It doesn’t even make sense from a time travel retcon perspective - why does Jimmy not becoming the troll hunter make things better? It just looks like he’s throwing literally everyone under the bus because he… what, is incapable of critical thought or something?
The horrid ending of this movie is why I decided to take writing seriously. I had made a rewrite of this movie, and I have never had more closure in my life.

They don't, the movie ends with Toby getting it, for some reason. I guess the only reason the amulet picked Jim in the original timeline was because he was the first one to pick it up.

Another thing that always irritated me is that in promotion for the film, I heard that they hinted that Jim's father would appear in the film but that NEVER happened! at least, he was mentioned ONCE by Barbara and forgotten, AND THAT WAS JUST AFTER STRICLER'S DEATH!!! Also, they said that originally the ending would be the characters graduating from school and having a happy ending for everyone, but they changed it because they thought that would be too "anti-climactic". I'm sorry, but I personally would prefer an anti-climactic ending than THIS!

I would NOT say it's that bad. Not great, sure, but there was effort behind this show unlike Nine Realms, which was the most souless cashgrab I have ever seen. No matter what you think of the ending of this series, you can see effort in it at least!
What makes the movie so confusing is that it starts with Blinkous reading a book retelling the story of the movie like a historical event, if it ends in a time travel shenanigan, then how. The. Fuck. Does he know what happened and has a book about it? Is this movie some sort of sick joke?

Some fans use this for the "Wizards is the open ending for Tales of Arcadia, Rise of the Titans is just Blinky's fanfic" theory. Although it's less of a theory, and more just something some of us fans choose to believe instead of considering the movie to be canon... since, really, that would make so much sense. The opening of the film, the mpreg thing especially, the way some characters are written to not be acting like they actually would (Aja is a great example). All the unnecessary angst and deaths, the canon rewrite. If this was Blinky's fanfiction, perhaps one that's predicting what will happen when the Arcane Order actually returns, it would all make sense.
3:56 Yes! Douxie was sidelined so hard for no reason in this film when hes technically the strongest character of the group and they just do nothing with him! Hes still one of my favourite characters ever to this day and they did him so dirty i will never forgive them for this!
Series finales are always important, especially when it comes to serialized shows. You can’t please everyone, but you have to think really long and hard about how your show is going to end. This is how everyone is going to remember you and the last time they’ll ever see your characters. The Trollhunters movie is a textbook example of why you have to take finales and your writing seriously, especially since it could very well ruin the reputation of your show and people’s perception of how much you really care about your work.
By my experience each part of a story have specific pitfalls where you can fuck it up. If you get everything right the finale should be easy to nail. Trollhunters did not did everything right, the series was too in love with it's edgyness and compromise solutions. So in the end they just dailed it to 11 and we got that movie.
The movie has the same writer as Green Lantern (the movie with Ryan Reynolds) and Percy Jackson : Sea of Monsters, Marc Guggenheim. That explains a lot, right ?
Can I also say!! The fact that suddenly, just bc Toby got to the amulet before Jim, it’s suddenly saying Toby’s name, that makes it feel like the amulet *isnt* picking destined people who it thinks will succeed in saving the world, but just deciding its first come first serve- Like, at least in the episode it made sense, Jim didn’t answer the call so it chose someone new and in doing such chose the brave, although hardheaded and arrogant, son of the previous holder. Someone who clearly had the potential. FOR THIS IT LEGIT HAS NO REASON!!
Another thing I didn’t like about the ending is that Jim was deemed worthy enough to become the troll hunter for the amulet, it wasn’t a first come first served situation, early in the series Toby was extremely irresponsible and definitely not worthy of the amulet
It's like they completely forgot about the episode is season 1 of Trollhunters where Jim wishes he naver became Trollhunter and basically relived his life without taking tye amulet. It ends with the world being destroyed by Gunmar. Uncar the Unfortunate gives this lesson to Jim that if anyone else became trollhunter the world dies.
On finales retroactively ruining the show, I think for me Star Vs was also a big one. Basically the protagonist winds up doing the thing one of the Main Villains was killed off for *trying* to do. Also Jim rewinding time and undoing everything is what Nox, the main villain in the first season of Wakfu wanted to do (and he have pretty good reasons for it). It feels very tonally inept for a protagonist to have that kind of drive and that being portrayed as a good thing.
To be fair if all went to plan, all the bad shit Nox did to do so would have been undone. Nox's plan was almost flawless...............he just vastly underestimated how much energy the spell would take.
For me, it was the Ducktales Reboot. I really think Webby being a clone of Scrooge really doesn’t work, and the fact Gargoyles gets a cameo and not an episode dedicated to it just like with the Darkwing Duck Episodes really hurted the finale for me.

