"all i want is a room somewhere, far away from the cold night air, with one enormous chair, oh wouldn't that be lovely" my fair lady..... love your cosy home bless you 10/12/2022
Hi Richard, liked the brown leather sofa, would fit a treat in your "library" . I have a feeling you may be inundated with Free sofas now from your lovely subscribers......theyre a generous lot 😉
I'd splurge on a decent recliner , I have fond memories of sitting in my grandfather's recliner when I was a kid. Worthing seems like a very underrated city, I'm always interested in seeing more when you venture out on these local excursions. I enjoy the little motherly moments Julia has with Joe. Thanks for the video Richard, really enjoyed it.
Good morning Richard! In Austria we dont have such shops. Unfortunately, because sometimes it is good to have furniture for " every day", we said here. When visitors or little children come, it musst not be brandnew. Julia is a very good mother, I can see it, how she looks at her son, so much love in her eyes. Jo is a wonderful boy!!!! I have seen the Videos with your son stanley and your doughter. They are very friendley and a good mixture of her parents ( I have seen the weddingphoto in an Otter video). You musst, you can be very proud of them, as a father and the human they are. I hope you know and understand what I mean. The weather is wonderful in your area. In Austria it will snow this week. All best wishes for you and your family and friends from Austria..... .
Enjoyed This Richard! Hope You're Very Pleased With The One You Choose. Lovely Seeing You, Julia & Little Jo Enjoying The Swans, Ducks & Sunshine - Together With A Picnic In Your Van. 😊
From a practical point of view I would choose something that you can clean up after any spillages. My youngest is very good at spilling drinks all over the place. 🙄 The leather one would be great as you can put a blanket over it for extra warmth and it's fairly easy to clean. Xx
Thank you Richard for taking me out with you to the furniture shop. I do like those kind of shops. A couple of the UA-cam people I follow sometimes wave at the camera. I wave back. When Julia waved at your camera I instantly waved back. An instant reaction on my part. "Hello Julia" wave from me. I am a book collector with bookshelves lining the walls of my house.
I really enjoy your ‘at home’ vlogs, so natural. Yes, sofas are a problem. Our leather 3 piece suite is 36 years old and we are about to get it refurbished, as the new ones often don’t seem to be very well made. I can understand your dilemma. Good luck with your sofa search. Do let us know what happens. 👍🏻
Good video Richard, a nice selection of sofas too, I have my two sofas we got from a charity shop, they do good deals on them. Nice seeing the ducks on thst lovely lake.
The Heart Foundation is a great shop for furniture. Most of ours has come from there: Chesterfields, the main dining table, my 1960s stereogram. I'm considering their sewing machines next. Ron, Owen and Hanna are great too.
What a lovely video, seeing little Joe running around. My grandson is 10 months old now and it's good to see what he will be like in a few months time. Please don't stop what you do Richard, it's great.
Maybe it's already covered. Try a recliner, you'll never look back! btw many recliners are designed for being against a wall! So when they recline they extend forwards not back.
Only watched the first half over breakfast as I’m working today so plan to watch the other half (probably will watch the first half again too 😊) in my lunch break. Thank you for the mention Richard & thrilled you’re making use of the bookcase. Feel honoured in fact that you have moved it to your ‘best’ room 😊(people don’t use that term anymore do they but it was common when we were little?!). As many have also said, I think the leather one is a good choice for spills but pick the one which feels most comfortable for you x
"I'm not saying you're not wrong", that was a mind twister. A double negative is difficult enough, but a triple negative.... Took me a minute to decipher that. "Awful weather", that must've been my ideal weather. Again, the theme music you choose is perfect and gives the right mood. Carry on!
I think the dark leather sofa would look amazing in your home, but I think they can be a bit cold and slippery 😅 I also agree with Julia about the velvety light sofa, looks comfy and warm! You have a lovely house, so characterful and homely . I’m a sucker for old period houses as we also live in one . Loved this video and little Joe, what a cutie 🥰
That was an interesting journey ... From where l am sitting and this is from someone who does not like dark furniture or leather ones .... l think the brown leather sofa would look good in your room 😯
Another nice video, thank you. I have made a donation towards your sofa; not much but every little helps. Good luck in your search Richard and have a nice day
I like the look of the leather one. However, I have a leather sofa (left in the house when I moved in) and I don't like it. It's cold to sit on in the winter and my cushions and throws slip all over the place. Only advantage really is that you can easily wipe away any spills.
