Fantastic video as always Drew, really enjoyed this one. I spent many, many a long summer evening around bumble hole and the the netherton tunnel with old friends about 15 years or so ago. I've long moved away from the black country but I always enjoy seeing these videos as they're not only a great watch and very informative but they reignite so many nice memories and nostalgia
Thanks bud appreciate that glad you enjoyed this one I'll be back out soon for part 3 all the way to hawne basin with more history and stuff can't wait. So interesting looking back at the canals and old photos
I've lived in Old Hill all my life. It always seems to get called Cradley Heath by a lot of people although they are separate places, so glad to hear you mention Old Hill. Depending on where I get on the canal - Powke Lane or near the Aldi. it's great having it so close and it's great to ride my bike along
I always call it oldhill I'll do a full video on the history next week if weather is good covering the industry and more down the old hill section of canal . I used to live windmill end at a young age then moved to Halesowen on the Stourbridge road
My house is by the new builds so appreciate the old photos you put up I would have been able to see the building from my back garden!! Bumble hole is a great spot to walk the dog once it gets a bit warmer and the mud hardens. It’s sad to say but I think the tunnels days are numbered before it’s closed, think the repair cost will outweigh keeping it open, hopefully they will keep it open to boats and not cap it off each end.
Thanks bud amazing to see the old photos of what the canal looked like I'll be doing part 3 during mid next week . Love the bumble hole one my local favourite places to visit . I can't seeing them repairing the tunnel so I reckon they will block public access and make it boat only
Thanks bud I can imagine it's nice to walk out at a short distance to the canal I would love that , used to live in windmill end bit at a young age before moving to Halesowen . Oh and merry hell you got that right 🤣🤣
I cycled to Birmingham once along the canal but I don't like cycling through Netherton Tunnel so when I rode back, I got off by Sandwell & Dudley Station and came back on the roads
I took my drone over the Engine House a couple of times and got some photos. Although I want to try and go back and get some more. I might have put some video on my UA-cam channel
Great footage mate. I am planning to walk Netherton Tunnel this spring having last walked it in the late 1970s. Can you walk both sides and from either end? It looks like one footway is gated off. What would you recommend? I now live in the south east so difficult to check! Thank you.
Hi bud only one end is walkable the left side is all fenced off but you can get inside it from the tividale end as there's no fencing at the bottom half . I would walk the right open side take some decent footwear and a nice torch it's a good walk and takes 40 minutes to reach the other end . Enjoy if go im also planning a walk soon down there
So much local history, great vlog as always 👍
Thank you glad you enjoyed 😁📸
Great video Drew 👍👏

I enjoyed a nice coffee at the Bumble Hole cafe on my visit, plus a nice cake thing.
Lovely cafe there bud I would love to go back for a nice coffee doing part 3 soon to hawne basin so might pop in if its open 😁
Have they started taking card payments yet?
