Remarkable. I’m now retired from the industry but have had the joy of seeing we are getting better at mitigating offshore fields and doing it safely.

I'm nearing 60 and have been around machines and construction for more than half of it...I'm glad I've lived long enough to see such monumental achievements in engineering and logistics...I smile to think of what the future holds...It's a guarded smile, but one nonetheless...:)

Thank you for sharing. It’s great to see the old platforms removed. It’s so sad what we have done to the Gulf of Mexico here in the US.

thomas mccourt states that there is "0% information" regarding this video. I disagree. There is plenty of information emanating from this video. One particular piece of information I get out of it is that those who believe that we are going to give up the consumption of fossil fuels anytime soon are fooling themselves.

Best shots I have ever seen taken with a drone.
A great compilation of scenes and fantastic music.
But I am missing the steel leg cutting sequence.

The Pioneering Spirit need to visit the US to remove abandoned platforms from the Gulf of Mexico. That ship is a feat of engineering. It is massive.

The Seaways Nessie is worth comparing. A semisubmersible has several advantages in removing both topsides and jacket. Has the PS moved a jacket yet? It is also not a three billion dollar vessel.

  • @SmalltimestudiosNY

I have been around the world, worked on some of the largest offshore vessels ever built and in the biggest shipyards. This is an amazing offshore vessel but the question that comes to my mind is what drydock is available that can pick something this wide up out the water. My only guess is modular dry docks connected to each other in open water

There is another video on UA-cam that shows the process from installing the cutters in each leg and the cutting and lifting. You'll have to search for it though.

The world's largest series manufactured bow thruster, belongs to Pioneering Spirit, is the largest construction vessel in the world. Loaded the bow thrusters in Kristiansand ( Norway ). And is due for maintenance in Finland (Rauma) at Rolls Royce.ua-cam.com/video/BkFltyBIAgk/v-deo.html

My Lord that is a gorgeous looking girl. I will marry her one day, in fact my family comes from a very lengthy history of mingling with the elites you know. My mother married the world's heaviest lift crane by Mammoet (my father). My baby brother is already playing in daycare with friends like the NASA shuttle crawler. My older brother, big Brutus, is a 16 story tall shovel mining monster and his friends all are the size of buildings.
But for me I love the wide open seas, my name is Prelude FLNG and we'll make a cute couple one day me and pioneering spirit.

Too long video, should be edited to around 5 minutes.
The average person watches only about 5 minutes of video until the end.
The proof is that the number of evaluations is low for the number of viewings.
