What the heck is an Iver Tool??
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 гру 2023
- I've got a lot of question about the pile of brackets in my toolbox, and although I've used it quite a few times, I haven't yet used it on a job that was filmed for UA-cam. Well today that finally changed and I'm able to show how it works on an actual truck. The Iver Tool allows for much better weight distribution across your own wrecker, while also making it easier to hookup to low trucks, and also gives you a very string recovery point when needed.

Basically same concept as wheel barrow? Longer handles makes easier work.
Exactly
@@CaseyLaDelle can you give a like to the quick connect kit you have
As we say in engineering, "The nice thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from!".
... and when you don't like any of them, just wait for next year for another one to appear!
It is indeed strange that this is not standardized. I watched the same system in use here in Europe, and also here there are at least 6 different systems in use, of course all different from what Casey shows here. But the idea is similar.
Major props for backing an articulated truck with a tow truck. And not just a few yards to help clear a turn, proper backing.
You backed that up like you knew what you're doing. Very impressive
Girls do that in Sweden all the time with pup trailers. It is impressive to watch being done. Their shipping is centered around this tyle of trucks.
I remember the first time I tried to back a tractor trailer behind a tow truck 🙄
@@larrybe2900 Those are definitely fun to watch
He as a experienced stunt double that does all the impressive stuff.
I am a firm believer if there is a easier way Casey will find it
Wow - I honestly don't think a better or more clear explanation could be given, Casey! It's fun to see the various tools in operation, but when it's explained in a manner that is so easy to understand, it gives a whole new level of respect to not only you, but ALL of the heavy haul rescue rigs out there. I agree with you fully that if there's a tool to make a job easier or safer, that's a tool to have. Might only need it once, but that one time can be life changing.
I am really impressed with your double pin backing up capability….Well done Casey
I like that you replace each piece of equipment back to its designated spot before going to the next piece.
Impressive backing up a truck and trailer, pretty similar to backing a set of doubles
Way easier. A set of doubles has an additional pivot point in the middle
@@CaseyLaDelle Up north of the border here we have what's called the "C train", which is like an A train double, except the converter has two pintles that hook onto the rear of your trailer and basically functions as a frame extension with a 5th wheel. The converters axle steers, but I'm able to lock it straight with an air switch to make it easy to back up (as easy as backing up multiple trailers can be, anyway 😂)
I love watching someone that knows how to back up a trailer in a straight line!
Your channel is almost making me want to come out of retirement. You make this stuff look like fun...I know, it's the stuff that you don't film, and the editing out of "colorful" language that is the reality of the job. Thanks...enjoying the videos...very educational.
Well that is an awesome set up! I can see how the Ivertool can make towing a big rig easier , safer and faster! That is so much safer than trying to mess around on the side of a highway lifting and blocking the wheels to make enough room to get under the trucks front Axle!! Thanks for taking us along Casey. 👍
Damn dude. You backed that up with that midde not flopping once but under control the whole time. Props!
I love hearing and seeing the tools of your trade! As a former machine operator in excavations it was always cool to see what was new in my world. Now it's your world.
What a helpful setup. Work smarter not harder! The heavy wrecker is a beast!
Another great educational video about the towing business. I now look at tow trucks, especially the bigger ones, with an eye to see if I can discern the things you have demonstrated and shown. Thanks for opening eyes to this business.
I'm always amazed at the microclimate at that sanding yard. Its in a bowl and all of the trees in the bottom are lodge pole, rather than the fir trees. I bet the topo lines would perfectly define the edge of the lodge poles.
I've been there, and I think it's more the area where the ground is all volcanic cinder just grows lodgepole. (There are scattered lodgepoles elsewhere in the area but not large numbers.)
That area around Bend and Sisters is relatively dry compared to the western slope, and all I remember were the Yellow or Ponderosa pines, rather than any firs, Douglas or Red or White.
Casey “I never said I was good at this” ?! You don’t HAVE to say anything at all! You are good at this! Everything from backing that thing up like a stick to helping children at Christmas! 🙏🏻🏆
I'm a firm believer in having more tools- you never know when they'll be needed. I'm very happy you were able to buy more equipment. It will make recoveries easier for you and you can do more to be able make videos for us. Win-win all around. 👍 Stay safe and GOD bless
I love hearing the clink of Ivor tools in the morning!
iver is a great dude known him for years
Never met or had any interaction with the guy, but from what I’ve seen of the stuff he does he’s a really sharp guy
Everything has a place and you sure do place it back in order.
You have a good camera man
I saw a Zacklift towtruck on I-35 in Round Rock, TX, Friday and thought, "Same cab as Casey's wrecker, except painted green and white livery."
Marvel at your skill of handling your equipment. Multiple vehicles are hard to control on backing up.