I'm intrigued by the conker hanging on the front room wall! Is it a champion? I rather like the leather sofa - very you and practical especially with a cosy blanket slung over for when the log burner isn't alight. Sorry to say that it might be a bit of an age thing lying down to read and nodding off .Nothing wrong with that. Do it all the time!
I am not saying that you’re not wrong… I am too tired 🥱 after getting the bed set up so I am not going to wok out what you are telling the coffee commenters.. I have made many cups of coffee in a percolator between 1986 to 2001 for my B&B guests but I can tell you that I have never had so much as a sip. Even the caffeine in a cup of tea would keep me awake all night. You must be one of those who can tolerate caffeine 🤔🤞🤞🤞🌟☘️🍀☘️🌟👍👍👍🌟🖖🖖🖖🙋🏼♀️enjoy your ☕️💖
Yes...you need a sofa...always good to have somewhere comfy to relax, stretch out, read and then snooze!! People seem to like the leather one...i'd say get one you feel comfy with ( though i do think the leather one was to your liking...? Yes...under the spitfire pic best place for it too i think...x Anyway...i donated...i said i would a while ago...so put it towards your 'sofa fund' if you wish...if all your regular subs donated just a pound...i'm sure we'll be able to get you that leather sofa 😃 x
Not sofa-related per se, but I enjoy looking at your book titles, so many of which mirror those in my own library! Particularly the H.E. Bates and the Battle of Britain stuff.
Sofa? In canader, if it only has 2 cushions, that's considered a " love seat". A sofa, or chesterfield, has 3 cushions, in whereas you can actually stretch out.
Everyone likes the leather one but I don't. Cold in the winter, sticky in the summer and if you put cushions on they slide about all over the place. No, my choice would be that goldy looking one with the comfy plush cover. And I like these sort of videos. A glimpse into a life I understand. Ps I have Lucky Jim too
@@maggiesamuels2937 yes, I had a best friend's in High School that lived in an older style house; & like Richard's it had no AC. Hello from BC Canada. Just found you on a scan through UTUBE. Even though you are looking for a sofa, as a single person as yourself, I found a chaise the ideal piece of furniture. Just a thought. Anyway, just a thought. Enjoyed your blog. I did subscribe. Interested in what you will decide on. Cheers
I suspect your bit of an introvert when it comes to your own home, as I am too. You definitely need a sofa, and the one you got was alright. Plus I know your thoughts on a TV but if you have Julia's kids come round with julia i'l give them something to watch, so don't be selfish, no man is an island, even introverts need company sometimes!! Making your home more homely will attract people trust me. 😊
Nice video and nice music :o) We don't like leather sofas for all the reasons Jackie has said, slippery etc.Much better to have a material one and you can use a throw or get the easy covers for them that you can wash.
I brother watching you 🤗 all the shows and say he name out mine 🤣 allot 😅 Michael O'Donnell hellos maybe die of shocked 😳 serious keep the great 👍 work Ireland I from originally I forgotten what time the UK did to Irene in Ireland it over
Erm, silly question but have you measured the space available to fit in a sofa vs the dimensions of the sofas in the shop? Just speaking as someone who tried to fit a 3 seat sofa in a space the size of a 2 seater!
I think leather sofas are only good in moderate weather. If it's too warm or cold they're very uncomfortable, I've had them, never again. They only look good.
but why, oh why, as an avowed "Old Englishman", are you always wearing jeans? Surely cords or flannels would be so much more appropriate? regards, Mike M.
I never thought that I would end up watching a video about a man choosing a sofa, let alone enjoying it - well done!
I love the early winter sun.
Nice Spitfire painting!
Thank you very much!
The leather roll arm sofa jumped out as ideal. Suites you Sir!
It did look good.

I must admit I did like the leather reddish sofa looked quite comfy.

Sofa so good!
£200 for a used sofa seems a bit steep, but the £30 one will do the same job,and you won't mind spilling your coffee on it.
Steep? It’s effing vertical !
@@Oscartherescuedog Some are even more, and we've paid it. Both from that shop and antique shops. But they were pre-1988 Chesterfields.
