Very interesting material as usual my friend. I agree in most of your decisions. I would however consider the risk of developing an inverse taper on the main trunk having all main branches originating from more of less the same level as it is. Just a thought…. Keep up the good work 👏🏼👏🏼
I love silverbirches and yours is just gorgeous, mate. I’m happy to see you styling your trees and enjoying brunch in your garden. 🥰 Wish you a great day, cheers, 🙋♀️ Martina
Ouch. Last year following surgery I had to live for 8 weeks on 5-10 grams of fat per day it was to do with me being unable to drain fat following a neck dissection, but that was brutal. I used to watch those crazy food eaters on UA-cam for a little vicarious pleasure,🤣
Nice tree that Tony. I don’t have a silver birch Perhaps I should look out and get one. Those sausages looked spot on ! Look forward to your next master class
🤣I used to eat a full vegan diet, so I understand. I only really switched back when I was diagnosed with cancer last year. I do still love my veggies though
This is going to be a really interesting tree - great trunk - can't wait to see the new branches as they continue to develop. I love the way silver birch heal their wounds - such cool twisty callous formation, fueled by all that top growth. BTW, it's 10:02 pm in British Columbia, Canada and my stomach and fridge are EMPTY!!!
Yes silver birch heal better than any other trees provided that they are allowed to grow. This will be really interesting to follow I agree. I hope you enjoyed your food. What was on the menu?
Morning Tony, well it is to me anyway, I remember this tree it was clearly the right decision to leave the two big branches as we know give more options, you decided to chop them off now which surprises me, thought you could air layer them. The tree is yours to do whatever you feel is the right way to go. Hi cholesterol on that plate mate but don’t think it matters to you at this point in your life. Keep going my friend.
Yeah I'm more about the taste Joe! In terms of air layers, because I have access to such lovely Yamadori silver birch, they just never really seem worth the effort. That being said I'm currently layering a 16ft high tree just for fun 🤣
Really good example of the benefit of sacrificial branching and final chjoices are spot on for me. the highlight however, was the full English brunch. I had to stop and wipe the drool from my chin :)
@@TonysBonsai They spoil me Tony - I feel verylucky to have such a family around me. And ow I am becoming friends with new people too! Don't be afraid to call for me if you wish...you are not that far away my friend :)
I think I would have gotten rid of one of them branches altogether. Can't decide which one. I was in discussion on a site the other day about when you should put a plant in a bonsai pot. You like me seem to be in no rush, others impatience, or whatever takes hold and its chop the roots and bonsai pot it is. What's your view bud?
Hi Kevin. It's a good question. My thoughts are that it should go in a pot when the primary and secondary development and any major healing is at least more or less finished. At that point the shallow pot is useful for developing finer roots and better ramification in the canopy. There are also some exceptions like needing to use a certain sized pot for a particular tree or landscape which would more than likely be a proper ceramic pot.i definitely think think that on the whole trees do much better in washing up sized containers than in bonsai pots.
This video Anthony made me real hungry 😂 looks so good! And healthy 😂 recently i have also start saving branches around wounds for quicker healing. Works very good! The birth is on its way! Do you know when to reopening the callas around the wound for quicker healing?
With a species like birch I don't find that re opening wounds is necessary. Providing there Is plenty of sap flow they just do their thing and callous over themselves
Our Welsh break is over packing for home now and back to my trees. Have a silver birch thickening up in my border , may lift and shape next year. Great potential with yours, will you do some carving on it or wait for healing over? Keep growing xx.
Hi Mandy. I will just allow this to fully callous over now and do whatever it wants to do. Birch heal up so well it will all look great given 2-3 years and everything should silver over with a bit of luck
Hi my name is Donald I have a white elm bonsai that is sick with Stegophora ulmea Disease how can I save my tree any help will be appreciated thank you.
Life is always better with a strawberry tart 🥰
Neverwere truer words written!
Yum and wow 🤩
Tasty stuff!
Tony, once again, thank you, my friend .
Ohhh, and now im cooking a gold old English breakfast tomorrow for my wife and I.
Cheers from down under mate
Nice one Shane. I hope she appreciates it mate!

My pleasure glad you're enjoying the videos
Love the full English breakfast -- nothing like it! Yum!
Oo yes.. definitely a guilty pleasure 🙂
I'm so happy Tony's family cared for him like that until he passed away. ❤
I've never gotten so hungry watching a bonsai video!
🤣I hope you found something good to eat!
Heart attack on a plate that dude.
Nice tree mate 👍
My heart's as strong as an ox mate
Hi tony, started my diet this morning, half hour after seeing your fry up,total relapse, thanks mate.
🤣🤣 sorry Brian. You'll have to have another crack again tomorrow mate,🤣
👍👌🙂
It's 9:57 in Boise, Idaho. And, I'm drooling all over your breakfast from very afar.
The tree is going to be interesting.
Nice. I've never haa proper American style breakfast with pancakes and grits etc, but it's definitely on my list of must try meals

It will be interesting although I see those branches being significantly prunned next year before any inverse taper could develop
Good choices in term as of style, and the continued healing of that major wound. Oh, and a great brunch to top things off.
Bonsai and tasty food. Life at it's best buddy

The white limb as side branch and far right would make a trunk. And center would make a nice side branch after a little chop chop
Its 11:41 pm in the state of Ohio in the US and I'm now craving a strawberry tart.
🤣🤣 I call this a Trans Atlantic success story;. I hope you've got a satisfactory substitute in the fridge! 🍓
Hving just started a low cholesterol diet that brunch had me drooling lol. Nice tree to :)

Yes you should absolutely pick up a birch. Nothing grows so quickly either
Oh my god, that breakfast!! I went vegetarian in March but that had me drooling 🥰🥰🥰x
🤣I used to eat a full vegan diet, so I understand. I only really switched back when I was diagnosed with cancer last year. I do still love my veggies though
Nice work Tony. That’s got the makings of a fine looking bonsai. Thanks, keep growing
Thanks Matt. I'd say it definitely won't be short on character

I'll be hitting the gym next and ordering an egg white omlette 🤣
@@TonysBonsai Ahh, bugger the egg white; the yolk is where the iron is, go your hardest!! (Cool tree, by the way . . .)
