When Em was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame he spent his entire acceptance speech paying homage to all the rappers who came before him & those he admires. He stood & read name after name of all those who made Em into Em. Dopest acceptance speech ever.

Eminem has and still does face more racism in this genre of music than anyone I’ve ever seen. There are literally people that say he isn’t one of the greats only bc he’s not black. However, most of the OG and top lyricist rappers like Rakim, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, Kendrick, etc say that he is one of the greatest lyricists ever. Battle rap is how Eminem was discovered by Dr Dre.

Tupacs mom gave Eminem his rhyme sheet and plaque and permission to use and remix 2 of Tupacs beats to diss Ja Rule (Hail Mary remix) and Everlast(hit ‘em up remix). He also signed 50 Cent and they are best friends to this day. He also shouts out Dr Dre in nearly every song bc when Dr Dre signed him he feels it saved his life bc he was homeless and living in poverty and violence. And yes Eminem is probably one of the most controversial rappers there ever was bc he uses it not only for shock value but to express feelings and its art! It’s also a big F**k you to the government who tried for 20 years to cancel him but his fanbase is too massive. He literally made the word “Stan” get put into the dictionary after releasing his song “Stan” about a crazy, obsessed fan so Eminem’s crazy fans are called “Stans”

But I hate the "best"-obsession anyways... I'd rather enjoy 10 good artists than waste my time thinking about who is "the one". I do not intend to limit myself to only listening to one artist, so it is the most pointless thing one could waste their time with. imho.

The movie 8 mile is based on Ems life, Em wrote all the raps in the movie. Battle rap has veen around since the 80s but it wasn't anything close to what it is now. When 8 mile came out it put a spotlight on Battle Rap and it gained a lot of acceptance and more and more people who could bar out but couldn't make songs got a real opportunity to express themselves and battle rape became more main stream than it was and battle rap leagues formed like KOTD and URL. Alot of the extras in 8 mile were Detroit rappers and artists and the guys Em battled in the movie were Detroit battle rappers. Stay blessed, i recommend watching 8 mile and you'll understand Ems story right up until the point before ue met Dr Dre

Yeah Eminem is ALWAYS shouting out rappers that he looks up to. Almost to the point that the more I hear this song, the more I think that it's less him calling himself "THE Rap God" and more hine paying homage to those the rappers that came before him that he respects. you should listen to Calm Down its Busta Rhymes Ft. Eminem, I believe it came out in 2014. The interview Busta gave about it was also pretty funny, talked about how he and Em were essentially going back and forth on the track and then agreed to make it long enough for radio play. Pretty good song too highly recommended it!
