Concord wasn’t bad because the characters looked “ugly” it was bad because it’s just another basic game in an oversaturated market with nothing to set it apart from the others. It started development in 2016 (the time overwatch came out) and was very clearly hopping on the hero shooter trend at the time and missed it by nearly a decade. I don't get what happened with the comments, did one of Reddit's many woke subs found this video? There's so many similar videos talking about this trend and they got far more likes with top comments agreeing.
I’m pretty sure it’s due to the algorithm. The dude used alloys face on the thumbnail, and since horizon is getting talked about again recently, UA-cam pushed this video to the front page. But I will say, it’s only thanks to the algorithm that those other videos has likes and people agreeing, because the algorithm tries to show you stuff you wanna see, so it’s actually REALLY easy to make your own personal echo chamber and surround yourself with yes men and people who agree with you.
Do you just faint at the sight of a video game character who doesn't fit the label of conventionally attractive? There isn't an overemphasis on diversity, theres a social shift in video game demographics because video games were always marketed towards male audiences and developers didn't have to put in the effort into character design, but now that there's evidently a larger pool of people from different backgrounds who enjoy playing video games. Men don't realize that they've been pandered to for literal decades with the kinds of characters that fit their own demographic or what they would find attractive, now that it's not exclusively for men, you feel like developers are "pandering" these other people who have interests in video games. Bad visual design is a problem today but it's not because a character isn't a fit, attractive white person. You should've made two separate videos, one about bad visual design and the another about this other nonsense
I understand quite a few games have been making characters hyperrealistic and therefore seeming ugly but sometimes I get tired of the sexy woman in every video game. You had a great point with the heavy being good character design of someone overweight and I agree but I’d like to see good character design of an overweight woman, or other body types than awooga.
I don't see how you're calling this stuff "uglification". The main starting point that you tried to make with Aloy was a total bust considering her face being fat wasn't even true as they look normal? When I say normal I don't mean realistic to real life, I mean the face looks normal even for a video game that would have pretty characters, and the point you were trying to make about people not wanting to play "ugly" characters doesn't really make sense either as I find unique looking characters charming. I also find the idea of not adding an "ugly" character to be pretty stupid cause if all the characters were stereotypically pretty the game would look bland.
You've got the confidence and awful takes to go far. I clicked on this video with an open mind as like most people, I think concord was a clown show. But I managed to get about a minute in before having to stop from the cringe.
