I always love to see Bredan Whitecross in these highlights. Here he's playing in the 37 guernsey with Young playing in the 11 Brendan would inherit once Clinton had left for Collingwood. I feel for Whitecross as he was integral to our many successful seasons where we pushed for finals and won many cups. His contribution was immense and I hope Hawks fans recognise his importance during our extremely successful campaigns. His job on Joel Selwood late in the 2013 preliminary final, after he had re-injured his knee, was one for the ages. He knew his season was done and he stayed on Selwood like a man possessed until the final siren. He deserved a Premiership Medallion that season. Injuring his ACL in his right knee against Collingwood in the qualifying final of the year before.....Hawthorn lacked the powerful kicking he had delivered all season and the Swans didn't need to worry about matching up on him. I reckon John Longmire drew a deep breath of relief knowing Whitecross wouldn't play the 2012 Grand Final. My vote for 'the player most deserving of a Premiership Medal at Hawthorn' goes to Brendan Whitecross. I cannot think of another player to play for such a long period, play at such a high level, work through injury adversity and not taste the ultimate reward on the MCG during an era where the Hawks owned the last day of the AFL season.
