Fun fact, the Drakonid were created to be maybe one day playable, aka playable dragons. Their are more like an lore explanation, if blizzard wants them to be playable.
Well I have news for you. We'll finally have playable dragons in WoW called the Dracthyr who were created by Neltharion by combining the power of the Dragon Aspects with the mortal races to create an army. They are sort of described like Drakonids so I guess your wish came true. At least the Drakonids we used to face will have sick new models as shown in the preview for Thaldraszus in WoW Dragonflight.
galakronds death being weird i think fits, because it helps establish that he was simply to powerful to be fought in a straight battle, so they had to defeat him with trickery
I have the Dawn of the Aspects book. I read that. Watched the video. Now, I know everything about the dragons of Warcraft. However, based on the leaks and speculations about 10.0 and what they done with the lore in Shadowlands, I am prepared to forget everything about these creatures, because another massive Danuser retcon incoming. Thanks for the video.
They can't do much about dragons in wow anyway after Cataclysm. So some time travel bs is coming, infinite dragonflight could still pose some sort of threat but its just not gonna be good let's be real.
@@dogswifty7800 Agree, and looking at the past 2 expansions (BFA, Shadowlands), those were like clickbaits on youtube. BFA should have been about faction wars entirely, instead we got low effort Old God story. Shadowlands was suppose to tell us about that Zovaal guy who looked like Kel'thuzad at the announcement of the expansion, now they turned him a half naked Thanos. I expect nothing, but the same in the next expansion.
@@jointser1008 Chromatus should be the main focus of the story, the only real thing they could make. The Murozond corruption will likely be a one patch threat.
Gotta say odyn had a point in not wanting to empower the dragons. Now they've caused more destruction than any other force next to sargeras. So I'm not opposed in wanting murder the lot of them for their stuff.
On the other hand... Odyn went through with his own plan of creating an unbeatable army from slain Vrykul warriors, empowered by Val'kyr (initially VERY much against their will), and what did he and that army accomplish in the end? Created another powerful enemy of Azeroth (Helya) and... held a flight point on the Broken Shore. Whoop whoop.
@@_Tomon yep. Tyr, Odyn and Archedus, and Ra were never corrupted(I'm refusing to except bfa's nyalotha is cannon because that sucked shit.), Freya was able to help us out during Sholazar so she couldn't have been that corrupted, Hodir and Mimron never actively work against us they just kinda sit in their rooms for a couple millennia, Thorin was captured by Loken so I wouldn't really count him, that just leaves Loken as the only one who was wholly corrupted. So I'd say that's a pretty good record considering they fought against the Black Empire in it's near full power
Very good video! I would love to learn more about Wrathion though and his goals on Azeroth. Since we can't do the legendary questline from Pandaria anymore, my memories of him are vague

I remember when I first did End Time back in cata and seen deathwing impaled on the temple. I actually stood there and stared at it for a good minute. It's deffinitely one of the very few things in WoW that I seen where I was like "Woah. That's metal af." The atmosphere from that alone is amazing. Definitely sold the feeling of it being the end of the world. Like... the war was long over. Apocalyptic.
The possibility of a dragon-themed xpac possibly being announced, has me on the edge of my seat... Just imagine the remastering of the old dragon models! April 19th is too far away 😬
@@MrBarlien I don't think the current writing team is gonna pull any of that stuff. Everything from BfA and SL was entirely because of Afrasiabi being a piece of shit writer and team leader who only thought of how to sell the next expansion through shock value (aka the same method American tv show writers sell shows), and the writing team was stuck with a story that none of them wanted to create. So if they do make an expansion focused on the dragons again, it'll likely be one that isn't selling itself on shock value and more on mystery.

