      Agree. Gym-goer and actual bodybuilder who does competition are two different things. I dont do competitions but have a similar diet, and 4-5 days a week work out. Measuring food down to the gram just isn't something I find appealing. I put a meal on, eat it, have my protein shakes, call it a day. It's way more managable.

    As also a black gay dude, I relate to what that guy said about looking a certain way in LGBT commuinty so much. With so many guys looking like super models, you not only get put into a mindset that you have to look that way too, but that if you even want to have a chance of getting with someone who looks like that, your gonna have to too. I've gotten to a point were I do enjoy fitness in general, but Id be lying if I said that my initial motivation didn't stem from feeling like I had no chance of people looking at me if I didn't have a lean muscular body.

    As a gay black male myself at 2:35 hit a nerve because it's true to be black, not fit and/ or fem gets you super shunned in the gay community and its sad we have to go through certain things just to find companionship. there really needs to be a bigger conversation about this issue.

      Genuinely not trying to be a douche and just asking for some clarification, how is this not just an opinion? If most gay men don't like other gay men if they're not fit or fem what is a 'bigger conversation' going to do? It's personal preference.

    • @cltg5979
      @cltg5979 3 роки тому +39

      @@Smallz1014 I'm not just talking dating, I mean even friendships there is shunning. The one place where we should be able to go to for love and acceptance is our own community especially after dealing with discrimination like in high school instead of fem/fat shaming or anti blackness.

    • @usucktoo
      @usucktoo 3 роки тому +23

      Truth. There is a mould you have to fit in the gay community. If you're not it, it can feel very isolating. We can be so cruel towards each other. If somebody is deemed not hot enough and not sex material, they are easily judged and dismissed. It's like tinder in real life, just judge and swipe, even with realizations that these are real people with strengths and vulnerabilities and real stories, that can all be dismissed based on "hotness." And we are loud with our dismissals. We are proud of shaming and excluding the non hot ones. And I say WE because we are all guilty including myself. We are our own worst enemy really.
      The happiest I feel is when I'm not dating or looking. When I stop looking and uninstall the apps and stop going to the gay hotspost, I actually can build myself up and can see what I deserve. Everytime I go back to the dating scene, a big part of my self esteem and worth breaks off.
      And it's not just an opinion. Compared to the general population, and especially compared to straight men, gay men have a way higher chance to be clinically depressed and to commit suicide. It feels like we are all just miserable and dragging each other down. We have to change and be happier people and actually do justice to the word gay.

    As a bodybuilder myself (for the past 6-7 years), they downplay the role of steroids a lot. Yes, it still requires a clean diet and hard work, but the amount of muscle mass you are able to put on while under a steroid cycle is MASSIVE compared to what you would put on naturally, especially since people tend to take steroid after a few years, and so after a good portion of your natural capacity has been showed.
    But I appreciate a lot that they are honest about their usage, too many people lie about it and give unrealistic expectations to beginners.

    As a dietitian, i have yet to understand why bodybuilders just stick with the rice/chicken/broccoli or aspragus combo. like there are so many other yummy ways to get your carb/protein/veggies in a meal. i dunno, i would get so bored of eating that every day 😅

      Is it because those are the general cheapest things you can buy? I can get 2 pounds of chicken (I think thighs with bone) for under $25 but 1.5ish pounds of New Zealand import lamb is around $50 at my Whole Foods. I get more broccoli and aspragus but less cauliflower, kale, ect with the same budget. From watching bodybuilder documentaries I know that bodybuilding competitive is a massive money sink as well.

    Easy option for healthy eating during the day, vegan natural meal replacement shakes. Pros - macros are measured out, zero prep, no waste or going out of date, minimal effort. Fruit for snacks and a healthy tea. Would still come out cheaper than all of these bodybuilders. I hit 140g protein per day too...

      @@unuks9731 not really if you have an intelligent and thought thru plan. The are hormones. Extra levels of hormones and man made hormones that replicate the effects our own hormones give us. Our body isn’t meant to have this much but with proper education and doctors you can have a steroid cycle that isn’t more or less not bad at all. Ofc putting on an absurd amount of muscle overall isn’t very healthy. Everyone has a weight limit that once is reached whether it be by fat or muscle will begin to be too much for your heart to supply. Steroids help you to build more muscle than you could normally put on and maintain it. That is the number 1 issue from steroids.

    I tried many different things in my life including measuring every single gram on the scale and minus heavy weightlifting just counting macros, eating 1800 plus calories, eating 1200 cal, etc. The biggest problem with this lifestyle is that you can get SO sick of chicken breast, measuring, meal prepping, you can get health obsessed and body dysmorphia or even an eating disorder. The idea of a cheat meal or cheat day was always a disaster for me as it was leading to binge eating an entire pizza, chocolate, 2 glasses of wine, etc.
    Now I still look amazing with abs and muscles but I follow my nutritionst that says protein shakes, protein from meat the size of my palm, carbs in the morning or after the workout the size
    Of my fist and if I want pizza or something sweet, I will have it but it will be around 100 cal, instead of forbidding every single thing. When I was measuring my food I used to crave all the time pizza, burgers, fries, any sweet decadent desert. Now funny enough I am
    Not craving anything because everything is allowed if I want it!

      honestly i found out for myself that completly clean eating is something i cant achieve, however i just decided to allow myself sometimes eating shit and just trying to go for a bit healthier alternative. I mean if i crave for something ill either deny which is bad long term or ill just choose the 100cal option instead of the 200 one
