When some people travel, they take photos on their phone to remember a trip. Old-soul voyager’s recount their adventures with pen to paper. But for globetrotting Hermanos Gutiérrez (featuring brothers Alejandro & Estevan), they let their experiences conjure soundtracks. Their most pivotal visit was years ago when experiencing the American Southwest.
A couple years after forming their duo, they took a trip through Death Valley and the Mojave Desert. “It just blew our minds.” Estevan told PG. The desert, he says, “is where our music was born.”
“Part of what we’re doing is traveling together as brothers,” Alejandro told PG in 2022, “so we go to places, we come back and we’re feeling inspired, and we feel like we’ve gotta write something about this place.”
And while these wanderers have found bountiful inspiration in the West, their mystic compositions provide the score to their sonic souvenirs and passport stamps on their consciousness.
“It’s just beautiful where we can go with this music,” says Alejandro. “It’s just my brother and I together, and we’re so happy to have this.”
The Hermanos Gutiérrez sold-out concert at Nashville’s Basement East on June 20th marked their first return performing in Music City since recording El Bueno Y El Malo with Dan Auerbach at Easy Eye Sound in 2022. The pair invited PG’s Chris Kies onstage to decode their spellbinding cinematic sounds. The conversation touched on their symbiotic alchemy, enchanting hollowbodies, and how a single Strymon reset their slow-burn backdrop.

Listening to this kind of music makes going to the 7/11 feel like you’re in the movies.
Saw them at the Boulder Theater. They were phenomenal! Spoke with them after the show and asked them about their playing. They said make every note count. Play every note with passion. Soulful, gems. Love them ❤
El Capistan
When I listen to this music I'm riding a horse across some vast expanse, blue skies, and the scenery is amazing. Their music is so unique and amazing.
The coolest musicians in the world with the most emotional and beautiful music I have ever heard.
Hermanos Gutierrez songs are like M&Ms, you can never have just one!! Wow, what a treat to hear them live, thanks PG!!
Our pleasure!
So glad I heard about these Gents on Uncle Larry's channel!! Nothing beats a drink in the backyard when Hermanos Gutierrez permeating the speakers.
Best rig rundown sor far!!! Simple, informative and i love the idea of the artist performing a whole song at the end of the video. You should repeat this concept in futures rig rundown!!!
Los Hermanos Gutierrez sound awesome!!!
Awesome, thank you!
Agree. The song performed at the end was such a nice touch!
The Hermanos Gutiérrez’s guitars tone are superb! 🔥🎸Well done Premier Guitar! 🤟🏻
Wow, uncle Larry was right! This is some amazing amazing stuff. Need to listen to more, more, more of this😄
I agree Larry set me in this direction too.
I think Toms retirement gig someday should be a rig rundown interviewer
these guys music has been helping me to cope with some hard times, in the middle of the floods in Southern Brasil, their music is some kind of refuge to me..thank you
Interviewer does some really good questions. Kudos to him
These guys are so talented and the subtle guitar moves they do with percussion is genius
Dudes are so humble... saw them in Brazil, one of the best live performances i've seen in years. Takes you to another dimension.
I can't imagine sitting between thse two while they play the magic...awesome episode. just awesome.
Their sound is hypnotic I love it!
Nice! Uncle Larry was just talking about these cats
Some of the most truly interesting music that I can ever remember being featured on a Rig Rundown! And they seem like the nicest guys, too! Thanks for doing this!
Couldn't agree more!
these guys make such cool music!
Chris "Always-Prepared" Keys. These guys are a treat!
Their sound is moody and haunting , vintage but fresh . Dig it !
I haven't heard of these guys before this video, and even though I don't listen to this kind of music there's no denying that they're definitely talented as hell and they seem like really cool guys as well
Such a beautiful, authentic duo. I am in love with the unicorn stickers from his daughter.
Oh man i fucking love these guys, awesome rig rundown guests!
I think this is my favorite episode of Rig Rundown of all time. Such a feel, so much talent.
Saw them in Montreal along with a big spliff…..phenomenal tones.
Love their guitars and their vibe! Being from Miami I have a passion for fusion latino. Great run-down ❤🎸
nothing but love for the brothers!
Thanks to Uncle Larry for turning me on to these two. They are fantastic and their music creates such a cool mood. I picked up their latest CD and it is just a cool soundtrack to life.
love these guys..............been listening to them regularly for a couple of years now.......great to get some more detailed insights into their gear (however I know that their sound really comes from the touch, and their connection - the gear they use are simply personal preferential details.....but you gotta love those old 'Patent Applied For' Gretsch pickups, and that acoustic Ricky though)
Saw this incredible duo open up for Jason Isbell @ The Ryman last Fall and it was one of those rare musical awakening moments for me. Thanks very much for adding them to the RR series and hopefully introducing them to even more new fans. They deserve every accolade they get and beyond.
I've been waiting for this one!
Finally! Been waiting for this for awhile.
One of my favorite Rig Rundowns✌️.
Love the vibes
They are so great!! Love their style and music!
I learned about these guys today, and I'm loving everything they do.
What a band!
So so so good, this talent cannot be denied
Yes, been waiting for this one.
I am 100% loving the interview aspect!! It’s great to hear from thee Hermanos!! 💛
This is so cool. I love the deliberate quietness and the atmosphere they create. I instantly thought this lends itself to a film soundtrack like what Leonard Cohen did for McCabe And Mrs. Miller.
Their beautiful hypnotic music is so cool and unique. I like how true they are to their sound. It was really interesting to see their gear and pedals used to shape their sounds. Thanks!
so cool. Saw them about 6 years ago at a small gig in zurich, never heard of them before. i think they grew up in that area somewhere, now to see them having success is really cool.
Beautiful hypnotizing music. Well played indeed
Loved seeing them on a recent tour! Thanks for this great video and thank you to the Hermanos Gutierrez. Couldn't help ordering an El Capistan after watching...
I love these guys! They are amazing. They are on my favs on Spotify.
So cool. Such a vibe.
These guys are awesome!