21:10 the contrast in the photo, the fact that you didn't put a voice line the first time around, all combined for an epic drop and proper intro for The Destroyer! Deathwings' biggest problem was following The Lich King, but he was such a badass character that didn't necessarily translate in Cata.
Good days? From what I've heard, Cata was the end of WoW's golden age and the beginning of its decline into its modern state, and that raid in particular was considered one of its absolute worst.
It's important to note that Nozdormu expended all his power into the final attack with the Dragon Soul to make sure that Deathwing's death can never be undone. But... Activision is a thing so they might just fanfic that part away and allow him to return because... moneys.
Well, Activision Blizzard got bought by Microsoft. So maybe there will be change for the better? I mean it's hard to go downhill from where they are right now.
How would that stop someone from using time travel to fuck with the order of events again? No really, I don't think it's EVER been said that time travel is now impossible now that Nozdormu lost his god-like time powers, and even then what's stopping someone from another timeline or from the future or even from the past from time traveling to OUR current time? What stops a character from going back to a time before all thar businesses with the infinite dragon flight and undoing everything?
I hope they design a mount that looks like that picture (basically the lernean hydra) and it's special animation being throwing meat form your seat and the heads ripping it apart or something cool like that. Unfortunately though I get the feeling we will be getting more reskins
Watching this once again to be up to date for the new expansion and to see if they plan on changing anything, kinda crazy that Platinum kind of predicted it happening
After the events in Dragon Soul (I forget where I found the info, but I think it was in one of the books between MoP and Warlords) dragons also lost there ability to breed. At some point dragons will die off and be no more and we will be left with all those non-dragons and MoP serpents. As someone who loves dragons it's sad knowing this, it's would be the only thing I wouldn't mind getting retcon for the new ex-pac lol

@@TheJacob232 Yeah that's the one thing that sucks about the lore being split between game and books. There's a lot of small details that can be missed since the game won't go over everything because you won't have a reason to buy the books if it did.

I appreciate this video. I just started playing WoW within the launch of DF. Looking forward to Chormie after the expansion is done. Gonna learn some things.
ACTCHUALLY, if i recall correctly in the "Day of the Dragon" there was mention of drakonid and dragonspawn like creatures subjected by the Dragonmaw clan to basically guard Alextrasza while she was imprizoned in Grim'batol. When Krasus was interacting with one said creature he surmized that they are the rezult of the, ahem, *forced creation of cragon eggs*, resulting in the malformed spawn. Now if my recollection is accurate and this is cannon, it WOULD explain why some evil draconic factions have drakonids and the like, but then by what circumstance do good faction dragonkin come from? Dragon lore darker than you may think :D
I've read Day of the Dragon. There's no such thing in that novel. Krasus interacted with a dragonmaw red dragon which had malformed wings. Maybe you're talking of what happened in Night of the Dragon?
I love the amount of humour inserted into this explanation of the lore. It's great, thank you! My favourite bit has to be when Deathwing said 'f*ck this shit I'm out' lol

I wonder if Deathwing is still around in some form somewhere since we never see him or even hear mention of him being in the shadowlands. Maybe the old gods/ void lords will use what's left of him to raise galakrond from the dead in some future expansion that revolves around dragons.
@@WoWFtw8 Maybe his soul/essence is still inside the whirlpool thing (dont know what its called). Considering how important a character he is id expect to at least have him refrenced if he passed on to the realm of death.