That is a failing on modern toons. Some people just don't understand the "it's ok when the hero do it" never goes down well, specifically if it's something that would cause problems to everyone else.
Trollhunters was for the longest time one of my favourite TV shows of all time (it's up there with Avatar The Last Airbender and Arcane for me) I've only watched ROTT once but the ending was such a middle finger to fans and left such a bad taste in my mouth, that I stopped watching the TOA series for years and only just recently started rewatching it again and renewed my love for the series Also to this day I have ZERO idea what the hell the writers were smoking to come up with mpreg Steve, like it is genuinely one of the most uncomfortable things I've seen in a film
The worst part in my opinion is the fact that throughout the ENTIRETY of the Trollhunter's series, they make a huge deal about how "the amulet chose you" and that Jim NEEDED to be the Trollhunter... But then I guess ANY human would suffice. Jim just shirks off the responsibility and forces Toby to go through the crap he did instead. Even though HE STILL REMEMBERED EVERYTHING! He could have done a New Game+ speedrun and stopped literally everything before it ever happened. But instead of doing the _smart_ thing, he decided to let Toby become the Trollhunter. My personal headcanon is that Toby finds the amulet, and just gives it to Jim and he becomes the Trollhunter again anyway. Its the only thing that gives me peace of mind.
It’s funny because I heard that the creator of trollhunters actually wanted the ending to be the main characters leaving and going to college, but the team decided against it and made it this lump of garbage 😭 So technically it’s not canon if you think about it, just to make the trollhunter fans like us feel better
I hate how the writers just glossed over Douxie losing Archie (his familiar and best friend for over 900 years, he should be more emotional than he was in the movie) and how the movie focuses on Jim at the expense of everyone else(yeah he's an important character, but everyone deserved a proper send-off after three shows of build-up and that didn't happen)
As one of the five Steve Fans to exist out there, THE MPREG PLOTLINE MADE ME SCREAM IN PAIN. (Also I hate how the entire concept of the joke is: "hahaha pregnant people funny and emotional LOL")

The Trollhunters franchise is something I hold VERY close to my heart and seeing the movie end the way it did was basically like "remember when we said if Jim wasn't chosen the world wouldn't make sense well screw that none of it mattered"
For me, Rise of the Titans is the Anti-Endgame. While Endgame had its flaws, it not only managed to have one of the greatest final battle in fiction, but also managed to be narratively and thematically conclusive.
I heard a headcanon that the movie is just Blinky's crack fic I now choose to believe that. (also a character worse than Jun? I can't wait to hear this)
I've always believed it was a DND session between the group. DM accidentally killed a really someone and just, redid the whole campaign cause everyone was angry. lmao
I don't know why they decided in that ending, but I kinda see a connection why it led to that. When Jim let Toby be the Trollhunter, Jim was saying the quote "Destiny is a Gift" and when Toby died he said "It’s okay, Jimbo. I didn’t think. I became." I think the writers wanted Toby to be next Trollhunter even with the quote saying "Don't think. Become." away for him to be like Jim of how Jim started out as the Trollhunter.
I don’t watch trollhunters but I have heard what happened in the end of this movie. Going back in time like that is NEVER a good option for a story imo, especially a popular one.
Every time any show's does that, I can't help but think about Wakfu, and how Nox... well, that's spoilers, but regardless. It's funny how a French Anime nailed this story plot point better than most other shows.
I was really hoping that Jim was going to go back to the fight in the subway at the beginning, especially since it would still have made sense that he would still be under the effect of the grave sand. And yes, I understand that there's a VERY good reason for Jim to be under the effect of the grave sand, there's nothing anybody at Netflix can do about it, but even so!

Everything was so PERFECTLY SUPER. Then the movie ended with time travel instead of them LIVING with their losses. You could have had an epic movie end an epic franchise.

I hate it when a series finale makes the whole show unwatchable. The worst cases I've seen are Lost, Game of Thrones and Agents of SHIELD, but there might be worst cases out there.
I've never seen Lost, but I'm still curious about it even woth the ending. And for Agents of Shield, i stopped watching at Season 4. I thought it was a good stopping point. Season 4 was so good!

