@@arshpreetkaur7871 The protests were initially triggered by a government proposal to limit nitrogen emissions in The Netherlands by halving the country's livestock,[5][6][7] but protesting farmers have frequently told media that they are motivated by a perceived lack of respect for their profession by the Dutch populace, media and politicians.[8][9] from wikipedia. Me and entire family are farmers from Coorg and we fully support the bill as this gives us freedom .The coffee board got dissolved couple of years back ensuring that we farmers can sell to highest bidder. The mandi system was introduction by the colonial forces to control the prices and buy produce at cheap prices and unfortunately we stil support a colonial time system
Uh, farmers in Karnataka are protesting, one of the reasons I don't think you're a farmer. Not to mention, why do you think corporates won't buy at a low price and sell at high? At least middlemen are supervised.
We are and just because we dnt support the protest doesn't mean we are nt...I certainly nt seen any farmers protesting here...well let me say we are working in de farm
@@vainarendra213 Well my dear, let me tell you: 1. Farmers are working in the farm because I too would not have had the courage to protest in winter while the govt. is using tear gas. 2. The laws are harmful because it lets corporates completely hoard crops, because it says that farmers can't go to courts in case of a dispute with corporates, and because it basically gets rid of the current mandi system.
This protest is so big that, it stretches to kilometers on the national highway. Farmers have brought rations along with them for 6 months stay and they have make shift gyms, hospitals and they sleep on that place itself at cold night some have come with their families.

previous farm law actually didn't benefited our NE states (North Eastern states) in anyway, so this PROTEST doesn't benefit my state. Only some states like Punjab and Haryana have monopoly over farming. Our farmers from NE states didn't make a dime from the previous farm law. Our farm products are also limited to our region only. They shouldn't scarp the farm law instead if possible ask government to make much better one, but scarping the bill and implementing the previous farm law again won't help my state in anyway. I stand for the farmers of my state. Not supporting the PROTEST because my state doesn't benefit from this PROTEST.
@@amrit9253 Assam, no mandis are here in my state. Labourers in the tea gardens are 95% of them are the tea tribes of Assam who came like 100 years ago from odisha. Who are also paid less by the managers. And if wanna know about my tribe who farms rice mostly and hoards some for ownself and sell mostly in the local godown owners but most of the profit goes to the Bania brokers, But I don't support the new farm law either but I want reforms. Which help farmers from my NE states also.
I guess one should first take a deep understanding of the new rule before leaving comment, and the only mistake of govt. is that they didn't properly discussed the benifits of it with the farmers association , which led to misinterpretation , and gave chance to some wicked people to mislead the farmers which in turn caused all this
So for those of you who don't know what this is about... Basically farmers in india are very poor. They take their crops to a market for it to be sold and whatever isn't sold the government buys at a lower cost. So that's their safety net. Modi introduced these laws that said that farmers can go to any market to sell their crops instead of just their normal regular ones and the government won't buy what isn't sold. Big corporations are also being pushed into the industry and they will end up buying the crops at a very low rice. So in the end, the farmers make less money.
Modi is also friends with Mukesh Ambani (richest man in India) who recently invested a lot of money into agricultural development so that he can factory farm and undercut these farmers and make himself even wealthier. Indians in general lose a lot of money if agriculture is privatized and these farmers are screwed. It's just another case of the rich getting richer.
@@SunnySide388 he's investing his own money in what ever sector the government allows investment into. He's not using the government's money It's his hard earned money. Why do you guys always drag Mukesh Ambani into the unnecessary political drama. It shows your weakness. My point is that don't accuse someone blindly. Whether farm law is good or bad, let's save it for another day.
@@bootup856 Did I say he was investing government money? What sense would that make? You don't seem to understand the situation. Ambani is investing in factory farms where he'll be able to produce more goods than any farmer in India and then sell that same product much cheaper than the farmers because Ambani is a billionaire and can afford to undercut them while still making a profit. The man is literally putting every farmer out of work and trying to gain a monopoly on the agricultural sector of India. Also don't even try defending billionaires. Ambani isn't your friend he's not looking out for you if anything he's actively trying to see how he can gain more money at YOUR expense, right now it's at the farmers expense. Just because Ambani is friends with Modi doesn't make him a good guy and I'm not accusing him blindly it's not a secret that he's trying to take over India's agricultural sector he's stated his intention before. What's REALLY stupid his defending a billionaire blindly like how you are. Hopefully your best friend Amabni sends you a card personally thanking you for trying to defend his honour.
@Amy Callis what I meant by that is I'm not interested in picking up a fight on whether the farm law is good or bad. Your free to protest for your rights.
do the new laws mean that corporations can manipulate prices, drive them down, by refusing to buy through the markets, and wait for the desparate farmers to come to the alternate ones?
I'm basically from Punjab. My family, my villager fellas, and the whole Punjabi Farmers unions including Haryana Farmer Unions and many farmers from other states of India are protesting peacefully at the Roads of New Delhi. Remaining ones at the home are praying for the solutions asap as sitting at roads in such cold weather far away from home for anyone couldn't be fun. Some of them have sacrificed their lives to this protest, cause of cold, road accidents and as many are olds aged at protest, also many committed suicide at home and in protest as well. All they want is abolishment of Farm Laws 2020, the Law made in the parliament without any discussion with any farmer union. Government says this law is beneficial for farmers. But farmers are wondering how this privatisation of Mandis, no minimum selling price, no right to claim a case against buyer if they don't pay for your crops, would help farmers. It will only give power to Corporates to buy crops at low prices, without any worry of being dissed legally, and finally when poor farmers won't have any option other than selling their lands. Corporates will but farmers lands and then food will be become gold, because now Corporates own Land, own crops, so they'll decide the price of food in market. It's not an assumption, the example of Mineral Water bottles are there. Free water of villages is 30₹/bottle in cities. Please support Indian Farmers.🙏
@Raman Singh farmers know that Congress is the one who took this law in assembly first, but couldn't pass it, couldn't apply it in their times. I think if central/union govt gives that 1500 crores to punjab govt per year and 1000 crore to punjab commision agents it will stop.
Guys from what i read the bill is one of the best moves for agriculture. Such protest of resistance is not seen in south India because the bill will eliminate middle men allowing farmers not only to cash in when demand increases but also have a set base price to prevent loss. In india it is a very big issue
why are they protesting there?
@@arshpreetkaur7871 The protests were initially triggered by a government proposal to limit nitrogen emissions in The Netherlands by halving the country's livestock,[5][6][7] but protesting farmers have frequently told media that they are motivated by a perceived lack of respect for their profession by the Dutch populace, media and politicians.[8][9] from wikipedia.

