Interviewer seems to think she's quite clever while speaking with men who actually are. Her jokes are obvious and all at their expense, as in; "Look how brave I am to stand up to these titans of industry!"
No, the thing which annoys me the most when she talks is the fact that she laughs at her own "jokes" (the Snapchat thing really made me want to slap her).
Oh and while at it : I wish there could be lessons, tricks, moocs or what have you to teach you how not to listen to annoying people. It would also teach you how not to read ad billboards when you see them. No even better it would make you just blind about those billboards. You wouldn't be able to see them AT ALL. That would be amazing.
Yeah probably but our economy as a whole is based on advertizing : This is the fuel that makes eveything goes. So how would you do without advertising ?
Reid knew if he took that outside seat he would be even more marginalized in this conversation than he already was. With most of the attention going to pmarca, at least he would be in-frame while Andreessen flexed that big beautiful brain of his. Long live our golden boy, the University of Illinois's own Marc Andreessen ;-)
Interesting interview, and Andreessen is clearly a smart and interesting guy, but the criteria for authority/integrity in the media is whether they tell the truth about the present, not whether they can predict the future. (Predicting the future is how you make money!)
I love the way Marc chuckled on the tiny celebration the host made after getting him to confirm he is pro-immigration. Class acts and incredibly smart people, both of these guys.
Honestly, I disagree with the comments below. She doesn't have an obligation to 'be nice'. Nowadays, people are just too used to fluffy journalism and smiling hosts. In fact, watching it I kept noticing how they didn't let her speak [most times she cut them off, it was because they were trying to give a cherry-pie answer or deviate from the original question being asked]. It's actually quite rare nowadays to see interviewers who can put on a straight face and say, "That was not the question that was asked".
God I love Kara Swisher. Such a ray of light, esp for the ones in or enamored by the Silicon Valley bubbles. Straightforward yet simple questions. Hard questions are not "rude." They are just hard questions to hold to account powerful people and their actions.
Andreessen has phenomenal capacity of holding opposing views while operating at normal level - swinging back and forth between Obama is a dictator to he's weak and ineffective and then bringing up Breibart talking points on Obama not closing Guantanamo etc...
As Marc expected 6 years later and no one is worried about Midwest jobs market. I don't think SF journalists have brought any jobs to my relatives.....at least a lot of them are starting to see the light.
Alternative facts do exist. They are the facts that are relevant for one party opposed to the facts that seem to be relevant to another party. It's called debating.
Wow I was expecting a lot of juicy entrepreneurial advices and knowledge from these two but instead Karen managed to turn it into ant-businesses and liberals talks. Wack!!
Why does she invite people on her show to have conversations just so she can throw shade the whole time? She really needs to get the stick out of her attitude. Grow up.
I have listened to this lady do interviews multiple times. She is so bad at her job, always bringing a bad attitude and her own personal views and biases. Please don’t let her conduct more high level interviews.
Marc Andreessen's rapid fire speech tends to display defensiveness. Does not inspire a lot of confidence. I respected him as a creator of Netacape, he is now merely a billionaire and Facebook backer. Both Peter and Elon clearly have more confidence.
Somehow I get this impression that she thinks what these two are doing is destroying the civilization. I am with her. There are nuclear weapons and then guys like them.
Alice Hutin When the comments are worded like this: "That woman was disrespectful to those men.", it comes off as sexism. Those comments could be made gender neutral by saying, "The interviewer was disrespectful to the interviewees." I think regardless of gender, The interviewer seemed to be unnecessarily condescending in a way that did not further the interview. Based on the comments, that observation seems to have a strong consensus.
The host is a legend in her own mind
Interviewer seems to think she's quite clever while speaking with men who actually are. Her jokes are obvious and all at their expense, as in; "Look how brave I am to stand up to these titans of industry!"
Agree! That's exactly the comment I was looking for. And oh guess what? Your comment came first ;)
No, the thing which annoys me the most when she talks is the fact that she laughs at her own "jokes" (the Snapchat thing really made me want to slap her).
But guess what Henri : You coud also (at least try) not give a f.... That would be even better

Andreessen always deliver
Marc Andreessen is playing the interview.
fire that interviewer and more respect to these geniuses.
this lady was arrogant and rude
>geniuses
lel
couldn't agree more.
The interviewer is rude
"U never get boring Mac Andreessen." Oh his beautiful way of contrasting & articulating things.❤️❤️❤️❤️
More like "an argumentation with Marc and Reid" than an interview
Interesting interview, and Andreessen is clearly a smart and interesting guy, but the criteria for authority/integrity in the media is whether they tell the truth about the present, not whether they can predict the future. (Predicting the future is how you make money!)

Everyone is pro immigration. It’s the illegal immigration is the problem

MyAkachi I agree, she's not there to be nice but to ask thought provoking questions
Hard to listen to this interviewer.
I agree, I almost stopped listening because she's so repellent.
0:08 Reid shooting for that inside seat ...
🤣
Great interview subjects. Horrible interviewer.
Is the interviewer a human or a robot?
God I love Kara Swisher. Such a ray of light, esp for the ones in or enamored by the Silicon Valley bubbles. Straightforward yet simple questions. Hard questions are not "rude." They are just hard questions to hold to account powerful people and their actions.
It’s interesting that she didn’t like the push back from her guest. It’s easy to “straightforward” if you don’t get pushback
33:58 Ballistic turbo mode switched on!
Dr Janardhana Hebbar Yup! Ironic that these questions come from one of the Men at the Helm at Facebook.
Andreessen has phenomenal capacity of holding opposing views while operating at normal level - swinging back and forth between Obama is a dictator to he's weak and ineffective and then bringing up Breibart talking points on Obama not closing Guantanamo etc...
Kind of arrogant interviewer
When your interview subjects are 'masters of the universe'-types the best way to get real info is to ~insult them.
Derek Braid true
I'm definitely watching this tomorrow! Gn
As Marc expected 6 years later and no one is worried about Midwest jobs market. I don't think SF journalists have brought any jobs to my relatives.....at least a lot of them are starting to see the light.
Very sophisticated interviewer
anyone care to explain 13:45 to me? Y was that juvenile?

Olivier Onghena Those aren't facts, they are opposing views.
They talk so fast. Relax.
Why does this one dude look like a white version of lavell crawford from breaking bad

Damien Lee great analysis, didn't see it that way.
Damien Lee He reminds me of Peter Thiel. They are both very attached to their own views, regardless of whether or not they are right or wrong.
Somehow I get this impression that she thinks what these two are doing is destroying the civilization. I am with her. There are nuclear weapons and then guys like them.
shame on the guy in the blue shirt who repeats the lie about unemployment being 4%.
the sexism in the comments gives me life. go kara.

Where do you see sexism? People are just saying she's rude etc., which she is.
Has nothing to do with sexism.