Let's just say that the creator of Lost, JJ Abrahams, created intrigue in the series by asking interesting questions and presenting compelling misteries... all without thinking of the answers first, so he had to improvise the end and it didn't work. As for AOS, it started wonderfully connected to the MCU, but a lack of comunication made the final season totally incompatible with the blip and its consequences. It can however still be multiversally canonical.
From what I researched the person who wrote the screen play for 3 below and the person who wrote wizards WERE NOT EVEN ON THE WRITING TEAM FOR THE MOVIE! they got rid of THREE of their writers for trollhunters in creation of this movie and that's most likely why it failed. Poor communication and writers can ruin everything.
The ending to this movie reminds me so much of the ending to mass effect 3. In a game franchise where your difficult decisions effect the gameplay and the direction the story goes, the ending just lets you choose what ending you want which completely makes all those tough choices in the previous games seem worthless. I just hate endings that make the entire story seem pointless and it’s one of the worse ways you can end a long running story
I’ve never seen a franchise throw away six years worth worldbuilding and character development so easily. It’s truly troubling that the writers took this route, and with no sequel announcements 2 years later the series is truly tainted with this ending

The ending of the movie made no sense to me at all. How many times have we seen or have been shown that the amulet CHOSE Jim. He was destined for it in any case not Tobias.
This movie pissed me off so much I wrote a whole ass essay on it in two days. I had binged the entire show for several days to prepare for the film's release only to be met with that. 5 years of development absolutely wasted, what is the point of following the timeline where they lose. What made it worse was how the writers backpedalled the second they started getting criticism, they said things like 'don't worry they'll all get to be alive and they'll get their memories of the original timeline back', cool, cool, cool. Then what was the point of erasing it in the first place? At the very least they could have sent the entire 9th configuration back, that way everyone has their memories and we don't lose the character development. But nooooooo, Jim gets shot in the head and replaced with a new character, everyone else gets erased and Jim probably won't be able to actually change much due to no longer being the trollhunter and knowing how badly that would mess up everything. What an absolute disappointment I can't believe this got through to the final product.
RAAAHHHH, I have been reawakened to how incredibly disappointing the finale was. Partially it’s because Netflix writers thought it would be a good idea to do this ending again with another show we will not talk about that I enjoyed very much.
I refuse to believe that this film was made by Guillermo Del Toro, as aside from the property belonging to him, this film has no semblence of his usual writing style. If anything, he had to have been a similar situation to "Brightburn," where the most popular name within the advertising was only in a producer role and had little to no involvement in the writing. On an unrealted note, I'm now currently curious to hear about this "character worse than June from 'The Nine Realms'."
Honestly my biggest defense for shows written for kids is that often times the writing has to go on a line that appeals to EVERYONE which means they have to balance some level of maturity for the parents who are going to watch alongside their kids but then, yeah, the movie really left a sour taste in my mouth.
They spent season after season building up the universe in the characters to just throw them all away in one go like what a disrespect to anyone who had any investment in the show or the characters that came along with it like all the choices in relationships that Jim has built over the course of the years he's been a troll Hunter and just completely thrown out the window.
I think Toby should have stayed dead, because his was the most heroic, impactful death. Especially after he went through the movie feeling like he didn't really contribute much to the team. The Steve pregnancy was an abomination that should never have seen the light of day. As much as I didn't really care for Steve either, I had to admit he had a character arc going from season 1 of Trollhunters to the end of Wizards, and I legit wanted to see him standing shoulder to shoulder with all the others as a modern day knight of Camelot in magical/Acharidian armour. Instead we got this weird pointless pregnancy plot point which, as a med student back when I watched it, made even less sense to me because of how much it doesn't work physiologically. I didn't get the joke, it was gross, and all it did was sideline Steve. I was kinda hoping we'd get to see a master/apprentice thing between Douxie and Claire, culminating in Claire getting her own staff, tied in with the forging of the new amulet, for which (to quote Merlin), "two master wizards are required." For the number of stories and protagonists we were tying together with this one, I really wish it wasn't just about the one guy whose story we already told over 3 seasons and who before RotT was already fully actualized as a leader and a hero. I get that a lot of it was probably budget constraints and possible studio interference, and there are a lot of moving parts to this, but I have a hard time imagining that something this messy was Guillermo Del Toro's vision for the conclusion of the Tales of Arcadia.
I love TOA, it was my hyperfixtion for like 3 years, and the ending was so disaponting. I tried to cope with it telling myself it wasn't that bad but, lets be real, in the back of my mind I knew there was no saving it
This entire movie, especially the ending, completely spot in the face of what made the other three shows so awesome! What a literal waste of time. But now that you've talked about the bad part of this saga, why not make another video about the good stuff? I really loved the original Trollhunters. When I first saw the trailers, I thought the story seemed a little bit bland, very 'been there, done that'. But after watching it, I was completely HOOKED! It's the best out of all three shows, and I still love it to this day. And I hope to hear more about it from you.
When I watched this movie, I tried to stay positive throughout. I like to like things, and for most of the film, I was able to see past its flaws and enjoy myself. Even when Jim decided to pull a time travel fix-it I thought, "He's doing this for the greater good. He's willingly going through all the pain, training, and hardship. He's going to experience sacrificing his humanity again. All to make a better timeline." Then he gave the amulet to Toby, and all that meant nothing. All I could think now was, "Wow, remember when Jim almost died to a jealous troll and only survived because of his slim build and quick thinking like a day into his training as the Trollhunter. No? Well you certainly will after Toby gets his head ripped off and you have to steal the amulet, then go through the entire timeline without him, struggling desparately to keep things on track from a much worse starting point! All so you can go back again and not give away the amulet like an idiot this time!" So yeah, dumbest time travel mistake of all time. TL;DR: Toby dies instantly as the Trollhunder so giving him the abulet makes the time travel about as useful as the -12 dollar bill. PS: Would love to see a vid on the worst character ever! This is the first video from this channel I've seen(I think) and you're clearly very good at it.
Troll hunters was literally the back bone of my childhood joy and when I watched the final scene I cried. Not at my favourite character dying- AT THEM DESTROYING THE WHOLE FRANCHISE !!!!
There was an entire episode in season 2 (I think it was season 2) of trollhunters that made a point of proving why Jim was chosen and that things were all meant to go that way, wtf why that just do a 180 and be like yea it's fine let someone else do it

