Thanks Matt! 👍 Rebuild definitely winning! That headset I saw on Adam Savage, it's really good price on Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/Illuminated-Magnifier-Detachable-Lenses-Headset-Magnifying/dp/B01M2442NR?ref_=ast_sto_dp
Great job, Dave, restoring this classic JackHammer Cliff Dagger M.A.S.K. box to a respectable form. Very nicely done and cool music to the detailed video. Thanks! EDIT: Yes, that would be cool to see the Jackhammer reassembled to fine tune the snap back features.
Your a cardboard magician!! Can’t believe it’s the same box! I’ve used the iron trick, but not the moisture with it. There’s a new Indiana Jones box to the collection that could use some love. I will try that out. Loved the music choices too Dave. Thanks!
Thanks Pete! 🙏 When you tackle the Indy box, don't apply heat directly to the print side - it can cause damage to the image or dull it. Had fun with the music on this one, and thankfully no copyright issues 🤣
Thanks Tez !! 🙏 I have thought about doing a restoration live stream - basically just keep the camera rolling during a Sat or Sun 👍 The crystal ball predicts a Jackhammer rebuild 🤘
Absolutely stunning, Dave! This video is so superbly done in so many different facets and areas that it would just take me far too long to mention all of them. But suffice it to say, I don't really have a huge interest in vintage toys, I don't know anything about MASK and didn't realize it existed until recently, and I just spent close to 20 minutes watching someone restore cardboard. And I was hooked and loved it! And by the way, you have more patience than any adult man I have ever met in my life! So excellently done, so perfectly filmed, so superbly edited. and engrossingly entertaining. Great work, Dave. And I definitely would watch you restore that plastic truck as well!
Thanks Paul!! You're always so kind in your comments 👍 But I am now laughing at the thought of you spending 20 mins watching someone restore cardboard 🤣 But seriously, I do love creating the restoration videos, and so far, there's a landslide victory for #rebuildit so there's definitely a Jackhammer rebuild in the future. Thanks for watching. It's these comments that spur me on! 🤘
Ah yes, I did watch those. There's always something to learn 👍 I'm a patron of RMC, I think his channel is fantastic, and am hoping to visit his cave at some point.
Thanks Kieron! 🙏 That's a great tip! For some of the Star Wars boxes on display I have previously purchased repro inners to keep the shape. I'm hoping the guy who creates those new Mask boxes will create an inner for Jackhammer at some point 👍
Yet another masterpiece of a video Dave, wonderful to watch your skills in action! What a transformation! 👍 I'm also a fan of your deep dive play on 'Release the Kraken' 🤣👌 Team #RebuildIt obviously 😁
Thanks Christian!! Ah, glad you appreciate the Kraken, I guess you noticed he appeared whenever I said 'lets crack on' 🤣 I think I'm too subtle in my videos and most people miss half of it - gotta be explicit and spell it out in YT land 😀 Team #rebuildit is crushing it, so I think that's gonna happen 🤘
What!…wait WHAT!!!? Dave you really are a genius!!! Your videos are just exceptional and your restoration skills just blow mind!! How do you restore a box to that level!!!! This video is gonna serve me well In the coming weeks! Dave you should have thousands and thousands of subs, you are quite inspirational my friend! 👊 #rebuildit
Ah!! stop it Luke! LOL But thank you anyway 🙏 Really appreciate your support my friend. Good luck with your restorations, you know I'm always happy to help etc 👍 We should all be on thousands and thousands of subs, just need UA-cam to push us all a little more 🤘
Wow!!! Top job Dave. Another fantastic resto. I've just bought a beat up Stormtrooper, all scuffed up just so I can get the lighter fluid and cotton buds out!🤣🤣 Keep up the fantastic work matey.👍oh and......#Rebuildit. 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Deke! 🙏 Good luck with your Stormtrooper restoration! 👍 There will be more resto vids coming and it looks like a strip down and rebuild of the Jackhammer is one of them 🤘 Cheers for watching and commenting!! 🔥
Thanks for visiting and noticing the music choices too. That's something I do try to put some time into. Can I ask when did Toy Polloi send you over, I know he's given me a shout-out a few times in the past - I'm a huge fan of Dave. Good luck with your boxes and I hope you enjoy your time here 👍
@@VintageToyRush I watch a lot of Toy Polloi and he has mentioned you a few times. He calls you VTR Dave so naturally I had to check out his recommendations. Ive also watched your episode on LVTS a couple times so I just remembered to check our channel out today.
