- Hello and welcome to Darkside Wargaming's first battle report! This is a massive 8000 point battle of Star Wars Legion. The Clone Wars rage on the red sands of Geonosis. The Republic must retake lost territory to later threaten the main Separatist forces in a brutal slug fest on a huge 12' x 6' battlefield.

Excellent report, quality of models and production was top notch. this is why you ALWAYS PLAY WITH PAINTED MINIATURES. terrain excellent and even the style was enjoyable to watch. Congrats on both sides for playing 11 hours but we only have to watch an edited 1 hour. Subscribed at the 20 minute mark when i realized, this was fun.

This definitely felt epic, the shear size of these units made the battle feel more like the full scale war instead of a skirmish. Well done on the narration too, there were a lot of moving parts but due to the cuts and narration I didn't feel lost at all and was able to enjoy the experience. This video earn you my sub! I can't wait for more.

Smooth delivery, good editing, very nice and concise report! Under 1 hour of video condensed from an 11 hour game = you are doing it right!! Smooth pacing of events, nice focusing of camera upon the moments you have just mentioned in the video (showing the involved units, and relevant dice), good pacing of action per turn. What a way to launch a channel!! Excellent, massive-scale batrep. I'm glad you didn't use the handheld 'shakycam' that most batreps have to go with ( I fully appreciate that most channels only have a mobile phone to produce their videos on) it tends to induce motion sickness 😁 keep it up. Thank you so much! Im glad my camera investments are appreciated. I will be looking into some sort of stabilization device for future videos to get an even smoother look, I do agree with you about the shakey cam, I wanted to avoid that as much as possible.
The sound effects could have been louder but don't get me wrong this is one of the best bat reps I've seen in a while and the paint jobs are excellent.

as for some feedback - i laughed a lot. if you had a link for the rules, especially if you are going to go and do a few more. its hard to follow initially. i had to go back a few times. however, its a completely different style altogther. so right now, its hard to compare really against anything other than ZPs genonsis battle himself. that was epic.
@@tomsyn Im glad you enjoyed it! And I appreciate the feedback man. I was worried about it being a little hard to follow at times, but Im sure I can improve that as I continue making videos. I was really trying to do something unique so Im happy my efforts are at least being recognized haha. As for rules, I will definitely add a pdf or something to future episodes that feature them.

Been dying for high content battle reports for stuff like this. Super nailed the feel of giant armies waging line battles against one another with the mass core units. In terms of editing notes, just a little work with some audio levels. I initially tried to watch in a place with some background noise which made your voice very hard to hear, but once I moved to a quieter location it was fine. Great video for a first video, can’t wait to see more

really enjoyed this, i just want to point out you didnt use the dekas shields properly you use shields during the duck and cover step. if you roll for the hits you cant use the shields after. but otherwise this is awesome
I think we added the shield tokens to the roll just to show that they were used. But the blocked hits were still discarded per shield token.

Sick man, that’s a huge separatist army, and that grievous. Gotta ask, but is that grievous from the core set or 3D printed?
Thank you! Grievous is the core set model, I just did some slight cutting to get him in a more hunched/attacking position.

All the geonosis terrain is from an etsy seller, the mats are from Pwork Games, and im pretty sure the shield generator is from gale force 9.

Completely custom. Mostly to make the game actually playable in a reasonable amount of time.

What models are the galactic marines?
They are from an etsy shop called Gootzy Gaming.
CC. Your narration is to steady. Would love some more expensive vocal work. That expression provides the entertainment for the viewer. But you did a great job with the game and scale. 11 hrs. That is a marathon.

For now im just doing some linked games. But eventually Ill do a full narrative campaign including Armada battles that impact ground battles.

Really cool battle with a ton of work in it. Only complaint id prefer a more active shoeing decisions, at the table talk then this post commentary. Just kinda boring listening this way.
I appreciate your feedback, Im sure my style isn't for everyone, but I wanted to make something a little more focused on the battle rather than the personalities behind it. Ill do some more relaxed games in the future though Im sure, maybe livestreams.

I mean, nothing against the battle itself, as this was already an excessively large undertaking to create I am sure, but these are in no way 8000 point armies. I saw the title and had to see for myself how big 8000 points would be and frankly... It's stupidly large. For Separatists we're talking 30+ core, 10 tanks, all the commanders (with multiple tactical droids) and operatives, 20+ elites and supports.... I know you're using custom rules to make it more playable and "double size" cores but even still, this is not close to 8000 points.
I went ahead and totaled up the lists (taking two units of troops for each "double size" unit) assuming the most expensive upgrades in every slot (note this isn't likely what was used as some of this is very wasteful and worse than cheaper options). Obviously I didn't factor in the special card effects (plus courage and such) in prices but there really isn't a way to do that as far as I can tell (and it's simply arbitrary anyway being fan made content) but I did do extra weapons and support models. And obviously I couldn't put a value on things like giving Ani all his cards for free or the Artillery support attack.
For the Separatists list I came out to 4540 points. If I trimmed the obviously wasteful filler upgrades it would come out to closer to ~4000 points.
For the Republic list I came out to 4633 points. If I trimmed the obviously wasteful filler upgrades it would come out to closer to ~4300 points.
Oh, and note this is all with the new points changes. I don't expect they made that much difference though.

Ah well, I still had fun adding it all up and playing around with what 8000 points in one army would look like so it was worth the time spent anyway.
