    Thanks for the statistics. Scan. Blind spot. Clearing turns. Communications. Lights. Avoid complacency.
    Good job on scanning techniques. Emphasize that we have to stop head movement to scan each segment. Head stop just an instant is critical to actually seeing what is in that segment.
    In 17,000 hours in Army helicopters, piston airplane crop dusters, and small Cessnas on pipelines, I had the tremendous advantage of being lower and operating differently from normal traffic. Army regs had us deconflict, Part 137 puts Ag out of traffic as much as practicable, and my 200' AGL waiver allowed me to see everyone on a sky background rather than through ground clutter. While not available to normal traffic, consider the advantages. In all those jobs, I was able to avoid (almost completely) ever landing in front of faster traffic. I always gave way and landed last at uncontrolled airports. Notice how tower works us at controlled airports.