The opening of the film, the mpreg thing especially, the way some characters are written to not be acting like they actually would (Aja is a great example). All the unnecessary angst and deaths, the canon rewrite. If this was Blinky's fanfiction, perhaps one that's predicting what will happen when the Arcane Order actually returns, it would all make sense.

Series finales are always important, especially when it comes to serialized shows. You can’t please everyone, but you have to think really long and hard about how your show is going to end. This is how everyone is going to remember you and the last time they’ll ever see your characters. The Trollhunters movie is a textbook example of why you have to take finales and your writing seriously, especially since it could very well ruin the reputation of your show and people’s perception of how much you really care about your work.
By my experience each part of a story have specific pitfalls where you can fuck it up. If you get everything right the finale should be easy to nail.
Trollhunters did not did everything right, the series was too in love with it's edgyness and compromise solutions. So in the end they just dailed it to 11 and we got that movie.
And that's why after I think 12 years Danny phantom got a proper ending.... In the form of a comic but it was still better than what we got

The fact that suddenly, just bc Toby got to the amulet before Jim, it’s suddenly saying Toby’s name, that makes it feel like the amulet *isnt* picking destined people who it thinks will succeed in saving the world, but just deciding its first come first serve-
Like, at least in the episode it made sense, Jim didn’t answer the call so it chose someone new and in doing such chose the brave, although hardheaded and arrogant, son of the previous holder. Someone who clearly had the potential.

Another thing I didn’t like about the ending is that Jim was deemed worthy enough to become the troll hunter for the amulet, it wasn’t a first come first served situation, early in the series Toby was extremely irresponsible and definitely not worthy of the amulet
It's like they completely forgot about the episode is season 1 of Trollhunters where Jim wishes he naver became Trollhunter and basically relived his life without taking tye amulet. It ends with the world being destroyed by Gunmar. Uncar the Unfortunate gives this lesson to Jim that if anyone else became trollhunter the world dies.
On finales retroactively ruining the show, I think for me Star Vs was also a big one. Basically the protagonist winds up doing the thing one of the Main Villains was killed off for *trying* to do.
Also Jim rewinding time and undoing everything is what Nox, the main villain in the first season of Wakfu wanted to do (and he have pretty good reasons for it). It feels very tonally inept for a protagonist to have that kind of drive and that being portrayed as a good thing.
To be fair if all went to plan, all the bad shit Nox did to do so would have been undone.
Nox's plan was almost flawless...............he just vastly underestimated how much energy the spell would take.
For me, it was the Ducktales Reboot. I really think Webby being a clone of Scrooge really doesn’t work, and the fact Gargoyles gets a cameo and not an episode dedicated to it just like with the Darkwing Duck Episodes really hurted the finale for me.
Wakfu is underrated. But yes, time travel is always unpredictable and dangerous, as if you make one mistake, your whole timeline ceases to exist.

