    1/6 Green Wood Craft.
Series celebrating the nation's craftsmanship and the recent renaissance in traditional crafts, presented by Monty Don. Three hopefuls who are passionate about learning green wood craft are put through their paces by the country's leading practitioners. The students quickly discover that the craft calls for precision, dexterity and patience. The trainees learn how to cleave the raw material; to turn blocks of wood on the pole lathe; and to manipulate the components fresh out of a steam bender.

The two men have the advantage of having worked with tools before. You can't underestimate this advantage. I

@mmaaaxxo I actually agree, and I am female. I refuse to believe that we are inferior at these crafts simply for being female. If strength is a factor then fair dues in some things. The lady on the blacksmiths episode struggled too, but produced a lovely piece of work in the end. Confidence and perseverance are definitely contributors

Sarah is simply thinking as a designer and not a craft worker. I used to have the same problem when I was at school, always trying to run before I can walk. Can't believe you guys all think it's because she's a girl. I'm a girl and I was always being asked to help the boys in wood work. It could have been anyone.

in some very real ways it is because she is a girl, think about it, in the western world men are much more likely to be involved from a young age in the types of activities that build abstract thinking and skills involving working with their hands such as working on bikes or cars, tinkering and taking things apart. you cannot overlook the fact that the years of fine motor control males tend to develop growing up in most cases are simply not encountered by most females, its not to say that a female given the same experiences would not do as well as the men, but realistically most females simply have less relevant or applicable experience in these sorts of disciplines.

Why the pressure? If you end up with a pile of firewood, you have still enjoyed yourself and learned from your mistakes.

hey all, This is a helpful video here. The most comprehensive woodworking projects that I have ever used was Toms Magic Wood (just google it). Without a doubt it contains the most incredible woodworking projects that I have ever tried.

As someone who makes and repairs wood furniture, they sure do a lot of complaining. It is really stupid, tiring and draining to hear, and makes them look dumb. Like if it isn't the right size, it isn't the right size. It's your fault. I don't think they enjoy it so much. It is hard work, but I think the joy is being able to make something. It leaves you in a really good place. It's nice to have some quiet and think about stuff.
