I know for many, this is their favorite performance of this song, but I still find her version in “From Lara With Love” to be my favorite. For my money, it is the most perfect stage performance I’ve ever seen. But how can you go wrong with any Lara performance.

To the best of my knowledge no Diva has ever done that in a performance. Such originality. She did not need any Mic.
I loved the woman in her 30 year with her intensity and her vocal performances.
I loved the 40 year old with her willingness to discover many different musical styles, always with a fabulous voice.
And I love the woman in her 50s who has managed to preserve her voice through hard work, adapting to the evolution of her voice while retaining that little bit of enthusiasm and complicity that makes us melt.

Because the term "correct", as used by you, refers to an artistic execution, yes, without errors, but measured, ordinary, almost dull and foreseen, in short, carried out by someone who has to carry out a banal "routine" task.
On the contrary, I believe that this performance at the 2003 Paris Olympia can be defined in many ways - including theatrical, rhetorical, baroque, (melo)dramatic, overabundant and grandiloquent (also in contrast with the extreme sobriety of the scenography and musical instrumentation), feverish, agonizint -, but "correct" seems to me, precisely, the most distant and least faithful term to describe what is instead seen and heard in reality.

Thank you Maddy. I love this version here more than the one From Lara With Love, i think it‘s more emotional. I mean when the pianist gets up and Lara finished the song alone and without a microphone, it's incredible. The whole concert is a masterpiece.

Thanks for the reaction. As other mentioned this her preferred concert... and for many fans too. Mostly in french, but you already reacted to Callung you the one song in english. I would encourage you to listen again to "calling you" with her spoken intro (not in the short version you reacted to then). This intro beautifully sets the scene. You can find it in the same video of the full concert at 1h14m30s... Maybe just to watch on your own or to react again to one of your preferred performance of Lara. Enjoy.
She has a version of this that is considered a Master piece. I think it is from a 1999 concert. It is incredible !!! You will see the difference

“Je suis Malade”, now a french classic, was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973.
This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …).
When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and composed the music in a couple of hours.
The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes.
Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad.
But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s.
At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version.
She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet during his own Paris concert in January 1995. It was a triumph. So he sat in a front row seat and asked her to sing it again alone.
Lara also had made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power. Serge and Lara became good friends and performed several other duets later on.

is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries.
The most recent ones I am aware of are from italian singer Giulia Falcone, from the korean singer Choi Sung Hoon or from the korean band Forestella.
Lara is used to perform the song very differently in each of her tour and for instance the En Toute Intimité, 2003, Paris Olympia version is even more dramatic

Nice reaction! I think this is the best version of the song, but seldom see a reaction of it. Lara is the absolute queen of dramatic performances with a voice like no other. She's sometimes compared with Celine, but C has a far more nasal sound. Even now, when she's passed 50, she's still the best you'll ever find.
As I am French and already of a certain age I know this song since it came out in the 70s. Whether it is by its first performer Serge Lama or by Lara Fabiant I am always in this state where the emotion becomes strong.

" I no longer know where I should go , you are everywhere" I call this the Marseilles (anthem) of Misery and so so very French . With her great stage craft it is inspiring to see her become totally Italian with Perdere L' Amore. I'm told we are losing her , in Canada as she and Italian husband are now more resident in Sicily.
