters are just fun to look at, to listen to, and the series is written in a way you always enjoy the episode regardless of what's happening on screen. Is it my favorite Anime, or even my favorite Isekai? No, but it doesn't have to be fun, and unique enough that I really can't compare it to any other series. Sure, it's an Isekai, but an Isekai about building a Monster Civilization with a large cast of fun and interesting characters? Can't really say that's been done in another series.
Man Studio 8-bit is really doing a good with its animators and actually taking more of a interest in a way. Kind of wish other anime studio companies would do the same or rather similar.
I think what slime does good at is making Rimiru, the protagonist, feel naturally part of this world. A lot of isekai make it hard to make the charcter feel part of the world because they focus on the fact they aren't originally part of the world. But Rimiru feels like he actually helps build the world. He feels like he was originally from the world, but because of his Modern Knowledge, he feels natural.
Also the SFX are incredible! When I saw this show for the first time it was amazing the details in explotions, magic spells, movement sounds. The care in this anime is present and I love it
I'd love to see a video on the second season of World Trigger and One Piece and how they are able to put out such consistantly great animation especially in World Trigger's Season 2 case
The thing is everyone as impatient as I am, who have started reading the LN, know what is to come in the story going forward and really can't wait to see it animated

Slime diaries saved my life in helping me cope during the harsh pandemic. I am very glad this show is getting the recognition it deserves and hopefully people will stop skipping on this show as "another generic isekai" after watching this video.

The anime is definitively the best iteration of this story. Not just because it's phenomenally well animated, for the most part, but because they knew what to cut and what to focus on. The light novel while good, is also overly pedantic and has a little too much tell rather then show as it were. While the manga is just kinda dull and lifeless, and doesn't quite pop as it should. The anime does not have any of those problems. It's well paced, poppy, bright, colorful and expressive. Just as the story and these characters wants it to be.
Good video as always. You mentioned nearly everything. Even little things, that I notice while watching an episode, but couldn't point out when someone asks about the show's animation. This show's animation kinda has a heart now thanks to the details and caring.
It's basically four parts of the same intro. So if you watch the Channel Trailer, you see how they all fit together. There's a pretty basic story to it, but I doubt people would totally get it.
If you are talking about good animation about slime, there is one scene in slime diaries that amazed me, I think it's somewhere the harvest episodes where rimuru is eating while doing a monologue
I wouldn't say that Rimuru did a genocide, per se. He SPECIFICALLY has taken measures to ensure that, though he is taking out the government of Falmuth, the civilians and innocents of that nation don't suffer. His goal wasn't to wipe out an entire race/culture/heritage, but to protect his people from an actively aggressive invading force. The fact that he gave absolutely no quarter, even when it was obvious that the opposing forces were surrendering ... that's kinda a war crime, but not genocide by my understanding of the term.
I absolutely lobe the slime series. I recomend to you mushoku tensei if you havent watche dit already its abimation story characters and everything about it is amazing.
It is just me or 8 bit didn't have talent in-house action animators.Their best animators like Ebata didn't animate much more than op\end songs and Masaru Yonezawa action scene are mediocre in industry standard. They never done ground breaking action scenes like Demon slayer and Jujutsu. I didn't see any star animators in S2 staff list.Look like Slime animation producer didn't have much connection in industry. ToYama no Susume's animation producer Toshiya Otomo(current studio blind producer)recruit living legend like Norio Matsumoto and Hironori Tanaka just for mountain climbing anime.
I feel like they just ran out of juice here and there. At times you see love and care for the story and animation, then there's just a mess of pacing and animation. At least it didn't go down to 7DS levels.

It's funny, I thought season 2 had better overall animation. Because season 1 starts out so wonderfully bouncy and jiggly through the first half, but then the second half feels wooden. It's also the pacing of the first season, which is an absolute masterpiece in the beginning, but the second half is bogged down by tons of exposition and recapping. In contrast, the second season is way more consistent, with it's snappy and springy animation, which still fits the tone of the series nicely. The series has like 6 1/2 recap episodes, which seems like way too many. I'd be curious to learn the story behind that. Was the animation behind schedule?

Just out of curiosity, have you considered doing a video focusing on studios with good working environments? I don't know if what I said covers everything I'm trying to say but considering how fans wonder what conditions their favorite shows are made in, and with how MAPPA was in the news about it not too long ago, plus Wit's in-the-air state.
My perspective is that Rimuru still identifies as male, but presents as gender non-conforming based on the way he dresses and his comfort in the way others see him. Very different from most isekai protags!

A character like Rimuru is a perfect playground for Animators to show their skills.
Who all loves the abstract motion graphics whenever Raphael/Great sage enters the scene . It is pretty stunning and beautiful.😊

Just out of curiosity, have you considered doing a video focusing on studios with good working environments? I don't know if what I said covers everything I'm trying to say but considering how fans wonder what conditions their favorite shows are made in, and with how MAPPA was in the news about it not too long ago, plus Wit's in-the-air state.

My perspective is that Rimuru still identifies as male, but presents as gender non-conforming based on the way he dresses and his comfort in the way others see him. Very different from most isekai protags!

Season 2 did have decent animation, it just had consistency issues.