Casey you always put together something that does the impossible job. I have learned so much to add to fifty years of log ging.😊😊😊
Always enjoy seeing what’s in the truck ‼️
Love your channel and watching you work and explain everything! Stay safe out there!❤️🙏
Once again Casey teaches me about something I never knew i was interested in learning about.
I felt like a kid in class and enjoy the education from Casey. Cheers, Mate.
When I was towing in Europe we used a "VDZ set" its quite similar to Ivel tool.
It had ist own adapters for tow bar, lots of EU truck have a screw in tow hooks and air ride front axle + low front bumper...
It was nice to use just screw appropriately "bolt" then turn a locking nut, screw on a hook and just hook to tow bar with proprietary adapter.
+ it had its own adapter for witching out a truck.
And it wasn't less expensive than Ivel Tool.
The setup & take down of these Iver Tools takes less time than it takes to watch this video. Great for when you’re in a less than ideal situation like we were. Casey is also pretty good at backing things up too. I was impressed.
Your skills coupled with your knowledge makes for an impressive capability. Always impressed.
Good morning Casey the Iver Tool was definitely a good investment because in sketchy spots it saves you time which is a benefit less time means safety for you dealing with foolish people who don't slow down and move over
Wow impressive reversing there Casey!!! 👍🏻
That's cool.. I didn't even know Iver Tools were even a thing. I saw them in other videos but I just figured they were random parts for towing.. lol
Thanks for the video
Omg I laughed so hard with yall . Thank you so very much for that. We are really going through it and I have been so stressed. Literally my electric will be cut off at any time, no money for Christmas or food and every organization I reached out to had already allocated all their funds for the month. But it's ok we are alive and have each other. God is good.❤
I'm glad you got a new helper. After David went to college you definitely needed a hand getting things done.
You have great skills.
MERRY Christmas to you and your family! Not to forget your buddy. Merry Christmas!
Looking forward to your video on your chain system and then a snow & ice recovery
Me too! Maybe one day this winter it will actually snow so I can finish that video
That is a great idea. Turns the tow points into a lever extension.
Casey, loved all the information I drove semi for 29 years, that rig you hauled made it appear like you were driving a small train 😮 loved it.
This was really interesting. I never even heard of an Iver tool. Thank You.
so nice seeing such a beautiful clear blue sky and sun shining in december, I'm from northern finland and this time of year we get maybe around 4 hours of daylight and that's usually overcast, I'd say that affects your work mood quite a bit when you start in pitch black darkness and you day in pitch black darkness
Stud driving, humble as well. Good combo
Nice system. The front points on the cross member is similar to what we use in the army. Every vehicle has the big D shaped tow point on the front and back to winch from or lift from. We have lift tow adaptors that hook straight to them rather than the having the fork adaptors. So much simpler and safer system then using forks or chain adaptors
Wow that's pretty slick! Would have loved that when I was towing heavy for the new cascadias that the bumper is 4" off the ground.
"I never said I was good at this..." clearly no longer applies.
Amazing backing Mr. LaDelle!
Do you know how many people are talking to Zack Lift about the rig you have and what to purchase one for there truck? I know of one UA-camr, Gentry and Sons, that's talked about it.
Every day is a learning day. Thanks Casey.
That sure works great. I'm sure once you start towing a lot more aerodynamic trucks it's going to pay off in just potential body damage.
We have a company over here in the upper Midwest called safe-t-pull that makes recovery points and hitches for all of the trucks and tractors that get stuck in the field during harvest season.
I’ve towed quite a few low aero dynamic trucks and it’s a massive help with those
@@CaseyLaDelle Plus, we don't want you ripping any plastic or tearing any plastic while you crawl underneath those trucks 🤢
Nice explanation.
I like watching your channel as you are very good at teaching and showing your skills. I am glad that you are starting to get back into the big heavy towing. No bad words in this one so I can let the grand kids watch it tomorrow.
I really like how you explain all of the equipment that you use. While I am somewhat familiar towing, a lot of new stuff has come out since I helped my dad tow vehicles on occasion. Thanks Casey! And I want to wish you your lovely wife and the precious Riley a very merry Christmas and happy new year!
Excellent explanation - thanks for making it simple for those if us that are not tow truck operators! Very cool to learn a bit about towing heavy trucks and equipment
ALWAYS LEARN SOMETHING NEW ON YOUR CHANNEL.
Thank you for sharing that knowledge Casey. Very cool!
Very cool, Casey.
heck, Casey, this makes me want to be a tow driver! The last time I operated a tow truck, we were still using slings!
Merry Christmas Casey. Awesome Job
"Never said I was good at that". Well, ya are. Thanks for the video.
Casey is a show off backing up. Nice job.
Thanks for the lesson. It was very informative and explained easily. Happy Holidays!
