Boring is often underrated. TBH I could very happily just go to the gym, take many naps, and read my book on the balcony with wine for two days. 😂🤷🏻♀️
Sea days are the best. I am on my schedule, my pace and love having absolutely nothing to do, and if I feeling like doing something I do it. This is what vacation is about.
I personally love sea days. If nothing else just sitting out on my balcony, reading a book, and eating whatever strikes my mood sounds like a pretty good day to me.
I love sea days. I swim and read books (I load a stack of them on my Kindle before leaving home). I am so looking forward to sailing on the Edge in October, from Honolulu to Sydney! I’m not in the Retreat, but I know I will enjoy it.
Depending on why you're cruising, then sea days can be the best part of the trip. My first Celebrity cruise was in the Caribbean full of sea days and I booked it with the main purpose of relaxing and unwinding after a tumultuous previous couple of months. Port days and my excursions were fun, but I much preferred the sea days. Great excuse to just sit around and do nothing.
I was so happy to hear that you were on the Edge again. I will be on it in May heading to Vancouver from Hawaii. I want to see updated videos about the ship as it will be my first time on an edge class ship. Looks like you are off to having a great cruise.
Good to see another vid from you, Zach!!! I love seas days…those are days that you can really relax and explore the ship. I am planning my Australia cruise for 2025…looking forward to watching all of your vids from this trip and information you share to help inform my planning. Continue to enjoy the trip, stay safe, and keep posting great vids!!! P.S. I absolutely LOVE Celebrity’s Edge Class Ships!!!
Hey, Zach...been following you for awhile. You are getting mighty close to 30k! After that, 100k and the Silver Button will be right around the corner! Congrats on your growth and thanks for the fun videos about being on the Edge. 🙂
Thanks Zach! Great video, as usual, and great explanation / descriptions of the various processes. My wife is now "working" on me to consider Aqua Sky... .... as you mentinoed, the best of both worlds. Anyway, keep up the great work!. Transatlantic comimg up, so lots of sea days for us and we love sea days!
You can also call your concierge to get excursions or specialty dining. We also close the blinds if we nap since it can be bright dependant upon which side of the ship you are on.
Hi Zach, so they not have blqck out curtains/ blinds in the room? Would expect that especially at that level. It looks like a great stateroom and especially the deck ans thermal suite.
It looks like they do have black out curtains. I know other vloggers have pointed out the black curtains on balcony cabins on Edge class ships. Only 1 was a suite. If they had them - i can't imagine that the dark blue curtains he has aren't black out curtains.
The Luminae food looks amazing (and on another level than elsewhere on the ship) -- so jealous! And the $20 Premium drink maximum was for all AUS cruises this season. Based on what you've shown so far, I would definitely look to Aqua Class/Retreat for a future Celebrity cruise!🚢
I was solo in an infinite verandah Rome to Ft. Lauderdale almost two years ago. It was my only Celebrity cruise and my wife has only ever sailed NCL. We are on the Edge to Alaska in May. I think she is going to be really surprised at how much of a step up Edge really is.
What were your thoughts of the Infinite Veranda? I have a Prime Concierge IV room booked for our first ever cruise on the Edge (a 7-night Alaskan cruise on May 23, 2025 leaving Seattle), and I am thinking up change to a Sky Suite (the issue is it’s $1,700 more!). Just curious on your thoughts?
@@Steinlage63I loved it, but some people don't. I have little use for a balcony. What's important to me is natural light. Yes we could open it and look out to see, hear and smell the ocean, and we did several times. But mostly we left it closed and treated it as a big picture window. I have nothing negative to say about our stateroom or the ship. If you are going to do the drink package however, upgrade it to the premium package or you will miss out on a lot of options. Including Champaign by the glass at dinner. Wait for it to go on sale. I paid CA$117.32 to upgrade. That's CA$8.38 PP/PD and maybe 1/3 what others paid.
Another great Video Zach… definitely never thought of going to the retreat at night…… gonna try that on Ascent in 7 days :-). Keep up the great 👍 work.
Another great video thank you, just to say when in Luminae we always asked for the menus from both main dinning room and Luminae it was never a problem and we often mixed and matched from both menus to make up our meal 👍🏻
Sea days are the best! Sleep in, lounge around, cocktails from lunch time...we always take several books each and love to kick back in the adults only area and just chillax. We are on edge from sydney in 20 days, but we are taking our 2 adult boys this time (20 and 23) so we might not have as much time to kick back. 5 sea days on our 13 night.
Zach, So my wife and I just booked a 11 night Panama & Southern Caribbean cruise for mid March 2026 onboard Celebrity Asent in a Aqua Sky Suite as well on deck 10 port side. This will be our second Celebrity cruise as our first was in 2023 onboard Equinox in a A1 Aqua class cabin. We enjoyed it and had a great time even though our stateroom was dated but it was a older ship in the soltice class. I would like your thoughts on your experience? Is it worth the cost going per say from a A1 Aqua class stateroom to a Aqua sky suite? I know there is alot of amenities and perks with a suite but also a ton to do and see on the ship as well from researching I just started. I must say though I do like the fact I can go to a quieter space that's not overly crowded. Was that the feel you got when on this cruise?. Any information & tips are much appreciated. Thank you for your vlogs and sharing the information and the behind the scenes work.
