I have been learning Chinese for 8 months everyday around 2 hours. I learn by immersion, I can speak a little bit, but most of the sentences are set, 'prepared in my mind'. Everyone says that Chinese grammar is super easy, and that's the fact. It is indeed relativly easy, but the sentence order is killing me. I am super confused when I try to write or speak longer phrases, I completly dont feel the correct order. Apart from reading, listening and training pronunciation/tones I feel like I need to study hard the grammar rules. I wanted to avoid it, because many people say that I will get it during the immersion, but I dont know.....Anyway my plan is by the end of March which will be 10 months of learning pass HSK3 exam. I think If I pass it will be great a result, and summary of my learning. However my question is should I try or should I be able to speak at my current learning journey? Or I am to hard on myself? I know that trying to speak or put sentences together is, in a sense, a form of leaving the comfort zone, but maybe I am doing it too fast?

shouldnt be able to speak, stop being too hard on yourself. It took me like 1 year of nonstop immersion (literally 16+ hours a day) after about 4-5 months of getting the basics down which was still spending 8 hours with the language daily but not understanding nearly as much. Speaking comes naturally with time. You gotta realize that the thing about speaking is that your brain is kind of listening to understand for a while and its just struggling to understand and it’s only AFTER you understand EFFORTLESSLY that your brain’s like oh now we can look at the details, how are they saying things, and thats when your brain is now working on the output part, but you still need a couple hundred hours AFTER you can understand EFFORTLESSLY before speaking will become natural to you but here’s some things you can do to speed up the process
      1. Start a habit of shadowing, matt vs japan has a great video on the ideal shadowing setup, also his guide to output is really good. Matt vs japan is good for all things language learning if you haven’t heard of him.
      2. Shadow the same things over and over and once you know it basically by heart then start using it as passive listening like when you’re cleaning or working out for example. And then pick something new to “cook” by shadowing over and over and then add that to passive listening and repeat ad nauseam. Over time you’ll find that youll just start instinctively saying whole phrases you heard from this content just because youre in the write situation like it just comes to you naturally.
This is a way to kind of “hack” the system if you’re ok with a lot of repetition but at the end of the day this is just a strategy to give immersion a little more bang for your buck in terms of how much you’re acquiring but it’s still just immersion at the end of the day. 8 months as a native English speaker is not going to even be close to enough even if you’re literally spending 24 hours immersed to speak naturally. It just don’t happen that fast brother. The best thing I can do is tell you to be patient and enjoy the process. Like I said I’m about a year into going hard with immersion after 6 months of going not too hard but still hard compared to most and only now am I feeling like yeah this speaking thing is starting to come naturally and thats also after hundreds of hours of shadowing. Youll find that once you get past the point where you are missing words and are trying to pronounce them correctly, your mouth literally hurts after a while because the muscles aren’t used to it. I’m literally days away from starting the output video routine Matt talks about in the video and I’m so excited because I have so much potential to realize, but for you I tell you brother, be patient

@@史安达 Thank you so much for ur response and kind words. Yes I know Mat, and also many other 'language' youtubers. And yes I also do a shadowing since the very beggining, but also here is my question, cuz many people say that learners should do shadowing, watching for example news or by some TV shows, stories. I found it quite difficult so I switched to reading after the lady from videos like HSK 3 sentences and so on. I wonder whether this count or no 😝 That's true motivation+patience is a key, but there are some days when Im losing a patience, and while u lose patience u can get frustrated, and when u get frustrated u can drop the process of learning... Anyway I need to admit that the amount of time u spend on learning is amazing. For me 2, sometimes 3 hours a day is a lot. Also my native language is Polish:) It doesnt change a lot haha, but when it comes to pronunciation ch,sh,zh it gives a nice boost because we have also the exact same sound:)
