How in the fuk could something sound better backwards, than forwards? And who was the utter genius in the band who decided to at least give that intro a listen backwards? This will forever blow my mind.
One of the best intros of all time, sometimes I play only the intro. don't get me wrong the song is amazing but the intro is beyond this world. For me is like epic or the feeling of someone ready for a battle.... I don't know..
I never knew why I was so mesmerized by that intro. I knew there was something different but could not place a finger on it. It was REVERSED!!!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you, for putting that mystery to rest for me. Awesome job!
most devastatingly beautiful intro ever written. I wish i could play the guitar like you. If i did, i would probably play Blackened over and over non-stop until i die.
so FUCKING good. I've watched like 20 covers of this song on youtube and your tone is by far the best, its just so damn clear and percussive. the palm muted E's in the main riff sound so good. I would give anything for that tone lol
Dude, this is a GREAT cover of a really, really tough song. This is easily one of my favorite Metallica songs ever. I'm 40 now and still remember when I bought And Justice for All on tape and heard Blackened for the first time. Absolutely blew my mind. I've recently come back to playing guitar after many years and I'm learning this song again. Just want to say I appreciate the hell out of this cover, because it is NOT easy. But it is very rewarding when it starts coming together.
At first I was like 'there's something odd with this guy's mixing in the intro' Then I realized the most basic thing ever: this one finally has bass lmaoooo
@5:25 I have been listening to this song for years and just realized this riff sounds life the jaws theme. I was always focused on the solo and Never realized it before.🤯
Without a doubt, one of the best covers of Blackened I have ever heard! Perfect timing and tone... However... James downpicks the ENTIRE SONG! Absolutely incredible job though!!!🤘🤘🤘
You hit that technique sweet spot where your playing has just the right amount of startling tightness and precision but without sounding mechanical. Your tone slays too.
Bro.. First off that tone.. Unbelievable.. I have played covers since 2007. and this is an absolutely incredible cover. I 100% respect you for this, I know what it took and how much practice and passion it took to nail this. Thank you for your everything. You NAILED IT.
I don’t give a flying flip what some these people are saying about the alternate/down picking. It sounds amazing with your mixture of both. Keep up the great playing, bro 🔥🤘🏻
Could you imagine that this is the firts metallica's song I heard in my life after been listening hard rock... ("and justice" was my first album than I heard)... it blow my head!!
Hell yeah my dude. Fantastic cover. Love that you gave us the proper intro too. We all know Papa Het downpicks on this, but you nailed every note. Screw the haters!
Well done! As some people have posted it's not 100% correctly played as you're missing out a lot of the E down strokes. But it's your interpretation of the song and it still sounds great!!
he is down picking the verses which is the part that is most noticebale. Most wouldb't even notice the alternate picking in the intro if it were a blind test. I'd alternate pick the intro too-- long song to downpick all the way through
hands down the best cover on youtube of blackened. I’d pay good money to be able play the guitar, especially as good as you. Just feel like 23 is too late to get into it
Thank you for the compliments. Appreciate it! I don’t think 23 is too late. Never give up playing. Just enjoy it. No one has to be perfect. I am not perfect too. For instance, I am not very good on solos. Just keep playing and enjoying it. Thanks again. Cheers!
@@johnp82 No way guy thrasher plays it all downpicking tight af.. nails the solo and does it all wearing a GAS MASK while standing up and playing. The person in this video above does alright but he needs to do nothing but downpick for a year if he wants to play this properly. The pick attack isnt hard enough when he uses an upstroke after the fretted E notes.
@@tankutaydinliyim For the solo's try this. Play any note on the fretboard with your first finger. Pick the note very soft. You can almost barely feel the string vibrate while your fretting finger is pressing down on the note. Now play the same note again only this time pick it HARD. You can now feel the string vibrate under your fretting hand finger. Each note should FEEL like this. When you try to play fast while using your ear your brain has to try to process the sound of each note which takes longer than doing it by feel. And of course you should do this slowly at first elminating all tension while slowly building speed.
Veryyy good my friend👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 the best cover i have seen of this song. Very good playing!!! If James is looking for a substitute, you can fill in for him. Greetings from Holland.

Love what you've done with the Epiphone Explorer. I've literally just got mine out of the case for the first time in about 5 years, still got all the original parts, apart from the stop-bar, which I've lost somewhere 😒
I heard it was Jason’ idea to play it in reverse and they thanked him by cutting bass out the album

It makes me feel like a fucking badass lmao
Your bass playing is on point.

Really on point, just like the original recording.
I think he has the bass stems from the song, it’s TOO accurate

It's interesting how the intro sounds so doomy normally and so oddly hopeful when non-reversed
Jason also came up with the main riff...easily, one of the most dark and metal riffs to still exist.
I wonder who was the genius who came up with the idea to reverse that intro, it's glorious!
I believe that would be Jason!
