  • When Jeff Paulson, EAA 263515, brought this striking little biplane to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019, he found that almost nobody knew what it was. That’s not surprising, as it’s a one-off replica of a one-off design called the Westfall Special. The original was first flown in 1972, and Jeff’s replica, which was built by Brad Poling, EAA 112820, first flew in 2006. You can find the full story of this airplane in the May 2020 issue of EAA Sport Aviation.

There's something about a cabin biplane that appeals on a sub-verbal level. I am totally fascinated by them and I can't explain why--not even to myself. It's weird.

Just think what this little beauty would look and perform like with a radial engine, such as the Verner 9 cylinder.

If a Stinson 108 had sex with a Beech Staggerwing this is what the kids would like lol. Very nice!!

I have a couple short clips of this plane making some passes for an event in Washington from 2017. I should upload them some time.
