I’ve checked many spark arrestors and I only ever found one that was severely obstructed on a pro tree trimmers chain saw . It took some real scrubbing to get it clean . But I got it.

What's the purpose of the rubber plugs on the carb adjustment screws?

They put the caps on at the factory so the home owner doesn't mess with the settings. They set it to the factory. If you want it to run better, take the caps out and adjust it yourself. If you know how. If you don't take it somewhere or to someone who does.

Your spark plug is defective. The spark was going under the electrode. The spark should be going between the spark plug gap.

On what blower, look again the first blower had spark in between the gap

Its to rich if it's starting with no choke but not with the choke.

Burned up piston and scored cylinder because owner was running it on pure gas without oil. This machine is only good for parts.