I LOVE these guys tones. SWEET!!!
Wonderful! Beautiful music, interesting people, nice personalities. Thanks.
Cool sound!!!
Pretty awesome setup! Simple and effective and powerful! These guys are a breath of fresh air…. Such rich beautiful tone!!!
Hypnotic Trance music, Very swirly with a Panoramic open canyon soundscape! Deep wide pocket that you FEEL! Beautiful Gentleman. Thanks for sharing I can't wait to see you live.
Love these guys. Thanks for the great rundown!
Our pleasure!
This was a really cool one to watch
Great interview!
They are really good!!
That loop at the end. Theyre amazing
🎉 absolutely incredible!!!
They’re like a more muzacky version of Portugal’s ‘Dead Combo’.
Love these guys. I respect Dan for giving them the rub, but they had this sound from the start. Humble and kind with zero concern for gear or anything, just what works. El Camino De Mi Alma, Cerca De Ti, Mesa Redonda, Mi Amor.
Much respect. I've never been this floored.
Cool guys and interview!
SO Very Cool, Thankyou. So Awesome. Cheers
Listening to Cerca De Ti for the first time on a Spotify shuffle playlist made me fall in love with their style. And being Mexican, really pulled on the heart strings about my heritage and where my lineage came from, especially the music. I always loved western style music, fashion, and movies. These guys are a work of art.
Hermanos fantasticos. un saludo ✌🏼
This is awesome .
LOVE LOVE LOVE!! ❤❤
Awesome!!!!!!!
Very informative
Uncle Larry definitely was right about these cats 🎸
These guys are the epitome of cool.
Los hermanos Gutierrez, no los conocía.
My fav not much gear but a lot of music 🎶
I love that this guitar magazine would dare to feature a different kind of music besides the same old blues rock and metal. Don’t get me wrong, I dig the blues and rock but man I like other kinds of music too and it’s refreshing to see these guys, their music is incredible. I’d love to see something about Calexico too. If you like these guys you’d probably like Calexico as well, similar style.
“Straight into the desert with this instrument”… as they transport us straight into the desert.

I have the exact same guitar (6120-59 Vintage Select) and it’s gratifying to see it rescued from it’s cliched reputation for “Rockabilly”. These awesome tone machines can do so much more as is evidenced here.
Would love to know what tuning he uses on the lapsteel
Anyone know what kind of strings that would go on the lap steel?
What tuning is the lap steel in?
so fuckin cool
The Silvertone 1446 model is the best electric guitar ever made.
I was setting up for a band once and felt bad that i drank too much root beer at the bar for setting up for them because as they saw i spilt one
how can i find these video from the master guitar tech ....i loook but i dont no. thx have fun and somthing.