That is a failing on modern toons. Some people just don't understand the "it's ok when the hero do it" never goes down well, specifically if it's something that would cause problems to everyone else.

Trollhunters was for the longest time one of my favourite TV shows of all time (it's up there with Avatar The Last Airbender and Arcane for me) I've only watched ROTT once but the ending was such a middle finger to fans and left such a bad taste in my mouth, that I stopped watching the TOA series for years and only just recently started rewatching it again and renewed my love for the series
Also to this day I have ZERO idea what the hell the writers were smoking to come up with mpreg Steve, like it is genuinely one of the most uncomfortable things I've seen in a film

The worst part in my opinion is the fact that throughout the ENTIRETY of the Trollhunter's series, they make a huge deal about how "the amulet chose you" and that Jim NEEDED to be the Trollhunter... But then I guess ANY human would suffice. Jim just shirks off the responsibility and forces Toby to go through the crap he did instead.
Even though HE STILL REMEMBERED EVERYTHING! He could have done a New Game+ speedrun and stopped literally everything before it ever happened. But instead of doing the _smart_ thing, he decided to let Toby become the Trollhunter.
My personal headcanon is that Toby finds the amulet, and just gives it to Jim and he becomes the Trollhunter again anyway. Its the only thing that gives me peace of mind.

For me, Rise of the Titans is the Anti-Endgame.
While Endgame had its flaws, it not only managed to have one of the greatest final battle in fiction, but also managed to be narratively and thematically conclusive.

I don't know why they decided in that ending, but I kinda see a connection why it led to that. When Jim let Toby be the Trollhunter, Jim was saying the quote "Destiny is a Gift" and when Toby died he said "It’s okay, Jimbo. I didn’t think. I became." I think the writers wanted Toby to be next Trollhunter even with the quote saying "Don't think. Become." away for him to be like Jim of how Jim started out as the Trollhunter.

I hate it when a series finale makes the whole show unwatchable. The worst cases I've seen are Lost, Game of Thrones and Agents of SHIELD, but there might be worst cases out there.
Technichally it made three shows unwatchable which is honestly way worse.

Let's just say that the creator of Lost, JJ Abrahams, created intrigue in the series by asking interesting questions and presenting compelling misteries... all without thinking of the answers first, so he had to improvise the end and it didn't work.
As for AOS, it started wonderfully connected to the MCU, but a lack of comunication made the final season totally incompatible with the blip and its consequences. It can however still be multiversally canonical.
From what I researched the person who wrote the screen play for 3 below and the person who wrote wizards WERE NOT EVEN ON THE WRITING TEAM FOR THE MOVIE! they got rid of THREE of their writers for trollhunters in creation of this movie and that's most likely why it failed. Poor communication and writers can ruin everything.
The ending to this movie reminds me so much of the ending to mass effect 3. In a game franchise where your difficult decisions effect the gameplay and the direction the story goes, the ending just lets you choose what ending you want which completely makes all those tough choices in the previous games seem worthless. I just hate endings that make the entire story seem pointless and it’s one of the worse ways you can end a long running story

The ending of the movie made no sense to me at all. How many times have we seen or have been shown that the amulet CHOSE Jim. He was destined for it in any case not Tobias.
This movie pissed me off so much I wrote a whole ass essay on it in two days. I had binged the entire show for several days to prepare for the film's release only to be met with that. 5 years of development absolutely wasted, what is the point of following the timeline where they lose. What made it worse was how the writers backpedalled the second they started getting criticism, they said things like 'don't worry they'll all get to be alive and they'll get their memories of the original timeline back', cool, cool, cool. Then what was the point of erasing it in the first place? At the very least they could have sent the entire 9th configuration back, that way everyone has their memories and we don't lose the character development. But nooooooo, Jim gets shot in the head and replaced with a new character, everyone else gets erased and Jim probably won't be able to actually change much due to no longer being the trollhunter and knowing how badly that would mess up everything. What an absolute disappointment I can't believe this got through to the final product.

