Thanks for this. I had one installed at Chicago Music Exchange. There was a bad rattle sound. Mine is a round neck. When I played it on my lap the rattle stopped. Turned out they never put the vaseline on. I couldn’t sleep Christmas Eve so I took it apart and figured it out after watching your video. I used chapstick and it’s all better! Like getting a new guitar for Christmas!
I felt that on another level when you broke a string. Only people who play low open tuning will get this. Already replaced 2 high E strings going from DM to EM.
Why the chap-stick ? Seems to me its a barrier which dulls the contact between the cone and pick-up and thereby diminish the actual tone to some degree.
Possible to just drill a hole in the actual strap pin ? I dont like the idea to drill another hole on my resonator. I like when the jack input is hidden in the strap pin
Couple of questions. First, in the demo did you use a preamp? Or plug straight in? Secondly, what tuning? Have a roundneck Dobro hounddog resonator that I'm considering this pickup for. How does the cable jack look once installed??
That would be difficult since the cable is mounted to the black side. Here is the manual for this pickup, check out the pics, the pickup is right-side up, no worries. kksound.com/pdf/pureresonatorsb.pdf

I love this story, thanks for sharing!
thank you for showing this ! look`s like a good pick-up ! you need to secure the lead so it does not touch the cone and cause a rattle !

5:27 - No! You have got to be kidding me! :O

Hi Jeremy, I suppose that depends on the tail piece in your dobro. On mine, the strap peg is part of it so it wasn't an option for me.

Sounds very nice!
Hi. Good vid. What is that tailpiece you have on that reso? Thanks. Al
Hi Allan, thanks for watching! The bridge is made by Hip Shot. called the DoubleShot Dobro bridge.
Thank you.
Looks like you put the pickup in upside down. Should have black side contacting cone.

You are right, enjoy playing the guitar. I am going to try making one out of my old Maton.
do you have Reverb on the dobro from the amp. or is it ROOM sound?.
Heya Ted, that's amp reverb.
Thanks, is it as Microphonic feedback prone as the Fishman Doughnut type?.ted.
5.27, yeah... shudda started with that tension thingy off, dude lol.
That's called a "NUT" not a screw!!!