Getting your use from that Towkit, no dust under it, thumbs up, great video
Good job guys and a very Merry and blessed Christmas ⛄🎁
Great content guys 👏 thanks for sharing an Happy Holidays 🎄.
Thank you for the info.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Love your videos and what you do.
You sure do have that unit well equipped!
Merry christmas❤❤❤❤ love your videos!! Can't wait for the track jeep action
Great job.
Great job. Thank you 😊
Another excellent video. Thank you very much.
HEY! Gooood morning Casey!
mornin' sweetie!
👋 Goooood morning! @@JanelleVocate-Ames
I don't think a lot of people realize what they just watched when Casey backed up the truck and trailer. Imagine you are backing up your camper and it has your fishing boat attached to the back of your camper being pulled by your truck. It is truly an artform.
And that is a fact! Great example btw.
Holy crap . . . what an investment . . . know it's none of our business, but be nice to know what heavy towing rigs costs. Great video, cheers.
Full trucks are in the half $mil. and up depending on the style.
I've seen the European Scania wreckers use that tool a whole lot.
Great video
Merry Christmas Casey!
Iver has made a great notch in towing manufacturing that even the larger manufacturers have not thought about?
Merry Christmas Casey and family
Well organised.
nice kit now you only have to go under the truck to remove the Propshaft, (drive LIne ) once ,which will be a little bit safer. Merry Christmas and Happy Newyear to all ,thank you
You get all the bestest tools Casey!
Great Video on explaining what and why you bought the tools for. LSD! LABOR SAVING DEVICES! Casey. What you buy and why you buy it is to make things easier for yourself. Your Not wasting precious time money on Frivolous things. For me, explanation not needed, but it was nice. Great video Casey and Ethan. 🤙😎🎄
Would be interisted to see the differance in steer axle weight when lifting using the tow points vs the axle. I wonder how much of a differance it makes. Could definitely helpt in snow and ice
Can't wait for some snow recoveries... If we ever get enough. Here in 'sconsin we're looking at 50s for Christmas, we had 40s for Thanksgiving, and 30s for Halloween... Frigging backwards world we live in ain't it?!?!
Same. Terrible snow year
Damn man your back up game is crazy 😂 I'm a good driver but thats impressive. You have some cool gear I haven't seen before.
I like the idea of the Iver tool, my only concern i have seen so far is the safety chain hookup, i was always told not to install safety chains at the same place as you pick up the truck, as if the main hookup fail the safety chains are useless. In that case if the pin in the tow hook slot failed, the safety chains have 0 effects.
thanks for sharing !
I’ve had that same thought, but this is how the manufacturer designed it to be hooked up
Iver (wich by the way is the name of the inventor, Iver Årvåg) is a very serious Swedish heavy wrecker company owner who build heavy wreckers to his company and to customers.
He's specialized on the really big and difficult jobs.
I know him personally and if he have built something I would without a doubt trust My life on it.
You are very good at what you do, 😍
Awesome backing skill for sure.
Love the video
Iver tool sometimes known as a tow pin which most drivers don't keep in their trucks hoping they never need a tow. Or they have those big bumpers that are put in the tow pin spot! Great explanation Casey!
Wow, a very handy piece of kit....and lets face it, we all like easier huh? And let me take this opportunity to wish you, Casey< and your family and loved ones, a very Merry Xmas, and a prosperous New Year from way down here in very hot Perth, Western Australia....currently 38C (100F).....
Your really set up good for what you do ,you should be proud of yourself and what you've accomplished., Great job.,💯🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Given the speed to hook/unhook with the Iver Tool, not long before it pays for itself as time saved means more jobs! Great explanation and driving skill!
That over tool I slick. Impressive reverse skills.
Iver tool is slick. Auto correct sucks.
Great video thank you!
I like the way that you shrug off the ease of reversing a double pivot. Most ppl have no idea how to do 1, let alone 2 (me included, and Ive been a heavy rig operator for 40 years). I was thinking that you have 1 of the pivots locked off somehow, but I know u didnt. Nice job Casey. Just 1 hiccup was the safety chain joined to that system. If that system failed, u would have no safety backup.
I'm not an expert, but I know in Europe we have a similar system that will even steer along with the tow truck. That means they can leave the truck they're towing completely on the ground. No extra weight or height. They only need to lift up to back, because then the steering doesn't work correctly. It's very cool!
You can flat tow with this as well
I guess that makes sense! Would you have to lock the steering in that case (as I've seen you do when towing backwards), or does the system take care of that? How do you decide whether to lift it or flat tow?
@@Timooooooooooooooo no, you leave the steering free to follow along
@@user-ix4dl1dy7q nope, nothing like this for motorhomes. But I won’t tow most of that bigger ones anyways