RAAAHHHH, I have been reawakened to how incredibly disappointing the finale was. Partially it’s because Netflix writers thought it would be a good idea to do this ending again with another show we will not talk about that I enjoyed very much.
I refuse to believe that this film was made by Guillermo Del Toro, as aside from the property belonging to him, this film has no semblence of his usual writing style. If anything, he had to have been a similar situation to "Brightburn," where the most popular name within the advertising was only in a producer role and had little to no involvement in the writing.
On an unrealted note, I'm now currently curious to hear about this "character worse than June from 'The Nine Realms'."

Honestly my biggest defense for shows written for kids is that often times the writing has to go on a line that appeals to EVERYONE which means they have to balance some level of maturity for the parents who are going to watch alongside their kids but then, yeah, the movie really left a sour taste in my mouth.
They spent season after season building up the universe in the characters to just throw them all away in one go like what a disrespect to anyone who had any investment in the show or the characters that came along with it like all the choices in relationships that Jim has built over the course of the years he's been a troll Hunter and just completely thrown out the window.
I feel so sorry for RaisorBlade. 2 franchises He realy liked got ruined.
And this is why I consider the season 3 finale “eternal Knight part 2” from Trollhunters to be the true series finale.

I think Toby should have stayed dead, because his was the most heroic, impactful death. Especially after he went through the movie feeling like he didn't really contribute much to the team.
The Steve pregnancy was an abomination that should never have seen the light of day. As much as I didn't really care for Steve either, I had to admit he had a character arc going from season 1 of Trollhunters to the end of Wizards, and I legit wanted to see him standing shoulder to shoulder with all the others as a modern day knight of Camelot in magical/Acharidian armour. Instead we got this weird pointless pregnancy plot point which, as a med student back when I watched it, made even less sense to me because of how much it doesn't work physiologically. I didn't get the joke, it was gross, and all it did was sideline Steve.
I was kinda hoping we'd get to see a master/apprentice thing between Douxie and Claire, culminating in Claire getting her own staff, tied in with the forging of the new amulet, for which (to quote Merlin), "two master wizards are required."
For the number of stories and protagonists we were tying together with this one, I really wish it wasn't just about the one guy whose story we already told over 3 seasons and who before RotT was already fully actualized as a leader and a hero.
I get that a lot of it was probably budget constraints and possible studio interference, and there are a lot of moving parts to this, but I have a hard time imagining that something this messy was Guillermo Del Toro's vision for the conclusion of the Tales of Arcadia.
I love TOA, it was my hyperfixtion for like 3 years, and the ending was so disaponting. I tried to cope with it telling myself it wasn't that bad but, lets be real, in the back of my mind I knew there was no saving it

This entire movie, especially the ending, completely spot in the face of what made the other three shows so awesome! What a literal waste of time. But now that you've talked about the bad part of this saga, why not make another video about the good stuff? I really loved the original Trollhunters. When I first saw the trailers, I thought the story seemed a little bit bland, very 'been there, done that'. But after watching it, I was completely HOOKED! It's the best out of all three shows, and I still love it to this day. And I hope to hear more about it from you.

I remember watching all three shows and loving them honestlt my childhood but i barely remember this movie i honestly think i just never finished it 💀
When I watched this movie, I tried to stay positive throughout. I like to like things, and for most of the film, I was able to see past its flaws and enjoy myself. Even when Jim decided to pull a time travel fix-it I thought, "He's doing this for the greater good. He's willingly going through all the pain, training, and hardship. He's going to experience sacrificing his humanity again. All to make a better timeline."
Then he gave the amulet to Toby, and all that meant nothing. All I could think now was, "Wow, remember when Jim almost died to a jealous troll and only survived because of his slim build and quick thinking like a day into his training as the Trollhunter. No? Well you certainly will after Toby gets his head ripped off and you have to steal the amulet, then go through the entire timeline without him, struggling desparately to keep things on track from a much worse starting point! All so you can go back again and not give away the amulet like an idiot this time!"
So yeah, dumbest time travel mistake of all time.
TL;DR: Toby dies instantly as the Trollhunder so giving him the abulet makes the time travel about as useful as the -12 dollar bill.
