Brian, I love to watch your garden videos. I have a large backyard here in SoCal inland, and though I didn't do much gardening as a young person, I grew gorgeous tomatoes and strawberries. My dad, in his time, grew delicious boysenberries (so much better than blackberries, by the way). Now in my 90s and chugging along with a walker, gardening does not come easily. However, I encourage anyone with a growing spot to use it to the best of their ability. My nephew has a number of raised beds in his small yard. He brought me some beautiful tomatoes a few days ago. He or other family come over and water my little peach and avocado trees. Your videos are the very best I have seen. Besides, when you flash that wonderful smile, it lights up the world.

Thanks Brian! We are SO glad we found your channel. We have been watching it since a few years back. It was either 2019 or 2020. We then watched the ones we missed before that time. You give GREAT advice and communicate it well! We grow vertically and use companion planting on our 4 raised beds. Our HOA tried to pass a regulation limiting gardens to 10x8 and that no plant can be in excess of 3 feet. We fought back wearing and sharing our Garden Defiantly shirts from y'all. The HOA board rescinded the decision based on the numerous residents joining our cause.

I've been growing my squash vertically on stakes for about 4 years and trimming leaves as they grow. I'll never go back to letting them sprawl because it's easier to control pests and disease when I grow them vertically. You're spot on about the bees...they're more likely to find the flowers if the extraneous leaves are removed.

Thank you, Brian, for another great video! I had a cold wet Spring again this year so all my warm weather crops are only now starting to grow. But I like to get a second crop of snap peas going late summer. BUT and this is a big BUT! For the last 3 years I have had a terrible problem getting snap pea seeds that are ACTUALLY snap peas! And this has been from at least 3 different companies. They are usually a mix of snap and shelling peas and once included even snow peas. VERY frustrating especially in a stir fry when you get chewy little buggers, lol. Anyone else having this problem? I have one pack that I sowed late summer last year that were ok but happened to be 4 years old. I am trying very hard to learn the difference this year.😢😅

Good tips. I really liked the squash ideas. But we are going to be well over 100 for a couple weeks and I can’t bring myself to garden. 😢

Brian what kind of irrigation do you have in this video? Looks like a soaker hose, but I’ve seen it in other videos in your raised beds. Looks more rigid. Love your channel! Barbara

    Waooo.. thanks for sharing!
I like to ask: Is it ideal to mulch garden beds with wood shavings or sawdust? Will it not affect the soil negatively?
Your response will be highly appreciated!

Are there different varieties of zucchini? All I have ever grown stayed more like a bush while ny squash, pumpkins and melons trailed along the ground.
Garden pests have been my bane of existence this year. I'm managing the squash bug and hornworm by surveillence, but the black flies decimated my eggplants, cabbage worms got my brassicas and mexican beetles my beans. Brassicas I will replant later, and I'm going to try restart eggplant and string beans, and use wood ash to repel critters.