@@vainarendra213 Well my dear, let me tell you:
1. Farmers are working in the farm because I too would not have had the courage to protest in winter while the govt. is using tear gas.

previous farm law actually didn't benefited our NE states (North Eastern states) in anyway, so this PROTEST doesn't benefit my state.

I guess one should first take a deep understanding of the new rule before leaving comment, and the only mistake of govt. is that they didn't properly discussed the benifits of it with the farmers association , which led to misinterpretation , and gave chance to some wicked people to mislead the farmers which in turn caused all this
And all those farmers are from Punjab, you can tell by the turbans.
@@bootup856
Did I say he was investing government money?

I'm in support of farmer protest but those politician and people who use this protest as their own weapons to attack on government is wrong ....
Then what's the point of an opposition? The job of the opposition is to oppose the bad things the government does, and they certainly are doing that with reports.

For their rights, yeah sure. How much do you know what their demands are? I'm in India right now (New Delhi) and I've literally never heard of a farmer that is okay with these new laws. Plus the only reason why you see so many Punjabi farmers present is because Punjab is the agricultural state, most of our countries produce is grown there. Also there's literally TONS of protests happening all over the country by farmers from all over India just look at Tamil nadu and the farmers protesting there. You're trying to villify the Mandi's (vegetable markets) because that's what your lord and Master modi wants you to do so they can justify this insanely corrupt bill. The markets were never an issue for anyone before. My family have been farmers here for literally hundreds of years but this bill will be the death of us.
"opening up new opportunities for farmers to sell their produce to whoever they want to" and who the hell would that be if not the markets?! Do you have any concept of how farmers even make money here?
The super wealthy will invest their money in starting factory farms and put the rest of us out of business because we just can't compete with billionaires like Ambani who can start massive factory farms and afford to undercut all the farmers.
This isn't about being "woke" this is about our lively hoods. I supported modi throughout most of his time in office but these last few months have me hating the man with a passion. Modi isn't a leader for the people he doesn't care about the average Indian he just wants to make himself and his freinds richer. If these bills do not get changed to benifit farmers that's bad news for all of India... The rich just keep getting richer and none of that money is trickling down to us.
@@SunnySide388 I am from Maharashtra and farmers here are happy with the bill. I have relatives that are farmers themselves and they do not want the laws to be repealed. Maharashtra had already done away with APMCs which was a positive step.
Many farmer unions have met the agricultural minister and have announced support for the new laws, and some of them have threatened to protest if the laws are repealed. It's already covered by media so you can find the sources.
I am not vilifying mandis. They vilify themselves. Go watch Mandi shortfilm that your overlord Kunal Kamra had shared two years ago on his channel. Maybe then you'll understand why mandis are not good.
Punjab being the green state is not justified today. India has long passed the food shortage phase and has become a food surplus nation. There is virtually no industry in Punjab. Unemployment is rampant and so is drug use among the youth. Not to mention radicalization. Punjab cannot sustain itself as an agricultural state anymore. It needs investments, at least in its agri sector to start with.
Stop justifying farmer poverty. You are doing an evil deed. Wake up already!
What they did on 26th January was very bad , please at least being an Indian you should respect your country. I don't support this. 😞😞

