great job man. i've never seen that rolling of the shoulders done anywhere, but imagining these movements under grown tissue really fits great. glowing of the eyes looks really good, both warm and cold at thesame time, awesome job.
The terminator is an infiltration unit part man part machine. Underneath its a hyperalloy combat chassis microprocessor controlled. Fully armored very tough.
Edmund Loh a T-800 is only considered a cybernetic organism when it has it’s flesh covering.... if it’s just the combat chassis itself (the skeleton), then it no longer has any organism characteristics; making it technically a “robot”, not a cyborg.
I love robot designs that look "functional" like this, with visibly working hinges and pistons and whatnot. Thanks for uploading this! Really gives me an opportunity to study and appreciate the design of one of my favorite robots. I like how you made its toes wiggle too :P
What I'd like to know is would the design of the endoskeleton actually work? Would the design that James Cameron built have the range of motion and the ability to move and walk like it is shown? Or did he just slap a bunch of random stuff together that looked cool?
Long time admirer and fan of this design, here. The endoskeleton actually would theoretically "work" in that it has all the articulating joints needed to move mostly like a human skeleton. The prop's designers (the chief of whom was Stan Winston) put an incredible amount of thought and work into the T800. The most detailed, faithful, and full scale replica built of it is all metal and has complete articulating joints and pistons, and while it reveals that there are limits to the flexion of certain joints, but if it had actual powered actuators and a computer controller that could command and balance it, it could walk and move in a humanoid manner. It would, however, need grippy feet as the smooth metal would slip easily on a hard surface. The animator here did a fantastic job visualizing some of the accurate actuation -- the clip with the shoulders moving is outstanding as you watch the joints and actuators move accurately.
Fantastic work. I always wondered how the t-800 actually moved. Where are the pneumatics? Where are the little motors that pull the wires or rods that would contract the artificial muscles and propel movement...
Pneumatics are powered by compressed air, used for lighter forces when a quick clean action is required. Hydraulics would be used by one of these beasts probably, if not maybe even some kind of electromagnetic actuator which gives higher precision for articulation. Just food for thought based on my experience . . . but not with T-800's, but with pneumatics and hydraulics. LOL
For the animation of the T-800 clenching it's hand into a fist, I don't see many scenes of the machine(s) landing a punch on someone. Probably, because the impact would outright kill a person. (Actually, Arny's right arm went through a punk in the first movie. It was an over-powered gut punch.)
Also im not really sure why, but Terminator is so freaking scary with those white human teeth. Its funny because on paper, it sounds like a stupid idea, Terminator with teeth?. But man oh man does it make it look menacing.
If they covered the T-800 in flesh and they just gave the terminator metal teeth instead of white human teeth, it'll just look like a guy with a "grill" lol.
For me, the teeth make the Terminator look scary and even a little funny at the same time. With their smiling teeth, it's like they're trolling humans as they try to kill us. "Beep beep....We are...lolol..Terminators and we are trying to kill you humans.....Trolololol!" Still they are pretty scary all the same.
This is the best terminator model I've ever seen. It surpasses with ease even the movie models. The model, texture, rigging, all done amazingly accurate. This is just wow.
Wow, fantastic! Now you just need to find the right 3d printer and cybernetic software and it is yours. All my admiration to the time, knowledge and work you've had to put into this 👍👍👍👍
Mr. TheRetardedEnder 197 Do they? I've seen them gradually light up but i don't think i've ever seen a T-800 with irises... good animation still though :)
That thing actually looks pretty vulnerable to the gun shots. You hit one of them steel hoses or little pistons and he's going to have his arm or leg disabled in no time.
As a huge terminator fan, I'd just like to say that.... The ANIMATION work is fantastic. The *sounds* could use touching up. A terminator is indeed a large and heavy machine, BUT... The T-800 is an assassination / combat model. The *hydraulics* and motors are very quiet. Listen to the sounds made when the terminator is switched off, in terminator 2, with his CPU out of his head! You *hear* his arm!

This is very very good. Instant favorite here. Now if only someone could actually use the Terminator brand to make a proper game. The T-800 is the best looking terminator in my opinion.
Nah T 1000 is sick
T-600 is the best, its rubber skin makes it look so menacing and creepy.

@@OhioGuy216 Yeah T600 and T800 are the coolest ones to me

It imitates human's actual anatomy so yeah the design might actually works