I enjoyed The Retreat but it is a significant price jump from Aqua to a Sky Suite. While it was very relaxing and quiet in The Retreat, I think I'd go with Aqua and then use MoveUp once that opens up to try for a suite. You'll come out much cheaper if you are able to snag a room that way. But no guarantees, of course.
Really enjoyed this video. We were on Edge for 12 nights in the Mediterranean in May. We also enjoyed everything the Retreat had to offer. I spent a lot of time on The Retreat Deck and in the lounge. Luminae is a big reason I enjoy Retreat class. Next up for us is a Solstice class ship, Silhouette. I'll pay attention to the size of Luminae. I've only been on Edge class, so will be interested in the differences. This time I booked a Celebrity Suite, as the price was the same as a Sky Suite on Edge class. Thanks for stirring up all the great memories I captured on Edge this year.
Enjoyed watching this and your Boarding Day video. Four weeks from now we will be enjoying our 2nd sea day on a 10 day Caribbean on the Beyond. Also a Sky Suite (not Aqua). Our first time ever on Celebrity, and we are so excited! We only plan to get off for Saint Vincent and St Kitts. Otherwise just want to enjoy as many aspects of our floating resort as we can. Looking forward to Luminae and Eden!
Really appreciate your Refreat content! Not much of it out there. We are in Retreat on Silhouette in July and i cannot wait! Not the exact experience as you on the Edge but close enough. 😊 I think ill be ordering off the Blu menu many times...
Hey Zach, I notice that the Signature Cocktails on the menu posted at 6:56 were priced at $18. But The Retreat comes with the Premium Drink Package, which according to the Celebrity site, covers drinks up to $17. I heard this was one of the changes that they were walking back/correcting. Did you have any problems getting those drinks covered, or did you have to pay? Or is the website out of date?
He's in the Retreat on a Move-Up, so his upgrade doesn't include a drinks package automatically. If he had already bought one, or if it was included in his original fare, then that would stay with him in his upgrade (unless he chose to upgrade it separately). I had a similar experience last summer where I purchased Concierge Class without any drinks package and then did a Move-Up into Aqua Class.
They told me on Edge that Premium now covers all drinks up to $20. So no issues with getting pretty much any drink I wanted. The specialty drinks in Eden are now $24, though, so not included.
Zach, I was wondering how you picked you flight. You said you can in a day before. Were you able to sight see Sydney? Also, do you let the cruise line do your flight and hotel? Please advise. I am taking my first NCL Dawn 9 day Mediterranean Cruise, I depart from Athens. NCL had a special so they are doing my flight but there are a few issues now??? Can you advise. Thanks.
Hi have you ever considered also filming parts of your travels getting to Australia ,flight and airport an connections ,your meals on the plane what class you were in the plane and also your hotel when you arrived in Sydney, and then tie it in with the cruise.
Sea days are my favorite BUT port days in Caribbean are as good. The Hoi Polloi thinks they've traveled to another foreign country, never mind that the food and activities and language are the same as the last 3 islands they stopped at. SO the tattoo-Insta crowd piles off the ship like cattle...moooooo....in search of the "cool refreshing tropical drink" at the end of the shore excursion. (They love their booze....have the pre-cruise planning was a noun, verb, and drink package) and while they are off the ship, so many areas are serene, quiet, and delicious.
Hey Zach, new subscriber here, been watching your videos for awhile but haven't commented yet. But here I am, so first question, what's the cost of a trip like you are taking and why decaf coffee? I mean no disrespect, just curious. Thanks for your great review of this beautiful ship.. My husband(first cruise)and I just ended a cruise on Celebrity Beyond, we chose an infinite veranda and really enjoyed it. Enjoy your cruise!!
I have an Infinite Veranda booked for an upcoming May Alaskan cruise on the Edge (first ever cruise). Have you stayed in the Sky Suite (traditional balcony)? I wondered what your opinion of the two is?
I know you travel a lot solo. It doesnt appear this is the case for this cruise. Is Celebrity okay for this? I am 52 but i like to have a balance of fun but relaxation. I feel they cater to the mature crowd? Its a 9 day ABC islands & Cayman islands in November Ascent
Zach, I was watching this video and midway through, it switched to a Ben and David video. This has happened before with other podcasts. Do you have any suggestions as to why this would happen?
Are you by any chance watching the video on a tablet, e.g, an iPad? And do you see other recommended videos on the side? If so, my guess is that you inadvertently touched the screen on the thumbnail of the Ben and David video and opened it. I have done this many times. But I was able to watch Zach’s video right to the end.
I also said in that video that I had two more cruises already booked with them that I couldn’t cancel without losing lots of money. No more new bookings with them.
Boring is often underrated. TBH I could very happily just go to the gym, take many naps, and read my book on the balcony with wine for two days. 😂🤷🏻♀️
