Because a) Smite is (obvisoubly) a summoner spell, but has a pretty low CD, so you can proc Nimbus Cloak pretty often, even in lane. If you ran Ignite, you would only proc Nimbus Cloak when you all-in. With smite you can use it to trade and escape easily by using it on a minion (before upgrade) or on a champion. BUT you will have to build every component else than the jungle item first because otherwise you will get almost no gold from CS. b) The jungle item with the Runic echo upgrade has low cost and good stats, so you will get a big early powerspike

So much I used to duo with a friend and he would jungle and gank other lanes while I toped solo and would always beat ppl 2v1 from mechanics and just the exp+item advantage.

Pretty much what everyone else said and knowing when you should be expecting a typical gank and also knowing your dmg so you can bait your opponent into pretty much killing themselves by fighting a bad fight. Also understand this is a video where he just didn’t get camped. I watch other streamers who are really good and get camped in all elos. Sometimes it just happens others you’re the lucky one with a jungler who pitches a tent in your lane. Luck of the draw type of thing.

I think jungle items do not work on lane champions anymore. I built it to test and all the lane minions would all grant only 1+ gold upon kill.
