I love CAWPILE and have been using it for about a year now. It's so helpful when you write reviews too, because it gives you specific things to focus on. That being said, I really need to know who murdered Papa Blue!
Spreadsheets make my nerd heart happy! I can't wait to check it out when I get home from work. I wonder if my book ratings will change a lot vs. my gut star rating.
I love this spreadsheet!!!! Note for US users though, use the UK date format (or change the spreadsheet to US date format) otherwise the date calculations won't work. US=month/day/year UK= day/month/year It literally took me 10 minutes to figure out why the formula wasn't working for me. lol
I cannot believe only found your channel since being in lockdown. You have given me the OWLS, a bi monthly book read club and now this! I was actually thinking of making a spreadsheet like this for next year but as you've already been so kind to share yours I might as well sift back through my 2020 reads and start now! So grateful for you fulfilling my nerdy book analysis needs!
Oh my god, this system satisfies my organizing self! I am definitely gonna use the spreadsheet. I always thought the de goodreads way wasn't helpful in many ways, and this definitely is. It is also gonna help me a lot to think more through about what I really think of the books.
Okay, now this is a great outline to help structure my book reviews. Maths was never my strong point so I'm happy the spreadsheet will fix all of that. I have subscribed to your youtube channel. I know that this video is old but this is evergreen content as it is still relevant. Great stuff!
Thanks so much for making this available - here via JadeyRae, who recommended I check out your channel when I asked about her rating system. Really looking forward to using CAWPILE (and I ALSO really want to know who murdered Papa Blue ;-) :-D :-D )
Dude, your CAWPILE video is the video of yours I've watched the most. Literally have it linked in the hotbar of my browser. I still remember when you messaged me saying you were thinking about creating a rating system and a simple spreadsheet to go with it. Now we are here :') Also let us all remember The Big Blue Book as your debut novel haha.
Thank you for this spreadsheet! I've been rating on a system similar to this for years now...and I really like yours, especially the acronym. I've been working on my own spreadsheet but I'm terrible with the formulas. I've incorporated this into mine that I have...I think I'm going to love it. I just have to retrain myself to think of my ratings on a scale of 1-10 instead of 1-5.
It's so interesting to hear about your rating system ! (I rate my books purely based on how I feel right after I finish them - I guess I read too many books that would not fit into a well-structured rating system haha). And thank you for this wonderful spreadsheet, I will use it to track what I read in 2020 ! Have a good day :D
This is my favorite thing EVER. I honestly can’t stand rating things based on my enjoyment alone because I still want to give credit to books that are technically beautiful OR I want to acknowledge when books I had a blast reading are kind of garbage fires. Like, if I rated books I had fun hate reading as five stars just because of the experience, I would have had to give Hot Pterodactyl Boyfriend a 5 stars and that wouldn’t sit right with anyone, especially myself. Ratings are subjective across the board but you have different opinions on different elements and weighing them equally against each other makes more sense to me than starting every book at a 3 and letting everything play tug-of-war in my head (which usually leads me to re rate books like twice because I can’t tell if one things actually outweighs another). Long and ramble-y comments just to say: I love this system and I’m honestly wanting to do a complete overhaul of my goodreads ratings
I used your rating system especially when I'm not sure how to rate a book right away. I remember it as EPIC LAW because I think someone commented that on your original video haha, and sometimes I just do it on the 1-5 scale for each category so the math is even simpler and just finding the true average.
I just start using it and its fantastic!!!!! it helps so much and it's really fun thank you so much for making this and sharing it for free! only one suggestion: it would be nice to be able to add more than one genre for each book, it'll make it more precise I have no idea how to make such a change to it otherwise I would have done it myself
I am so glad you made this! Cawpile seemed rather intimidating initially but it's so easy and I think it'll help me rate my books better as I'm far too easily swayed to give things an easy 4/5 star based off of just random feels when I finish it.
This is awesome. As someone who feels like my ratings always come out very vanilla or polite. I look forward to using this to be more critical of the books I read this year.
