Why didn't you put the flying Scotsman with two tenders? Bittern went faster because she could push more water and go faster at higher speed programmed.
I wonder what would happen if these steamers went up against each other with a full rake of carriages (like 10 to 14 of them) and see how they fair and prove what steamer is the ultimate express engine! The added weight of the consist could create an interesting dynamic… as it isn’t just about speed in my idea. It also shows the raw power of the engine!

It’s Ben W again. Flying Scotsman was built for speed too. 100 miles per hour is very fast for a non-streamlined nearly 100-year-old steam train.

The A3s were just built for express. the A4s were built for Fastest Expresses.