You know what the problem is .. the government, the common people everyone thinks "Farmers are uneducated and fools". If they are not given rights of course they will protest! The laws are like forcing someone to take a gift even if they don't want it
to the people from other who are supporting them i want you to read the bill. They are manipulated. The bill is going to help small farmers who are exploited by middle man by paying them low money. They are also asking for letting them burn after the harvest and not making it illegal despite of knowing the Punjab is very close to Delhi and contributes a ton of pollution to it too. Earlier they had valid things to protest for now they are doing it cause they are manipulated by the govt working there. Other states which doesn't have Congress aren't protesting. Their needs are not appropriate and I hope the govt stays strong with their words and help them out to have better understanding of the bill and not be confused.

For those who do not know. The farmers are protesting against 3 farm Bill's that have been passed by the parliament in September. Was this pre-covid?
If the previous law was so great, then why India has one of the lowest per hectare productivity in the world.
Why has growth in agriculture sector stagnated.
Why have the Exports of agriculture produce stagnated.
India already gives agriculture subsidies worth 44 billion dollars for low quality farm produce. Imagine Bumrah if this much subsidies given to manufacturing system for past 20 years. We would have Industrialized by then.
Now the protest movement turns to brutal. It's a kind of tragic.
No farmers no food 🍕🌭🌮🥗🍱🌯🥧🍪
Support farmers 🙏🙏🙏
Yes also those farmer who support this bill too
1. The three farm bills are already in place and working fine as of now
and they are part of congress , bjp, ncf parties 2019 election manifesto.
ex farmer minister of ncp and present congress chief minister of punjab also
supported the same reforms in the past. Now all oppositon parties change their
stand and making farmers scape goat.
2. post dialogue with farmers and govt ,On december 9th clarified with 10 point
ammendment that all the doubts farmers posed and will be tabled in next session of
parliament. But protesting farmers unions change stand after dec 9th and want full
repeal.
3. In 2019 farmers can't sell their produced rice/wheat/vegetables etc out side of
the district or county and cant sell to any one outside of the APMC market yards/mandis
and farmer has to pay 8.5 percent fees( 3% to market yard improvement, 3% to district
development , 2.5% to licensed commision agents). In some markets they collect both
from seller and buyer each 8.5% . These new 2020 farm laws allows farmers to sell
to any where in india to any one . no restriction. It is upto local government to
charge needed cess or fees.
4. In 2019 only 10% of total agriculture produce (mainly wheat and rice)was bought by
government agency FCI (Food Corporation of India as a stockpile for emergeny security) .
85% was purchased by private buyers . In 2019 only 15% of produce of total agriculture was
purchased at minimum support price (MSP) and rest was purchased at lower price. Till 2010
the minimum support price was lower than the international price of the goods. After 2010
the minimum support price was increased higher than international price and no exporter is
buying at msp except govt agency and all godowns of FCI agency are full with 4.5 trillion
tonnes of wheat and rice .
5. who is at loss due to this farm bills of 2020 are
A. punjab state governments who charge 3% cess for district developement will loose around 15000 millions
(1500 crores) indian rupees per year income.
B. the punjab licensed commision agents (who are mainly punjabi sikh jat caste landlords )who get 2.5% charge
per transaction thro markets will loose 1000 crores (10000 million) rupees per year only in punjab state.
c. Other than punjab and haryana no other state charge district fees and market cess and they charge only commision
agent fees. Some states there are no markets/mandis like in kerala (since 1980) and bihar (since 2008).
6. The funding for protest is happening by charging 500 rupees per farmer . 80% farmers own only less than 2 hectres /5 acre land.
7. The foreign punjab seperatist/secissionist group sikh for justice announced 1 millon dollars as donation and indian banks stoped the
distribution asking account holder to show FCRA ( Foreign control regulatory) registrants for permission
8. All want farm reforms. Punjab and Haryana farmers unions want to repeal and rest of indian country farmers are happy that they can sell
anywhere. I think if central/union govt gives that 1500 crores to punjab govt per year and 1000 crore to punjab commision agents it will stop.
thank you! I've been wishing to see more of this in the news.

Guys from what i read the bill is one of the best moves for agriculture. Such protest of resistance is not seen in south India because the bill will eliminate middle men allowing farmers not only to cash in when demand increases but also have a set base price to prevent loss. Change is hard but this really for the farmers benefit alone
But last year we have seen Tamil farmers protesting naked and eating mice to protest again government. I have seen many Tamil farmers supportive the protest.. Anyways , even the protest are not as widespread as in Punjab and haryana , it's because current system in agriculture in different in these states from rest of the india
