I love visiting NYC. So much to see, and it's all funny.
A lot of weirdness depending on where you go. Takes me less than an hour to get into the city but I don’t go very often I find it exhausting lol.

I spend anywhere in NYC for more than 10 minutes, I get bored easily, and I live there (in Brooklyn) sometimes I have been to Manhattan for like months, sometimes even a couple years.

As a New Yorker, public transport here in NY, is why I'm grateful that I have my own car.
I just read a recent story where they hired a singing group to sing on a train here in Australia, Melbourne to cheer people up & they got blasted with complaints because everyone just wanted to go home from work with peace & quiet and didn’t want to be cheered up 😂😂 I thought it was funny but I have to agree sort of: I don’t even listen to music when I drive home from work because it’s loud and busy all day at my work & I need silence to get my sanity back

The thing about nyc is we can aporeciate talent, be it drummers, violinists, b boy dancers, piccalo musicians, or even modeling and acting

That drummer was amazing. I've never seen him on the train. To be honest, I'm so used to people begging and performing on the train that I ignore most of them and turn up the music on my headphones.

Been a New Yorker my whole life and after 43 years of living here these videos are pretty tame.(although I would never video a rat crawling up a sleeping subway rider, that pissed me off. Wake the damn guy up!) I never realized till now seeing from an outsider’s point of view how bonkers these random things are

They don't pay the performers, but instead allow them to perform on MTA property (which is private property). If they perform well, people drop money in their "hat". It's great!. 50 years ago you could make more than $75 a night, working on the street. That's about $250 today. Not to mention the enormous number of people who use the subway everyday.
During covid a neighboring state shut down their public beaches so all the street performers came to my state's beaches. Even though panhandling at our beach is illegal, or whatever type street performers fall under. But so much was going on at the time it was kind of ignored. There was a guy playing 5 gallon bucket drums all day and into late evening in front of where I worked. Dude was making a couple thousand a day easy. Like 20 times a day I see him dump out a third to half-full 5 gallon bucket into his van parked near by.
I had walked by him a few times to get lunch and it wasn't just $1s in the bucket. I saw plenty $5s, 10s, and a few 20s.

My commute to high school in Manhattan was an hour and a half give or take. I’d bring video games and even board games to play on the subway 🤷♂️

On a random Friday evening it’s 90% normal. And the other 10 can fight between weird and scary. Different times differ ALOT.

When I lived in queens, and got off work at around 1am, there were times I had to wait an hour for the N train. And then it would take about an hour to get home. Definitely wouldnt mind playing some games on a laptop to kill that time, if I only had one.
And I live in greenwich village for several years. nothing in this video is unusual.

Wow dragging a mattress on the IRT (the numbered subway lines) is a HUGE dick move the numbered trains are not as wide as the lettered trains and the 4/5/6 is always crowded 🙄

Not every city here is great like that. Philly is nutty. Crazy crap 24x7. Go to Pittsburgh and it's relatively tame and boring by comparison.