Just opened UA-cam, saw you had a new video out and actually said “yay” out loud because I love watching everything you put out and I am so excited to see an updated version of this! 💜😍💜 Edit: Now that I’ve watched I can’t wait to download the spreadsheet. It’s very similar to the tracker I just put in my bujo for the new year, lol. I’ve used CAWPILE for a few books but plan on using it exclusively for rating this year! :)
G!! SERIOUSLY?!? HOW COME YOU’RE SO AMEOWZING?!? This is incredible and ridiculously generous of you to teach us this, and for you to create and share this spreadsheet. You’re unbelievable, woman!! I just love ya! Thank you!! 😽😽🖤🖤
I've been wanting to use CAWPILE as a rating system on my blog (of course I'll credit you!) for a while now and thanks to the spreadsheet it makes it so much easier! You're a wonderful person G, thank you ❤️
This is super helpful! I always felt like star ratings were really arbitrary so this will help me figure out a good way to rate books for Goodreads. Edelweiss uses a system similar to this for their ratings when you give a review. You put so much work into this spreadsheet, thank you so much for sharing it with everyone for free!
If someone hasn't already said it, you are a GENIUS!! everything you do is so amazing, from your videos, to your insta posts, the readathons and this 😍😍
This is the greatest thing to ever happen to my lack of reading stats. I am 100% using this from now on, bless your soul for creating this spreadsheet 😱🖤
I really like your categories! I think I would personally change logic to meaningful or something like that because it's important to me that a book is personally or socially meaningful to me! I'm going to try using cawpile together with my current rating system to see which one fits me better. Thanks for this!
I have been using this system since last year, it's amazing! I only changed it a bit to make each category weighted (enjoyment has more weight than logic, for example). I have my own spreadsheet, but this one helped me so much, I learned new things from it to make mine more efficient! =D Thank you so much for sharing this!
This has made my nerdy little heart so happy, I have tracked my reading for a few years now but this is so much more in depth, and the graphics are just the best!
I'm totally using this spreadsheet! I had already created my own but I don't know how to create the stats graphs. I could probably not be lazy and learn myself lol but I stumbled upon yours, so I really appreciate you putting this out for free for our use! CAWPILE is also new to me so I am excited to see how that goes. :D
Ooh this is really interesting! I will definitely use it. I don't know if I will actually let it define my star ratings but I might have like a note in my Goodreads review that says "CAWPILE rating."
(Sorry for the caps I copied this from insta haha) GUYS! IF YOU GOT THE SPREADSHEET A WHILE BACK (within first 3 hours of the upload) PLEASE DOWNLOAD A NEW COPY AS A COUPLE OF TOP ROWS HAD A FORMULA MISSING FROM WHEN I DELETED THE DEMO INFO! THIS WILL MAKE THE STAR RATING STATS NOT SHOW UP FOR THE FIRST 15 OR SO ROWS! IF YOURS SHOW UP JUST MEANS YOU DOWNLOADED IT AFTER I ADDED THAT BACK ON 🥰 YOU CAN DOWNLOAD A NEW ONE AND COPY-PASTE YOUR INFO IF YOU ALREADY PUT SOME IN! ♥️♥️♥️
This spreadsheet is amazing! Normally I would rate books by enjoyment , but this is so much more fun en specific and so handy to write reviews! Thank you G!
I've been using CAWPILE since you've introduced it to us, but I never checked out this video before. Looking forward to using this spreadsheet now. Thank you so much, G!
I watched your old video on this and loved it but I've always rated my books based on feeling. This year I think I'm going to change it up and try your system since I feel so wishy washy about my own ratings. If you don't mind, I'm going to call it EPIC LAW instead since I'm a law student and it fits. Love this and thank you for sharing it with us!
Thank you so much for this video and the spreadsheet!! I always track my books on a reading journal and it's really hard for me to be objective when choosing the ratings for the books. It's my first time hearing about the cawpile system, maybe because not many Brazilians know about it. I'll definitely give it a try and talk about it on my booktube channel, and give you all the credit of course and link this video ❤️
I love this and feel like it’s a great way to determine why books are getting rated the way they are and what you like in books-I’m going to give this a try. Also I LOVE things that are extra lol
I'm so excited to use this spreadsheet! It will make it so easy to use your system. I remember your other video and I liked the idea of CAWPILE, but when it came down to it I still just went mainly with my enjoyment level. I love that this calculates it all for me. Thank you so much for all the effort you put into it! :)
This rating system is AWESOME!! I have been having a hard time with writing up my reviews. Your system is going to be awesome to use. So organized! Love this a lot!!
