I love the fact that this person NEVER SOLD OUT not even after mr. Beast gave him input which basically would have changed his channel. I remember Sinbad’s video where he talked about the feedback with respect but eventually also respectfully chased his own way without becoming a thumbnail chaser. Much Respect! And much appreciation.
I still remember your videos from your LA apartment that you shot off your phone. You’ve come a long way brother and even though I am a little bit older than you and in a completely different stage in life, I still appreciate your content. Good luck for 2025 Respect from 🇦🇺
As someone who came from professional photography and then into YouTubing and lo-budget film making, I'll just add this for the benefit of anyone who isn't quite following the aperture f5.6 logic (Nikhil would know this already, he's just summarising for the sake of brevity): - Big budget film directors do occasionally go down to f2.0 or f1.4 or something but this is generally in sequences that are supposed to look somewhat "unreal". A good example of this is Dennis Villeneuve in the "memory" sequences of Arrival: She's remembering something but also dreaming it, and we don't know exactly how these scenes fit within the context of the film... we don't even know if they happened at all. So they are shot at a very shallow aperture (f1.4 or something) to give us a very soft focus. Often the problem with shooting so wide open is that a character's eyes can't stay in focus unless they stay dead still... but in those shots from Arrival, we only see blurry details anyway, so we don't need the character's eyes. - Sensor size affects the depth of field, which is why cellphones go to f1.8 or something but still don't give a good blurry background. (Small sensors = more things in focus.) Distance to subject affects it as well so f2.0 might be usable if you only need a person in focus but that person is only taking up 1/10th of the shot. So basically, if you only have a cellphone but you can control some of its settings (e.g. exposure), you can actually shoot something pretty good. 4 years ago I made a short film that Nikhil did some vocals for and half of it was shot on a cellphone with my 9 year old kid operating the gimbal. 95% of of that footage looks perfectly good... but a LOT of work was done with sound and I had perfect audio because I used a stealth mic IN the shot, which goes back to Nikhil's first point: good sound is everything. Another thing I'd say about getting cinematic shots on a budget is that everything you know about UA-cam lighting is completely reversed: - It very rarely looks cinematic to light someone's face fully from in front of them. Most good cinematic shots are more backlit than they are frontlit. I discovered this in Sweden recently, shooting a music video clip... it was after 10pm because of the super late sunset there (July), but even so, all the cheapest and nastiest looking shots we got were when the sun was behind ME, and right on the talent... but there are some mindblowingly beautiful shots where she is basically silhouetted against the sun. It's a bit of a simplistic hack but basically, if the shot isn't cinematic enough: get more light BEHIND the subject and less in front, assuming that this remains a realistic lighting scenario. Really looking forward to seeing the finished product man! It's been super inspiring to see you chase your dreams over the last 6 years.

Been watching you refer to this movie for so long! I know it means a lot to you. I am happy that you have finally completed it. Super excited to watch it tomorrow!!
Great stuff, your video hasnt popped up on my feed in a while, so good to see you back. Watching from Dublin, so looking forward to seeing your movie, best of luck.
the amazing part about river rats is simply that you brought the project to life, completed it, and become a better person throughout the process. that's what life is all about. congrats on the film brother
Really excited to see the first part of the movie -- it's been so inspiring to see this idea go from a "down the line" dream to a reality. Also really hyped to see where in Minneapolis you shot!
How I found this video? Well, I was just thinking about what this guy is doing and manually type your channels name. Then this video was completely unexpected, such an inspiration! Now I’m like, damn, how much money I have in my bank account to start my own movie! Thank you for that and can’t wait to see what you guys made!
Good luck Cap! I know making the movie has been an ambition for you for a long time and it's so cool to see it come to fruition. I only wish it wasnt released in parts, might have to wait tor all parts to come out and binge😆
Idk if you'll see this now, but you can use software to remove the background noise. Modern ai based stuff is really good now. I know davinci resolve has one built in. There's also RTX voice but that's for real time.
