Happens all the time... The only one to feel sorry for in this short story is Ricky.
This is the greatest, most tense, hilarious storyline ever told in an audition. The camerawork keeps panning perfectly, showing Ricky and Anna in one shot, Will waking up in another. Will dressed in all black, constantly staring across at Ricky, who is breathless at Anna, feels the stare and checks back questionably at Will. Will ponders until the last minute, grins, ignoring Ricky's gesture to stop, and Ricky looks gutted. It's love for Ricky and a game to Will. And then Anna chooses Will at the end...it's perfect.

You're completely right. Will only turned around to mess with Ricky. Ricky gives a look of contempt to Will at 3:03. I think that is what made Will want to turn around. I think he was surprised when she chose him. You can see it on his face. I definitely don't think he wanted her on his team.

From her intro, you can tell she wanted to _learn_ and Will is the one that said he’s teach her about all these other styles, and that’s the kind of expansion she wanted. Ricky was so love-struck his pitch was just “y-you are already perfect.. I-I- I think you could do anything” which is really sweet and could be better for commitment and dedication, but I understand why she chose who she did. Wasn’t the right choice in retrospect, but I think she felt panicked.
The best part I think is when Ricky gives Will the " so help me if you touch that buzzer I will cut you." glare. He was NOT happy about the competition.

I came here from ballet videos and thought I'd get a well sung melody and that's it. I got to hear a wonderful voice and witness a sad short love story, get heartbroken and devastated. And I feel like I've entered a select fandom for these two.

Luckily she's still kept her gypsy nymph style/uniqueness after the voice. She's doing well for herself, has played a few festivals and Sofar gigs. Making a small living doing what she loves I think. I saw her at Barfly in London some months back and she's still awesome with her band - And still that unique flair.
It happens! I sung "Black Velvet" at karaoke on a cruise ship. All of my friends saw a guy who was looking at me the same way Ricky was looking at her. That was 6 months ago and I am now engaged to him. He's the best thing to ever happen to me :)

When I first saw this audition, I was thinking that Will was going to be the only one cause he knows how to do rhythms and was the most near to Enya (If you know Enya, there's NO WAY you can think this voice is not like hers), and out of the four was the only one that could coach this Angelic Enya voice like. And the fact that she can play the Harp so nicely, add a big plus to her nature voice.

So many people say she made the wrong choice, but think about it like this: Ricky would make her a better singer, while Will would make her a more famous one. Will is not a good singer, but you have to admit he has a talent in song writing and getting on the top of the charts with the songs. That is is art and his craft. I'd say anyone that goes with Will knows/should know that they are going with him to be famous rather than better at singing.
It's incredible - watching these now, but yes! I notice William uses the same method as Adam (in the US); act like you don't want them on your team so they immediately want the one judge who "doesn't seem interested".

So many people say she made the wrong choice, but think about it like this: Ricky would make her a better singer, while Will would make her a more famous one. Will is not a good singer, but you have to admit he has a talent in song writing and getting on the top of the charts with the songs. That is is art and his craft. I'd say anyone that goes with Will knows/should know that they are going with him to be famous rather than better at singing.