This system looks fantastic! And the spreadsheet is sooo helpful!! Thank you for taking the time to make the spread sheet AND to explain it to us!! Im starting this is January 2024!!
Finally created mine and I absolutely love your system! I was stuck between 4-5 stars for the books for the Caraval series and this helped me to see my true rating!
I don’t rate books at all because it takes the enjoyment out of reading for me when I’m constantly thinking about what I like and what I’m going to rate it. I only rate if it’s a very clear 5* read for me. So my average rating is 5* lol. I’m still gonna use this cause I’m interested in the other stats! Thank you!!
I am so excited to check this rating system out. I have been needing some better structure when it comes to rating my books. On my copy of the sheet, I switched the POC author for if the book was a reread. I think that will be more useful for me. I already plugged in the book I finished today. So this was great timing. Looking forward to using this for 2020.
I love the rating system! Kind of funny, I just went in and put in all of the books I read this year and it came out pretty close to what I rated without a system.
Ooooh, I'd never heard of CAWPILE, but it looks super useful! I haven't been giving things star rating for a while because they seemed so arbitrary but I'm excited to start doing it again!
I used a spreadsheet last year and loved it. I’m going to use yours this year! Sometimes I have a hard time rating a book, and I think your system is going to really help me.
Thank you so much! I cannot wait to start using this. I have been wanting a better way to rate/analyze the books I read so it doesn't feel so much like just an arbitrary star rating based solely on how the book made me feel. I am not good at analyzing books so looking at each of the 7 CAWPILE categories will be different for me. I am super excited to give it a go! You are the best G! ❤️
How have I only just found this? Ah this will help my reviews so much as I struggle to decide what stars it should be given! Thank you. Also, you’re glasses are beaut 😍
Also, I've been using your cawpile since day 1 but also needed a bit more guidance on the actual rating of individual categories so I'm consistent over time. I made this lil scale which may be helpful. 10/10 - One of my favourites ever. 9/10 - Excellent. Maybe one little problem holding it back, but that's it. 8/10 - Great. A couple of problems, but nothing major. 7/10 - Good. Nothing groundbreaking, and it certainly has issues, but I enjoy it. 6/10 - Ok. Lots of good things and a fair amount of bad things, but the former prevails. 5/10 - Mediocre. Basically, for every good thing, there's something bad. 4/10 - Poor. A lot of good things, but the bad outweighs the good. 3/10 - Bad. A few good things but overall not enjoyable. 2/10 - Horrible. Maybe one potentially good thing but not enough to redeem 1/10 - Abysmal. Shouldn't have been published. Needs serious work.
Thanks for this video! I’ve actually been considering coming up with a more involved system for myself, and now a good chunk of that you’ve already described in detail. I’m with Logan... the 5 star rating system just doesn’t allow for enough detail for me, and I really struggle with picking the right number. I’d much rather make it a number out of a hundred... or a minimum of a number out of 10.
Okay so nothing against this video but I fell asleep about halfway through this video and woke up to one of your vlogs playing from a magical readathon and was so confused about what month/year it was 😂😂
I must confess I was a little intimidated at first as numbers really aren't my friend, but I really like the sound of this. And I want charts and pie charts of my own, so I will be trying this as soon as I have access to my laptop 😊
Man, this blue book sounds really compelling. :-) I love your system, I've never really been able to do it myself. But I may play around with this spreadsheet this year and see if I can make it a thing for the year. You are wonderful, as always.
Hei G., just wanted to say that you are an absolute gorgous person, keep being as humorous and positive as you are 😘 watched you a LOT in 2019 and you became my favorurite youtuber to watch, loved all your videos 😊 excited to see what 2020 holds for you!
This is perfect, and it'll certain help with writing reviews as well, gets you to think what worked in the story for you or not. Thank you for sharing!
This rating system is my favorite!! Thank you for the spreadsheet~ I tweaked it a bit to fit some of the other stuff that I also like to track and match my branding colors but it is everything!!
Love that you did this! Never rated my reads before but its going to be fun using your cawpile in 2020. Also a great way to track my reading! so thanks! your the best!
ok, you go all out and I love it! I will definitely be using this for 2020, so convenient and I love having a system for rating my books. Thank you for all the time and effort that went into this. Love your videos!
