The Canon EOS R8 - Make the leap

- Give your creativity a full-frame upgrade with the Canon EOS R8, this lightweight mirrorless camera that delivers superb photos and video. Enjoy better bokeh, wider angles of view, and image quality that will blow you away, even in low light.
Watch Canon Ambassador, Martin Bissig, challenge content creators to take the leap to full frame. Current DSLR shooter, Alexandra Andreeva, takes on the challenge of creating a series of photos, that show the transformation of the city of Paris, aiming to become the greenest capital of Europe by 2030.
See the difference with next-level image quality
A full-frame, 24.2 megapixel sensor combines detail, speed and low-light performance at up to ISO 102,400.1 Capture details in the brightest and darkest parts of a landscape, and create portraits with beautiful bokeh.
Get serious about video
Shoot documentaries and independent films that stand out from the crowd. 4K footage at up to 60p, oversampled from 6K, looks sensational. Pro-filmmaking tools, such as Clog3, make it easy to shoot and colour grade your best work.
Lightweight design, heavyweight features
Our lightest full frame camera yet. At just 461g,2 the EOS R8 is great for content creators and anyone shooting events on location. A dedicated switch lets you swap between photo and video modes, retaining settings in each one.
Intelligent focusing that’s simply smart
Our class-leading Dual Pixel CMOS AF II recognises subjects even near the edges of the frame,3 and tracks them even if they briefly vanish from view. Shoot portraits or interviews and the AF locks on to a subject’s eyes, face, head or body.
Connected to your workflow
Connect to smart devices, Wi-Fi networks and laptops to share photos and movies with followers and friends, thanks to built-in Wi-Fi and ‘always on’ Bluetooth 4.2. You can even control the camera remotely from your phone and use the EOS R8 as a high-quality webcam.

I like Martin Bissig & Alexandra Andreeva. The Canon EO5 R8 too.
Great video to really show this camera..
Very good thanks
I'm sticking with my R6. Nice work though
Bro R6 better than R8
Thanks! How are the colors on this camera for video? Are they the same as the Canon R5 out of camera?
is the whole video recorded on the r8 too?
Thanks❤️
Great camera, I'd like to buy it
I'm ready to make the next step and upgrade from Canon M50 to a real Pro Camera.
I would like some opinions about what camera to buy and why ( 3k euro max)
R8
I just got it! cant wait to explore India next month
When is this going to be back in stock in the UK?
I hope it's a good value option between the R and the R6ii
So was the whole advert shot on the R8? And if not, what camera was used? Thanks
Hi! Where the screen overlay says "Shot on R8", you're looking at footage or images from the EOS R8. Otherwise this film was shot on a variety of EOS cameras 👍
When you will bring the optical viewfinder back? When the camera form factor will be mor bigger? I don’t undeestand why your designers believe that a snall form factor is what we want
Not all Camera users are Pro, some just like a small Camera which is substantial better then a smartphone and they would love this Camera.
You apparently want a more advanced camera, therefore it doesnt make sense with your cpmments.
And accept that the OVF is a thing of the past, now a days we use EVF and it works perfectly. It has a lot of advantages to the OVF.
So buy the R5/6 or even the R3 if you can afford it.
@@jrgenolesen5569 thanks for your response. OVF is not a thing of a past, Canon register their patent for a ML with OVF. Another example is Leica M with a ORF.
You lost me when you referred to the contradiction, I said that a bigger form factor, like a grip which can accommodate all fingers, will be more conformable for me. Where is the contradiction? Anyway, thanks for your time.
Cant wait. I’m gonna make the leap. 👏
Do it! Make sure you tag us if you post pictures from your new EOS R8!
İs it suitable for stock video?
4K 60p, Full HD 180fps slow motion, 10-bit Canon Log 3... we think so!
please, give us clean hdmi output with screen on and internal recording! in all cameras!! or we will have to switch to lumix 😢
and also be able to see the depth of field in photography mode
Woah, excited 🔥
Where is the more pro oriented sports/wildlife APS-C body? The R7 isn’t it, due to your deliberate omission of the battery grip. Or at least give the full frame bodies the firmware update to shoot stills in crop mode like Nikon have done for years. Sure you can crop in post but if you need the “reach” as you shoot at least it’s there.
the commercial says that the camera is amazing
however, it seems that the one who is truly amazing here is the photographer
No mechanical shutter is bad news for portrait photography with hss
It's still possible to get by with ND filters. There's risk of slight image degradation, but it's up to the user if they think that the higher price tags of the other R cameras are worth that.
Personally, I think that HSS itself is a pain to work with, but I would have liked that option to remain available too.
What kind of bag is this?
Some canon r8 user complaint that it has heating issue and battery get drain easily is it true?
Hi! Ambient temperature will play a role in determining how long the EOS R8 can shoot video; if the internal temperature of the camera becomes too high recording times may reduce. If you refer to the EOS R8's manual (here: www.canon-europe.com/cameras/eos-r8/specifications/) you can find more information about recording times and battery life. Let us know if we can do anything more for you!
@@CanonEuropethanks for the reply.
For short movie content which is best R10 or R8?
