The Americans bombed the citadel to rubble during the war. Most of what you see has been slowly rebuilt ever since.

You are right, the emperor was in China, the kings in Vietnam were "only" kings!

Vietnamese royal called them is emperor, not king because VN is never a part of China.

And about architecture or art, maybe u don't know that Beijing emperor cantadel was built by vietnamese architect name Nguyen An in 15th century. And the VNese dragon or some details of decoration is total different from chinese

Vietnam used to be a part of China and Vietnam received a lot of Chinese influence and a lot of Chinese culture and was fully Chinese.@@atnauan8522