This system is so awesome! This year I'm trying to read more & I started a reading journal to keep track of what I read. I'm now also gonna use you're really cool spreadsheet to do my ratings! Thanks so much!
This system is the reason I trust your ratings more than anyone elses!
Thank you, your trust means so much! ✨🖤🖤
I love CAWPILE and have been using it for about a year now. It's so helpful when you write reviews too, because it gives you specific things to focus on.
That being said, I really need to know who murdered Papa Blue!
Aw I’m so happy to hear it’s been working for you! ♥️ hahah it will be the biggest mystery of 2020 😱😱
Maybe it was you O.O
Going to start using for 2020!
@@savannahcarlon7033 Plot twist! 😱😂
I LOVE this! I’ve been wanting to find a better way to rate my books than “hmmmm how many stars does this feel like?” 😅 Thank you for sharing!
Spreadsheets make my nerd heart happy! I can't wait to check it out when I get home from work. I wonder if my book ratings will change a lot vs. my gut star rating.
I wonder too! I’d love it if you could tell me!! ♥️
I love this spreadsheet!!!! Note for US users though, use the UK date format (or change the spreadsheet to US date format) otherwise the date calculations won't work. US=month/day/year UK= day/month/year It literally took me 10 minutes to figure out why the formula wasn't working for me. lol

Aw happy to hear it is useful! I hope you’ll enjoy using it! And thank you for all your kind words, hope you’re keeping safe ♥️
Oh my god, this system satisfies my organizing self! I am definitely gonna use the spreadsheet. I always thought the de goodreads way wasn't helpful in many ways, and this definitely is. It is also gonna help me a lot to think more through about what I really think of the books.
I so appreciate that spreadsheet. I never learned how to use Excel and I'm impressed that it actually works.
Thank you SO MUCH for the spreadsheet! One of my reading goals is to use CAWPILE for every book I read.
Okay, now this is a great outline to help structure my book reviews. Maths was never my strong point so I'm happy the spreadsheet will fix all of that. I have subscribed to your youtube channel. I know that this video is old but this is evergreen content as it is still relevant. Great stuff!
Now I kind of want to read the big blue book :D
It’s really good, got 4 stars! 😂
Thanks so much for making this available - here via JadeyRae, who recommended I check out your channel when I asked about her rating system. Really looking forward to using CAWPILE (and I ALSO really want to know who murdered Papa Blue ;-) :-D :-D )

I still remember when you messaged me saying you were thinking about creating a rating system and a simple spreadsheet to go with it. Now we are here :')
Also let us all remember The Big Blue Book as your debut novel haha.
I remember that too! I was convinced people will think I’m crazy for being extra 😂😂♥️
"Does it frequently lead to your unfortunate demise?"
This is sooooo helpful and awesome and satisfying! Goodreads should totally employ you to make their website better, lol.
I’m using your spreadsheet for the first time this year and I’m so excited. Thanks for putting so much thought into it and sharing it with all of us!
I have officially switched to this rating system now - I love it!! Thank you so much for making this amazing spreadsheet and helpful video 💜💜
I only heard about this recently, going to give it a go as I always struggle with star ratings when comparing to other books 😅 Thank you!
I used your rating system especially when I'm not sure how to rate a book right away. I remember it as EPIC LAW because I think someone commented that on your original video haha, and sometimes I just do it on the 1-5 scale for each category so the math is even simpler and just finding the true average.
I just start using it and its fantastic!!!!!
it helps so much and it's really fun
thank you so much for making this and sharing it for free!
only one suggestion: it would be nice to be able to add more than one genre for each book, it'll make it more precise
I have no idea how to make such a change to it otherwise I would have done it myself
This is so cool. This might help me think more critically about my reading. Also I really need to know more about the Big Blue Book.
Oh my gosh that spreadsheet is amazing. Makes my little Ravenclaw heart happy!
I just found this video and the rating system and spreadsheet are LIFE CHANGING!!!! thank you!!!
Edit: Now that I’ve watched I can’t wait to download the spreadsheet.
Thank you!! 😽😽🖤🖤
Sharing is G's middle name
lazy homebody So true!