@@Vishumanuಕನ್ನಡ Tough question! The EOS R8 is full-frame, which means shallower depth of field, great low-light performance, and 4K at up to 60fps, as well as a super high-quality 4K mode that's oversampled from 6K. The EOS R10 is a little lighter and has an APS-C sensor, which means every lens you attach has a little more reach. We have a handy camera comparison tool that might help you make your decision here: canon.sm/4bUwe94.
@@CanonEurope thank you
3:12 what filter😳
Is it too hard to include IBIS as a standard function ? It's 2023
huh? then find a 1,500 usd dollar camera in Nikon and Sony can match out that kind of specs and autofocused,.
They had to remove it to bring the price down you clown 🤡 you want IBIS, go r6 it's that simple. You cannot have everything you crybaby
@@kenjiyamamoto423
Dude's got a point though.
Props to Canon for letting the R8 use the same sensor as in the more expensive R6II, but I think it's also time for Canon to let IBIS become a standard feature throughout the entire range.
The 60D started the use of the fully-articulating screen, the 70D introduced dual-pixel AF, and both features are now present in pretty much every camera that they make. IBIS should be next in line.
@@IndigoEyePhotography not all videographer wanted IBIS dude,. me personally i don't want IBIS,. my gimbal can do the work for me,.
@@IndigoEyePhotography then go straight to R6mark ii
do guys have a little brain?? your expecting a premium product and paying for a cheap price,. come on! dude,. use your brain a little bit,.
my idea of a movie camera:I only imagine a film camera without shooting photography, only a movie camera,4k full frame, 10 bit, 4:2:2, 60p-100p without crop, C-log2.3, without full hd, good stabilization, reasonable length of shooting, without overheating...and price 2000-2500 dollars
having a 750D, upgrade to a R6 or R8 ?
Save and go R6ii, better battery. I don't know what idiot at Canon's R&D insists on the LPE17 battery.
Depends. Do you need the larger battery, dual storage slots or the ibis? And are those things worth the price difference?
😍😍😍.
The lack of image stabilization is the biggest failure of this camera. Canon clearly stands apart from the competition.
C at CANON stands for Crappy and Crippled - the very ugly R5C is a fixed R5 due to overheating.
Would love it if you allow Sigma to make lenses for the mirrorless cameras....
At €1800 in Germany, it is not a bargain.
1500 dollars aux usa et 1800 euros en France 😡 c'est pas cool ....
@@jeromea.photography3534 You do have to consider though, that the price in the US is excluding tax. Add that (which varies by state) and the price is similar. I just find the price a bit high anyway, for what the camera is.
@@doros9.2 ok oui je comprends mais 300 euros d'écart ça fait cher la taxe 😅 mais on est habituer en France 😭 je m'attendais vraiment a 1500 euros max moi aussi .. Merci à vous
@@jeromea.photography3534 I agree that €1500 would be a more suitable price.
It is, compared to the price of the R6 ii.
Mid range lens please! Stop with the dimmer lens that hold no long term value.
dear canon. Photo enthusiasts and professionals all over the world love your cameras, but there is too much marketing and little canon philosophy in your cameras. Why make two almost identical cameras and that they somehow compete with each other, one cut the video functions, and the other removed the stabilizer on the matrix.
Because. Money 🤷🏼♂️
This is a business
Dear you, the R8 is significantly cheaper.
then you wanted a camera for 1,500usd with the same specs of R6ii are you stupid???
go to Nikon or Sony Brand,. then find a camera worth 1,500 usd that offers more than R8 can do,.
@@kenjiyamamoto423 don't throw insults on the Internet, don't waste your time, I don't take them seriously. The point is that this is the same canon rp on digic 10 with minimal differences from the r6 mark2 and the price difference is high. Pure Marketing
i want to make review on my channel
I guess the AE-P, Ae1,Av, is enough for me! What do the newest cameras really do? Nobody is making prints except those movie screen size garbage. Big boring prints. Make prints, books not postings!
A wonderful camera, give it to a poor Russian amateur photographer.
This is... What year is it now? 2023? Then why you are talking about standard features like eye autofocus and 4k60 as something special?
Wake up!
Fuji had this 5 years ago. Sony had it 3 year ago on full frame. What are you proud of?
sony a7iv with 4k 60p is cropped into apsc mode. lol . this is full frame 4k 60p.
@@truthseeker6804 a7s3? Also cropped? Fx3? Also cropped?
@@dezmont9191989 those are above $3400, this is less than half the price at $1500. NO sony full frame camera can match these specs at a similar price.
@@truthseeker6804 Of course Sony is more expensive. Cos they have more futures. You are paying IBIS, you paying for proper coded. You are paying for automatic. "It's a revolution Jonny"
@@truthseeker6804 and yes. There is completely no point for cheap FF as all lenses will cost about the same price or more expensive as the body itself. Of a person fill buy it, he won't be able to afford lenses. In this case it will be better to buy APS-C.
Boring commercial...... hoping to see a better one pls
Trash camera. Make some 1.4 prime lenses instead.
Trash is amazing. You know nothing.
Rac
Have you tried this camera out?
Looks to be an excellent camera for the price
WTF
No Image and video stabilization.
I waited for EOS R8
But sadly it disappointed me.
Dear Canon, You need to be mile ahead to compete with Sony. 😡
it has video stabilization digital