Playing this on my other screen, not really listening, just looking up occasionally as I focus on my main screen. I find myself choking up at 10:23, I look up to see Tyrande and Ysera, and I instantly knew why I was crying. Again.
I never completed that questline without crying. 13 toons through... 13 sets of tears on my face.
Same :(
Fun fact, the Drakonid were created to be maybe one day playable, aka playable dragons. Their are more like an lore explanation, if blizzard wants them to be playable.
@N!ckN4me yeah that's not happening. Ever
@@dogswifty7800 or maybe chromatus
@@jointser1008 Chromatus should be the main focus of the story, the only real thing they could make. The Murozond corruption will likely be a one patch threat.
@@dogswifty7800 yeah first patch nozdormus corruption and then chromatus!
Dude great work. It’s like a Nobbel video but minus the rage he obviously can’t shake about the Season 8 of Game of Thrones that was Shadowlands….
@@mokarokas-2138 he also let warriors jump between zones freely, so I say we give him a pass
Because the Keepers themselves did such a good job at resisting Old Gods corruption, right? :-D
@@_Tomon least the keepers had the grace to sequester themselves in their titan facilities. When a dragon gets corrupted it screws everyone.
I dont even play the game anymore (first shadowlands raid) but i keep watching these because they are so well made
Very good video! I would love to learn more about Wrathion though and his goals on Azeroth. Since we can't do the legendary questline from Pandaria anymore, my memories of him are vague
I find myself getting over excited by your passion and excitement….the giant laser beam part had me “pumped”
Thanks, was waiting for a full dragon lore video from you Platinum. Thanks for all the work.💚💚💚💀Blessing. They could include animations for future expansions such as the Sindragosa one, love it.
I remember when I first did End Time back in cata and seen deathwing impaled on the temple.
I actually stood there and stared at it for a good minute. It's deffinitely one of the very few things in WoW that I seen where I was like "Woah. That's metal af."
The atmosphere from that alone is amazing. Definitely sold the feeling of it being the end of the world. Like... the war was long over. Apocalyptic.
The possibility of a dragon-themed xpac possibly being announced, has me on the edge of my seat... Just imagine the remastering of the old dragon models! April 19th is too far away 😬
Just imagine the remastering of the old dragon lore... makes me shudder.
@@MrBarlien dragons were actually behind EVERYTHING!
@@Mariodash23 Said the current writing team. Who are under fire and getting called out. How nice it is to have a scapegoat, that is a piece of shit to boot, to blame it all on. It was horrible under his leadership, no doubt. But I believe he was good at making WarCraft lore. I hope you are right of course, but I severely doubt he was the problem to all this.
@@Mariodash23 Thats complete bullshit and you know it. Afrasiabi was involved until burning of Teldrassil, thats like 4 years ago. Anything beyond that is all from the new writing team and that dumbfuck Danuser. Even if BfA was Afrasiabi's fault then SL is definetelly Danuser's doing. And it also doesnt make sense. Since Danuser became the lead writer, he could change stuff as he wanted and not continue with afrasiabi's direction, assuming even SL story is his fault. But instead Steve and whoever agrees with him chose to shit on old lore and future lore at the same time with anything that happened in SL
This video was INCREDIBLE! Saw this from Asmon, instantly subscribed.
Thank you a lot for your videos, platinum. My homeland is Ukrainian and in these days of struggle your videos about WOW lore are making me feel much better for these magical 30 minutes. Thank you a lot once again. Hope there will be more videos to watch :)
Hey man, hope you are doing well!
@@vanreus6150 Thank you, man! I'm OK and hope you too, wherever you are
21:10 the contrast in the photo, the fact that you didn't put a voice line the first time around, all combined for an epic drop and proper intro for The Destroyer! Deathwings' biggest problem was following The Lich King, but he was such a badass character that didn't necessarily translate in Cata.
Pufferfish Galakrond is my favorite thing now.
3:32 btw
A must see before Dragonflight expac !
Thank you Platinum

