    It was a great idea to use the earring back. Has anyone else had trouble with pins that are too large a diameter to go into the fine tip metal glue bottle tip?

    Ahhh - this gal from Canada thanks you Tracie !!! I wanted to make a dangle for my glue top but did not want to fiddle with all the teeny tiny little bits .. your use of the earring butterfly back in this vid gave me the thought to actually use an old dangly earring I already own ! Could not be easier and so pretty, so thank you so much for the inspiration !!!!

      ... I should add that I used the stainless steel pin for the glue as usual and just attached my earring by slipping it on the SS pin and slid the back up the pin to hold it on - perfect and sooooo easy !

    Fantastic idea!!! Thanks for the share. I've gone through that many pins because I've misplaced them or they've gone rusty. Also I've used I small bit of acetone to clean up the metal tip. (which can be gently pulled of with pliers away from bottle) Its magic stuff acetone! 💜☺
    Oh! I've also noticed keeping glue bottle topped up when you've done for the day, seems to keep the rusting away that bit longer. 😀

    This is so wonderful and brilliant. I did find stainless steel pins but they are short like came on my tiny bottles.
    I have replaced all of my butterfly shaped ear ring backs in my jewelry to the disc shaped ones.
    I also only craft with the plastic ear ring backs when the pin tips of hat pins wont fit on a smaller pin. I, like you said, to keep it out of my fingers.
    I think I may have a tiny package of real tiny sterling silver ones, now I think about it. It wont tarnish but will not take up too much of the pin.
    I suppose a wire would work on the top of those short pins.
    After all of that, this is brilliant and will work best in my longer pins.
    I wonder... would a non stainless steel sealed with a spray, stick to glue. I'll let you know.

    How long is the area that needs to be there with the pin, to prevent the clog?
    You seem to have multiple bottles, so I wonder if you could shorten your pins to see how long your pin must be at a minimum. This will also remove the pin tip in your finger.

    • @TracieFoxCreative
      @TracieFoxCreative  5 років тому

      On some of the bottles, the nib is quite long. The pins I use are not too long they seem to be fine :-d TFW xx

  • @lovingmyselfwell4569
    @lovingmyselfwell4569 5 років тому

    Super sweetly BEEPbeepBEEPly! I've a few varying sizes of bottles for different glues & intend on making several.
    With my 1st bottle set of two Glitter Glue {one small befitting an easier grasp the other for refills} +stainless steel cone shaped tip +pin w/plastic ball tip the pin STUCK pulling away from, entirely OFF the pin altogether, leaving behind a welded, rusting, useless 'improved' bottle set!
    I've wanted to make these charming toppers ever since first seeing them maybe a year or more ago!
    But why does the stainless steel pin rust, discolouring the glue?
    Many times we cannot have anything but white or clear adhesives in our designs so the rusting is really something to watch for... & switching out pins I guess is the favoured solution to-date.
    Thanks for your clever fix!

      Hi Tracie!! thanks for the reply - I tend to use a lot of beacon 3 in 1 hence my question!! I suspect it might depend on the bottle. 3 in 1 is quite gloopy, thicker than the average white PVC glue I think. I've got a dangle which I LOVE, but it doesn't work well in the beacon bottle. I'm reluctant to stomp up for the metal tipped bottles if I'm not going to use them! Will be keen to know your experience - thanks!!
