Incredible fix once again! I feel like every time I start a Toy Polloi video I think to myself "How the heck is he gonna fix that?" and you never cease to amaze me. Keep up the great work!
I usually have a good idea of how you'll go about repairing a toy and more often than not i'll get it right. With this 1 however i was 100% stumped, you totally outsmarted me here Dave. There are plenty of figures with these types of joints so definitely a fix to remember.
It's like a hip replacement operation. I have done hundreds but not with toys .and my operations are usually done in big international hospitals and not this small time stuff . But toy polloi we love you yeah yeah yeah
Really random, but I'm so glad I found this channel when I did (which was last night), because I had a really stressful day and his restoration playlist is just. So soothing, great for de-stressing. And satisfying, as well. And informative! Seeing his clever fixes helps me "think sideways," as he said in one video, for my own action figure fixes. I don't have a lot of vintage stuff, but just the methodology and care he takes is so applicable to any toys and any fixes, in my opinion.
Thanks for watching. UA-cam seem to go out of their way not to promote proper restorations channels preferring the fake ones. So getting found is a task in itself. Glad you found me.
Absolutely fantastic fix. I have a few Vaders and one Chewbacca that all need this exact repair. I’ve relegated gluing the legs back on on Vader and a C3PO in the past. ☹️☹️☹️ I really appreciate the knowledge that you share. Thanks and Cheers from Texas.
Fantastic fix, at least when the grommets perish you can just swap them out. The grommets are very similar to what you find on the bottom of money boxes
Dave...🤯 I have a 14" Batman statue (with movable limbs), one of his arms broke just like this in a household move. This fix is absolutely what he needs! Thank you😁
Nice one. Salute. Cool to see you thought it out , got the measurement, and implemented. These kinds of moments are so gratifying. Thanks for sharing and making the video.
This is brilliant! I've had many a doll with vinyl limbs do the same thing as poor Chewie here- The vinyl just stiffens up, loses it's flex, and tears off. I bet it'd work just as well with them! I'll definitely give this a go!
Wow. Never seen that sort of damage before. It almost looks as if the hard plastic of the torso has, over years of leg movement, cut into the joint, and basically sawn through it. (I think the body is something like styrene, and the limbs are hollow cast blown polyethylene) I have one, and tomorrow, I'm going to lubricate the joints with a drop of WD40. A great fix - as long as the plastic of the grommet does not, over time, react with the plastic of the body.
Brilliant repair! The only thing with those large Chewies (I had one as a kid) is they always reminded me of hollow chocolate Easter or Christmas figures!
You should've left the center of the grommet in place, it would have provided extra stabilty and support. Just nip away at the edges of the grommet that goes on the inside of the hip.
A quick maintenance tip for toys with plastic-on-plastic joints. Get some wax based "zipper lubricant" and spread a little in the joint. This will reduce the amount of wear on the plastic parts and they will last a lot longer and won't damage the plastic.
[Luke skywalker slices Darth Vader's leg cean off] Darth Vader: "Right! I'll do you for that!" Luke: "What are you gonna do? Bleed on me?" Vader: "I'm invincible!"
For the really damaged leg (or maybe one even more chipped,) you may be able to glue it in place with some epoxy, then leave the body side flexible & removable to squeeze in. Could be useful for someone who wants to make use of the added posability, but as you say, just fitting them in is perfectly good for display. With the grommet-ed legs removable, one could add a slot to his head or mouth, and make hollow Chewbacca into a coin bank.
Never in the long, storied history of the galaxy has a man remained in such prolonged contact with a Wookiee’s crotch! Also a repair job lacking sacrificial Lego is a bunce!
All of these 12 inch Star Wars have something that goes wrong with them. I always see Boba Fett with his Right hand missing/snapped off. Also, am I the only one that thinks Chewy looks like an Easter candy?
The idea that such a sophisticated being as Chewbacca would have, in the evolutionary sense, retained primate physical features is patently absurd! Whichever individuals involved in the character’s creation should be flogged for their stupidity. For this..., I hate the character and the entire Star Wars franchise, with a burning passion! Thank you for reading my CORRECT AND JUSTIFIED(!) observations. And.., to bloody hell with anyone who disagrees with Me!