You must have so much patience to fix that box our David! Can you imagine me trying to do that? It would take bloody years! 🤣🤣 What a great job you did on that MASK box! Yes! I would definitely watch you strip down and restore that Jack Hammer! Great video my friend. (P.S. I actually watched this days ago but forgot to comment! So that's 2 views from Shabby! 🤣🤣) #rebuild
Shabby, I really really want to see you do a restoration video!! 🤣 The good news is that there will definitely be a Jackhammer strip and build video 👍 And you know what, I keep forgetting stuff all the time, something to do with age 🤣 Cheers!!
Great to see I’m not the only one ironing 😜. I’ve tried it a few times on some stubborn Nintendo cardboard (mainly gameboy boxes) and it’s a life saver. I’ll have to try the parchment paper as I’ve been using a tea-towel. The box looks superb Dave. I wish I had your accuracy and patience when it comes to glueing. All the best 👍
Thanks Ed! 🙏 And they say men don't iron! 🤣 Yeah try the parchment paper, just easier than the good old tea towel. Actually, just thought - do they have tea towels in the US? Have you seen RMC's latest videos on game box restoration, some good hints and tips there 🤘
Hey VTR. I got introduced to your channel through Toy Pollie and decided to subscribe. You make some really great videos. I'm definitely enjoying them. Thanks for making them
Awesome video Dave! Great restoration skills! I have some vintage Star Wars boxes that could use some restoring. I don’t think I have the patience to do it though lol Great stuff
Hey SoCal! Thanks for watching! 🙏 Yeah, it's all about patience when it comes to the boxes, I don't think any of it is too difficult, except making sure not to go too far. It's easy for boxes to look like they've been messed with 🤘
Brilliant! I picked up several similar tools at a carboot (flea market) for hardly any money. Thought they would make great restoration tools but never knew they were dental tools 🤣
I used to always remove price tags when I first started collecting. But now, I see them as part of their history, so unless it looks ugly or half torn, I'll leave them on there. I think this one was from Toys R Us! 👍 Looking like a Jackhammer rebuild is on the cards 🤘
Helloo😊 Do you suggest cleaning the surface of the box with furniture polisher, and can i use acrylic colours to fill out the spots where color is damaged?
Hi 👋 Furniture polish may be used, as long as the box has a glossy feel to it. Try it on a small area first and carefully wipe. It is possible to use acrylic but I've always been rubbish at getting a colour match. Even black is not just black 😎
@@VintageToyRush I know some mask stuff can be tricky with springs and internals exploding out as you open stuff up and then having to figure out where it all went in lol. There are references out there though so we can learn from others mistakes and not our own lol
And now for the price tags, just soak them in gasoline by dabbing them with a cloth. When soaked, just peel them of slowly. The gasoline dissolves old tape residu much quicker then lighter fluid, and leaves no marks.
Learned a lot with this. do you know if its safe to use buffing compound to shine/polish/restore MOC figure bubbles that have gone dull from lite scraches from storage or rubbing up against cardboard over the years?
Hey Bobby! 👍 Interesting question! I have wondered how best to restore scratched bubbles but have yet to experiment. I think a buffing compound is a reasonable technique - I would definitely try on a test bubble first, and rub gently as you don't want to introduce new dents, it's surprising how course some of those compounds can be. I might have to experiment - could make a good video too 🤘
@@VintageToyRush would make a good video for sure! i considered this type of box repair, but always figured it would lead to water stain marks. glad to see it work
Strip it Dave. Awesome video and love that head gear.