"The world of Azeroth if it was never altered by intelligent beings"
I'm assuming the statue just grew naturally.
21:08 I know those lines by heart... Oh how I wish the good days of wow were back, such a sad ending to such an amazing story.
Good days? From what I've heard, Cata was the end of WoW's golden age and the beginning of its decline into its modern state, and that raid in particular was considered one of its absolute worst.
Came over here because of an Asmon vid. Subbed, good stuff 👍
It's important to note that Nozdormu expended all his power into the final attack with the Dragon Soul to make sure that Deathwing's death can never be undone. But... Activision is a thing so they might just fanfic that part away and allow him to return because... moneys.
You mean Nozdormu. He is only Murozond after going mad infinitum.
Well, Activision Blizzard got bought by Microsoft. So maybe there will be change for the better? I mean it's hard to go downhill from where they are right now.
@@aureliodeprimus8018 fixed, thx
How would that stop someone from using time travel to fuck with the order of events again? No really, I don't think it's EVER been said that time travel is now impossible now that Nozdormu lost his god-like time powers, and even then what's stopping someone from another timeline or from the future or even from the past from time traveling to OUR current time? What stops a character from going back to a time before all thar businesses with the infinite dragon flight and undoing everything?
I absolutely lost it at the Skeletor bit. XD
I have a good feeling we'll be seeing Chromatus and the corruption of Nozdormu on the Dragon Isles in the next expansion!
BET
I hope they design a mount that looks like that picture (basically the lernean hydra) and it's special animation being throwing meat form your seat and the heads ripping it apart or something cool like that.
Unfortunately though I get the feeling we will be getting more reskins
@@araposkulo If it happens it will be store mount.
It's far more likely they will forget that it even exists.
Thanks, I've always wanted to know the lore behind those dragonspawn, that was pretty unexpected!
Watching this once again to be up to date for the new expansion and to see if they plan on changing anything, kinda crazy that Platinum kind of predicted it happening
I don't play anymore, but I love the content and lore behind WoW. Keep up the great work
After the events in Dragon Soul (I forget where I found the info, but I think it was in one of the books between MoP and Warlords) dragons also lost there ability to breed. At some point dragons will die off and be no more and we will be left with all those non-dragons and MoP serpents. As someone who loves dragons it's sad knowing this, it's would be the only thing I wouldn't mind getting retcon for the new ex-pac lol
well in game it was implied it was their immortality that was lost, resulting in Murozond. This is the first im hearing aboout their repoductive power being affected
@@TheJacob232 Yeah that's the one thing that sucks about the lore being split between game and books. There's a lot of small details that can be missed since the game won't go over everything because you won't have a reason to buy the books if it did.
8:37 that's absolutely genius and hilarious! The execution of the song fading in literally made me lol 😂😂
I would've loved if chromatus or whatever that 5 headed chromatic dragon was called was like so powerful that he doesn't even do what the people that made him want him to do, like he's so powerful he's not even interested in dealing with anyone and just chills around somewhere.
i grew to love these more then i did when i watched the very first video. well done
I always thought it was dumb that proto-dragons evolved from elementals. They have six limbs like basilisks and crocolisks, they should be related!

It's so sad we never got to see in game Malygos' humanoid form. Though, we kinda have now as The Primus looks a lot like how I imagined it according to his in book description.
His form is a young tall elf.
@@kunik61 In an older book (I think The War of the Ancients) he is depicted as a slender old man with massive long beard, he also acted like a trickster.
You see it when you do the whole Kalecgos questline in Dragonflight now
I appreciate this video.
The first few seconds into the video hearing Deathwing's last stand soundtrack I told myself ''this is gonna be good'' and pressed the like button
the satirical nature of your storytelling is pretty good, it got me laughing a few times. I do think it did Sindragosa an injustice though
7:20 I recognized that sound immediately. Man, there's a blast from the past.
You know, it’s odd how the first two dragons to turn evil were the ones who flew down Galakrond’s throat.
Now I know everything I NEED to know about dragons in Warcraft
I love the amount of humour inserted into this explanation of the lore. It's great, thank you!
My favourite bit has to be when Deathwing said 'f*ck this shit I'm out' lol
I love that Michael Sheen voices that. ❤

At this point IF the Dragon Isles are the next expansion I am kinda hoping they have been hidden in the clouds like Black Widow's Red Room was.
Would make a heck of alot more sense that we couldn't find it until now because we kept sending people to uncharted parts of the ocean when it was above it all along
Well you certainly did call it

I wonder if Deathwing is still around in some form somewhere since we never see him or even hear mention of him being in the shadowlands. Maybe the old gods/ void lords will use what's left of him to raise galakrond from the dead in some future expansion that revolves around dragons.
He got disintegrated by thrall.

Imagine if the jailer was as cool as deathwing
There were early sketches of him looking like possessed Theodin of Rohan. That was cool as shit.