This is an absolutely inspired solution.
I wouldn't even call this a fix, it's an improvement over the original design.

I absolutely loves how he say Chewbacca! Absolutely genius using those Grommets

Impressive, I never thought of this as a fix. Better than the original design.

This is incredible! Another classic toy saved. Idea for a future video, use this method on a Dewback and Tanntann limb repair.
Genius. Another ‘outside the box’ solution 👍🏼

Once again another creative repair! Thank you as always!
Gotta say I love to see you struggle for once, as you make everything look so easy. 🙂

Another great fix! I really enjoy watching you videos, they give me ideas to try on my own, keep up the good work my friend!

DIY bandolier next? 😁
Could be. I'd love to have an original so I can actually see what it's supposed to look like. One day I will actually track one down.
wow.., what a fix..I think you have Out did your self. I really enjoyed the video..Keep up the good work!

You're simply a genius!
Great video!!! Very useful, and thank you for the shut out.
Brilliant repair! The only thing with those large Chewies (I had one as a kid) is they always reminded me of hollow chocolate Easter or Christmas figures!
Great fix as usual!
This of course will work with fixing the Bionic Bigfoot naturally, great video!
It will. They are pretty much the same figure.
Great job ( as always), your repair ideas are ingenious.
Brilliant .Your a very clever bloke.
Ok that is cool! Great job on these Dave!😁👍
Definition of a toy doctor!
Looks good. Actually both of them look good! Nice job and great fix!
I look forward to your toy repair videos
Brilliant solution Dave - thats 2 lucky wookies :)
Great job Dave! 👍🏻
Impressive, Most Impressive.
Bit of washing up liquid on the grommets might help slip it into place easier?

Ace work Dave
That’s pretty awesome I might have to start looking for those figures
Brilliant fix as always!
Brilliant as always.
That's a cool fix!
You are a genius!
Nice! I wonder if it’ll work for newer figures? 🤔
Chewies expression looks like he hasn’t quite gotten over the loss of his legs.
The two Chewbacca’s at the end look like they’re holding hands and saying “Come and play with us, Danny....”
And the 2 Chewies even look happier after being repaired.
Awesome 👍🏾👍🏾
Chewbacca's hands look like Grand Theft Auto Vice City hands🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂
Have you ever thought about making replacement bandoliers those are often missing on Chewbacca.
I would like to, but I need to find an original first so I can see how it was made and the size of it. As yet I have not found one.
Grab the hydro spanners Chewie👍
my dad bought me that same chewbacca in Italy...huge, huge thing to have when you are a kid in 80's communist yugoslavia
Very cool
"That's a lot of damage" - Phil Swift.
Pretty cleaver way to save an otherwise unusable action figure.
Brilliant
I watched your video on how to de-yellow Star Wars figures do you have a video for de-yellowing vehicles?
I cover that I many if my Star wars vehicle restoration videos.
You are AMAZING!!!
Cool - I just inherited a busted Vader...
[Luke skywalker slices Darth Vader's leg cean off]
Darth Vader: "Right! I'll do you for that!"
Luke: "What are you gonna do? Bleed on me?"
Vader: "I'm invincible!"
You could make one of them into Chewie's Snoova bounty hunter disguise from Shadows of the Empire. Just a thought, really.
12" Chewie looks like Tyrone Biggums after a hit on the rock.
Chewy is yelling in pain.
BROKEN VADER......NOOOO! Retroblasters will be looking for you!
Now they just need bandoleirs
Broken Vader is shaking in his boots. Lol!
Was that a cameo from Broken Vader?

Its Broken Vader. :)
well, let's spend 20 minutes watching a repair video for a toy i don't own....
Lol 💩💩💩👍🏻
Don't let Broken Vader see this video
His problem is the arms, not the legs

The problem is that those Chewbacca toys they look like they're made out of cheap plastic
