    Thanks. I just followed your instructions. I just moved into a place and I inherited this water softener. I wasn’t planning on using it until I realized how hard the water is here, never lived in an area with this problem. So I did my research, cleaned it up and filled it with salt, put the rust off, clicked recharge, now it’s making nose like water is running . But I have no idea how It’s suppose to sound, what to expect. Any information would be appreciated, thanks.

    Hi I did this cleaning and it worked great it even increased my water pressure but I don't know if this caused a issue with my salt turning to mush or could it be bad salt pellets ? I'm Leary of tiring it again because cleaning out the brine tank is a big job. Your thoughts. Ty

    I don't understand why they presenter did not precisely measure the amount of rust out chemical and properly agitated to thoroughly put it into solution in the distilled water. It's my guess that making sure the rest out chemical was completely dissolved prior to adding it to the brine tank would have made for a much more thorough job cleaning the resin during the regeneration cycle. Anyway, just some suggestions to help improve the presenters next video. Also, thank you for this UA-cam video.

    What about a potassium style soft water system? A potassium style system require the same maintenance as a salt style soft water system as shown on this video? Thank you.

    My water softener supplier is recommending to change the resin every 12 month because we have very hard water. Every article I could find on the Internet recommends a change between 5 - 10 years. What is the truth?

    You were doing pretty "well", until you used a drinking cup to measure the powder and then with no funnel, poured the product all over your counter! Since it's an inhalation, eye and skin hazard, I hope you cleaned up carefully...while holding your breath!

    Does water stay in the softener after recharge is complete?
    My salt level is 4 and water level in it is 6.?
    Does water need to drain completely after recharge?

      The entire tank is the brine tank. Poor the mixture in when the salt is low.

      You can use the Iron Out to dissolve iron build up in your tank. If it’s not build up in your tank, you may have eroding pipes.

    How was your experience with ge water softener, does it reduce water pressure? Which model did you get? I’m thinking about getting one.

    • @ahealthierhouse1125

      It has been great! We do not see any reduction in water pressure and it has made a huge difference.

      @@ahealthierhouse1125 thanks for your response, did you get a reverse osmosis system for drinking water ?

    • @ahealthierhouse1125
      @ahealthierhouse1125  3 роки тому +1

      We decided to pass on getting the reverse osmosis since our fridge dispenses filtered water and we felt it was sufficient enough.

      According to the bottle, you can add it directly to the tank.

    does distilled water matter?

    • @ahealthierhouse1125
      @ahealthierhouse1125  3 роки тому +3

      We personally recommend distilled water so the minerals in your tap water don’t react with the rust out.

  • @billsmith3563
    @billsmith3563 7 місяців тому +1

    Do not use Rust out if you are using a rust defense or iron removing salt. It will create a gas that smells terrible and can damage your softener. This is from the manufacturer and they dont put it on the label as a warning.

    I thought people use this system to Eliminate toxins from the water not add more to it!
