@blackyle3 Yeah, the timing was funny. The deaths were due to a bug on that boss where party members are randomly rendered "out of line of sight" and disconnected.
The targer change issue is an easy adjustment. Its called mouse over macro and a Ui addon like grid. U keep target on the boss or add for smite and when u see the tank getting low use ur mouse over macro macro thats set up to pennance or heal and cast it, that way u dont need to worry about clicking from target to tank every time they need a dedicated heal.
I do Holy Fire, Smite, Penance/ Holy Fire, Smite. Penace. It works very good and you throw in a Flash or Greater Heal with Inner Focus enabled. Do that 4 times and you have archangel. You will have the tank topped off the whole time. If you have to, you can also throw in a bubble.

@viagraisfornoobs Unfortunately, in the time since this video has been made, the smite healing spec has been nerfed over and over until it is laughably useless for anything. Makes you wonder why they give you an 18% smite hit glyph if they don't intend for you to use it. I'm glad I at least documented it while it didn't suck.
Some people were angry/confused with the whole idea of having to smite to get angel, but think of it this way. Your a priest, but speced as discipline, meaning your not purely heals like holy is but your not all damage like shadow. So you have to do a little bit if both. You have to hurt to heal ;) I like it.
the best thing would be focus macros for smite on boss's or target macros for penance depending on what your doing. a targetlasttarget or target focus things like that would make this better but still using non-macro'd versions as well its something to play with but seems to be a fun new mechanic.
imo that seems bloody awesome for us disc priests. LOOK AT ALL THOSE HEALZ!. so your pretty much saying say in a 25m raid, every single person that is in range it will heal? its not limited by any amount? looks similar to holy light.
I have to say the Smite healing is still effective on trash mobs. Boss pulls can't really do it..entirely. Standard opening for me is renew tank, shield tank, start smiting the targettarget (keep in mind I only have to do 1 every 15secs or so). I macro'd smite to always do target target so i can keep tank as focus.When arch angel procs i'll use it and hit prayer of healing and throw it on the group, whether they need it or not and keep doing it. Boss healing heal, greater heal, shield renew all.

Attonment healing like that in the instance was obviously a HUGE bug, in your second video the attonment not healing all the time and changed to a "proc". That is also a bug, its also present on live as I found out after smite spam healing on BQL, 1 week it would work, the next it didnt and now it does again. Beta is beta.... etc etc

Ok, This is a joke that me and my friends made up. We thought that because there are priests in the game, what would happen if you put rabbis? Every time a rabbi would get hit, he would say "OY!"
Okay, smite healing is good, It's the best single target heal as a mater of fact. But it's not gonna cover all of your problems. ATM archangel restores 1% of mana per proc, and is a laughable 5% mana now. If your geared, it's still fine though because the mana saved between smite procs and spirit will keep you from OOM. If your entire party is taking massive damage then THAT is when you will pop archangle for AoE. Also keep sheilds up and keep POM up. Don't be afraid to use POH a few times.
haha. would have been nice if you actually healed the group in Tol. but you proved on how good that is. and thankfully early in your video you mentioned actually having to heal the rest. wishing you actually did that tho
Lucky i'm used to swap from enemy to friendly targets, since i played pally healer alot. And i had to use judgement of light to improve my healing. Thx for this vid will help alot (i hope) :P
I have a shaman and druid and a priest. I have to say I am QQ if this is not a glitch, LB and wrath needs to freakin' aoe heal -_- But this HAS to be a glitch...
imo the worst what blizz ever could do. Healing doesnt mean to deal dmg. They failed so hard on cata with the disci. I stil play mine, but in regular way with normal shield/heal combo. And this is not a offence 2 your vid. Just my opinion about this way of healing
@tgnWorldOfWarcraft erm wtf u talking about? u know right that I do 12.5k dps as disc with 5.9k gs priest... This dude has no clue what to do, spec is failcake, he aint using right rotations or anything. If u just spam 1 spell, dont expect miracles.

I'm disappointed that the spec was nerfed so much. I like the idea of a fresh way of healing and this seemed to be something interesting.
Looks like Disc priests are gonna have even more fun in PvP now

Glyph of Smite: Your Smite spell does an additional 20% damage against targets inflicted by Holy Fire.

Any healing addon (healbot) will be easy for smite healing. All you have to do is put smite as 1 on your keyboard and set healbot up as usual.

you are supposed to heal using atonement only on trash pulls after have shielded the tank