I've been wanting to use CAWPILE as a rating system on my blog (of course I'll credit you!) for a while now and thanks to the spreadsheet it makes it so much easier! You're a wonderful person G, thank you ❤️

So glad you like it! ♥️
Thanks! This is going to be very helpful going forward. Love the spreadsheet!
I LOVE CAWPILE! G, you are amazing and make my Booknerd heart happy!!!
Wow! Thank you for this spreadsheet! I can't wait to write all my books into it!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to making and explaining this spreadsheet for us! We really appreciate it
If someone hasn't already said it, you are a GENIUS!! everything you do is so amazing, from your videos, to your insta posts, the readathons and this 😍😍
This is the greatest thing to ever happen to my lack of reading stats.
Thank you so much for your sheet, I was looking for something like this but I suck in spreadsheet. Thank you again!
This is what I’ve always been waiting for in my reading life!!!
I have been using this system since last year, it's amazing! I only changed it a bit to make each category weighted (enjoyment has more weight than logic, for example). I have my own spreadsheet, but this one helped me so much, I learned new things from it to make mine more efficient! =D Thank you so much for sharing this!
You are so talented!! I’m still reeling from the magical readathon and now you have given us this! Thank you so so much 🥲
nice ... i never used the cawpile system before and maybe i should for am a bit generous when giving stars to books ^^
wonderful video as usual ^^
This has made my nerdy little heart so happy, I have tracked my reading for a few years now but this is so much more in depth, and the graphics are just the best!

Ooh this is really interesting! I will definitely use it. I don't know if I will actually let it define my star ratings but I might have like a note in my Goodreads review that says "CAWPILE rating."

thanks a lot for sharing with us how you rate books and also the Reading Tracker Spreadshee 👍❤️❤️
Thank you a lot for sharing the spreadsheet. It's amazing and I'll be using it through the year and for life. You're lovely!
I've been using CAWPILE since you've introduced it to us, but I never checked out this video before.

Hahah yes absolutely!! EPIC LAW sounds awesome 😂♥️
This is so helpful. Thank you. The link to GSheets still works.

OMG This is amazing. Thanks so much G! I have been looking for this forever!!
I liked the little skit in the original CAWPILE video 😂💖
I repressed I ever did that hahahaha
I love this. I prefer this video to the last one it made it so much easier to understand the whole process
How have I only just found this? Ah this will help my reviews so much as I struggle to decide what stars it should be given! Thank you. Also, you’re glasses are beaut 😍
Oh my god, I just started a bookstagram and I also hate the five star system on goodreads so this is sooooo helpful! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
7:45 wait! Hold on! Who killed Papa Blue?!
Wouldn’t want to spoil the book for you! 😱🤐
😂😂 dang it!
I love this and look forward to trying it out. I also like spreadsheets!
I'm gonna try it and compare it to my intuitive reading ! thanks a lot!
Also, I've been using your cawpile since day 1 but also needed a bit more guidance on the actual rating of individual categories so I'm consistent over time. I made this lil scale which may be helpful.

I’m with Logan... the 5 star rating system just doesn’t allow for enough detail for me, and I really struggle with picking the right number. I’d much rather make it a number out of a hundred... or a minimum of a number out of 10.
Oh my goodness, this is so helpful! Now I don’t have create my own spreadsheet for stats for this coming year. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Okay so nothing against this video but I fell asleep about halfway through this video and woke up to one of your vlogs playing from a magical readathon and was so confused about what month/year it was 😂😂
Just discovered this spreadsheet I love this I love organisation thank you for this x
I think I might start doing this!! Thanks for making this video!❤️
Thank you for the spreadsheet. This rating style is awesome
I must confess I was a little intimidated at first as numbers really aren't my friend, but I really like the sound of this. And I want charts and pie charts of my own, so I will be trying this as soon as I have access to my laptop 😊
I'm actually a nerd for spreadsheets and calculating rating numbers, so I'll definitely use the cawpile system in the new year :D
Ah thank you so much!! Definitely going to use this! I've been using cawpile for about 6 months now, I love it!
Man, this blue book sounds really compelling. :-)
I love your system, I've never really been able to do it myself. But I may play around with this spreadsheet this year and see if I can make it a thing for the year. You are wonderful, as always.
I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED FOR THIS! I'M ALSO USING IT AS A CHALLENGE TO HELP ME READ A BOOK BY A CERTAIN DATE.
