I used to do a brisket about once a month, but now I do it maybe quarterly at the most. Mostly I’m doing faster and cheaper cooks like ribs, pork butt, turkey breast, chicken, etc…
I have boycotted barbecue restaurants here in North Texas. They are just too expensive. Brisket prices are coming down in price here, but the restaurants are not reducing their prices. So, it up to me to smoke my own!
On 4th of July, Kroger had choice brisket on sale for $1.87 a pound, limit 2, next week I'm going to smoke the second one, first one was awesome, 15# for $27.00, 17# for $31, hopefully they do the same for labor day, they always do Memorial and 4th of July
That is a heck of a deal. Here in the Portland metro area Costco is $4.50#. They run ~$80-$90. You then toss about 3-4# of hard fat away as well. I don't render it. I went to a butcher store yesterday & it was $10 #
@notaliberalfromcali6245 prime sucks if you don't know how to craft bbq, but those that do can make a choice, even select taste like prime, it's all depends on the pitmasters skill
We haven't done a brisket in over a year , I would need a bank loan to get one. If the oil companies would stop gouging us at the pumps , the cost of things would go down , remember everything that we get comes by truck.
Your math isn't right. When you cook brisket, you cook out all the water in the meat. Making it lose more weight compared to a stesk with all the juice at IT of 135-165 degree. After trimming you say 7lbs but after weight lost in cook it's around 5lbs. Doubt it's feeding 7 prople without filler.
are you kidding? $4.99 a lb is HORRIBLE, PERIOD!!!! I haven't cooked a brisket since Biden became president because prices have went through the roof. It's our favorite meal in this house and we haven't had it in a couple years because of the inflation prices. Your should really rephrase your comment that $4.99 is "not that bad"... for working people it is beyond "that bad"
Briskets are usually well over a hundred bucks in trudeau's canada
Truth, who said brisket has no bone...
Smart to finish the cook in the oven once you get the color you're after. The brisket looked so good!
I’ll be doing two 12 pounders Tuesday. My son makes a mean Detroit style pizza with brisket. My mouth is watering just talking about it.
People are just now noticing this ….. been happening for the last 4 years. ……cut off xl oil pipeline. Prices go up.
Exactly! People think its gouging. But the we have found the enemy and it is us.
I just saw briskets at Sam's club for like 3.89 a lb

Nice to see you back brother👍🏽👍🏽 and brisket looks 🔥

Great looking brisket. Good job!
R&R meats here in Redding still has $3.99 lbs. every once in a while.
It’s always been expensive at the restaurant. Our fav spot switched to the advertising prices in 1/4 lb folks think it got cheaper. 😂
brisket used to be cheap. then in the 2005 or so bbq competitions started to show up on tv driving the price up.
Think about your math
What kind of smoker is that?
It’s made by Lone Star Grillz. It’s a vertical offset smoker
Walmart near me has them for $4 a pound. They're not prime by any means, but that's ok.
They jump because everyone is a damn bbq cook now. Thanks UA-cam. Supply and demand.
People often don't appreciate the craft of good BBQ. When it's done right, it's worth paying for.
Well said Scott!

Great looking brisket Mike! Nice bark and soooo juicy! You’re looking svelte too! (Miss your pizza videos.) cheers brother!
I miss the pizza videos too lol. Unfortunately for me, unlimited pizza and svelte won’t work 😂
yeah ….I know what you mean.
I just bought a prime brisket at Sam's Club for $4 per pound

I was unsubbed. Wth. Subbed again. You've lost a lot of weight and made me go buy a brisket lol. Nicely done.
Lost about 50lbs so far
@@WeekendWarriorBBQ you lost weight by cutting back on the brisket! Every smoker I know is overweight!
damn you lost some weight... good job bro! I'm working on it myself 🙃
Vote Kamala Harris if you want to see it go even higher!

Stop buying wagyu and pime cuts. Choice and select are cheaper. Bbq is low and slow for a reason.
