    This is a great and informative vlog Jessie! I did well with WW, but I came to see how unhealthy it really is. It does not teach good food habits. They teach you to rely on packaged garbage, not Whole Foods, and the culture of the meetings is “how to game the points system” with trash processed manufactured “food”
    I think you are shining an important spotlight on a diabolical business. Good luck on your journey, you are doing a great job!!

      Thank you!! I think WW has a time and place and I'm so glad you had some success. 💜 But I agree with you completely. It's just not necessarily teaching good long-term habits and once you get out of the "I just want to lose weight" phase and want to focus on overall healthy living, it's hard to incorporate WW anymore. I appreciate your support!

    I wish I could repost this video, you sum up the hypocrisy of WW so well. I just cancelled WW for many of the same reasons, I couldn't make sense of the point system. I was confused how my cocojune yogurt was more points than pretzels and snickers bar. I felt so penalized for eating something with real sugar/fat. It was hard okaying myself that unlimited eggs are zero but 3 strips of bacon or beef would take up alot of points. I thought in 2024 they would be more whole food focused but still pushing this low fat/processed food lifestyle.

    WW originally was high protein and very low-carb. No potatoes carrots were monitored also for many years we used to have to check off the good healthy guidelines and they took that all away. I wish they wouldn’t have.

    A few things. With the leaders I had in the past, they all made sure to tell us that whatever you're doing, you have to do with the rest of your life. And that zero points doesn't mean zero calories. The main reason I gained the weight is that they fired 4 of my favorite coaches in the span of a year and a half. Once that happened, I quit and I'm back on it. Thank fully I found a virtual meeting and a physical one that both talk about eating real food and there's life-timers in the meetings. OH! And the points system is 1200 calories.

    • @JessieFritz
      @JessieFritz  Рік тому

      All that makes sense! I’m glad you’ve found it to be helpful. I personally don’t believe anyone should be eating only 1200 calories, but that’s just my opinion!

    One piece of good advice is not to eat mindlessly while watching TV for example
    This is good advice when it comes to eating yummy food that is high in calories
    But I love to find loopholes that work for me
    I enjoy munching away mindlessly on really healthy food like vegetables
    Most of the time I do not eat my vegetables with my main meal but have them separately
    I don't want to spoil my yummy main meal with vegetables that I do not really like
    But the interesting thing is that when I eat vegetables on their own I actually quite enjoy them especially if I allow myself to get a bit hungry
    I even enjoy vegetables that I want to spies like Brussels sprouts
    I munch away on them and other vegetables while I am busy doing something else so that I hardly even notice what I am eating
    I even play mind games with myself by saying things like now don't eat all of that asparagus today will you because I want to save some for tomorrow
    Then I eat all of it and tell myself off off for binging on the asparagus when in fact it is a very healthy choice to binge on
    These little mind games with myself make quite a bit of difference
    I also enjoy not weighing or tracking my fruit at all even though of course fruit does contain quite a bit of sugar
    But it is natural sugar and if eating lots of fruit makes me happy then it is all good

    I was shocked at how much weight watchers promoted and even gave out unhealthy food
    Many years ago at Easter they gave us a bag of treats for Easter and all of them were unhealthy
    Then they gave us a recipe for Mars Bars slice!
    What!
    The trouble with Weight watchers is that it is now a money making corporation and a lot of the Weight watchers products are no more healthy or lower in fat or sugar than other products on the market.
    I did find Weight watchers educational in terms of knowing just how many calories were in particular foods but I don't track them anymore
    It is helpful to know that cherries contain a lot of sugar but only if I am going to eat an enormous amount of them at Christmas time for example
    The only way for me to be healthy and lose weight is to just eat whole foods with no junk food at all
    I eat healthy meat fruit and vegetables and two cups of coffee with milk a day.
    Whenever people give me junk food I either put it straight in the bin or regift it.
    I think the Weight watchers program is good for some people in that they are able to eat a few naughty things every now and then
    But this doesn't work for me because I am like an alcoholic who says I will have only one drink but then drinks until they are drunk
    I have trouble preparing food because of arthritis and so I was really pleased to find that many supermarkets these days sell vegetables that have been already cut up or shredded
    Some of them come in a crunchie plastic bag and I love to sit and binge on these vegetables while watching TV because it feels like I am eating something naughty
    The crunchy bag reminds me of the bags that chips come in
    When making healthy food choices it is really helpful for me not to focus on weight but on health
    At 62 years of age I have many serious chronic health problems and a healthy diet has only been helpful
    I strenuously avoid telling people anything about my healthy eating program
    I am sure that you all know about all the unhelpful comments and sabotage efforts that other people make
    My diet my, weight and my health problems are my business

    I 100% agree. I remember my grandmother used to do weight watchers on and off for decades, and you’re right that they don’t teach you how to sustain weight loss. They would rather you eat a “protein bar” full of sugar, corn syrup (more sugar), fructose (more sugar), dextrose (even more sugar), canola oil, palm oil, and a million preservatives than, God forbid, you eat one cup of yogurt or anything with fat. I don’t judge what people eat and truly believe that you can eat whatever you want, but a program that tells someone that fake stuff out of a box is better for them than real food growing from the earth is lying.

      Yes!!! Exactlyyyyyy my point. If WW is helping someone, that’s amazing! But if you’re looking for long term weight loss / keeping it off and living a normal life where you’re not eating insanely low cal foods the rest of your life, then WW is not the key

    • @MarigabyFr
      @MarigabyFr Рік тому +1

      True. I’m craving a normal way of eating, a sort of freedom that does not lead me to gain weight. I can’t track and count points the rest of my life.

  • @YazWhyNY

    I've never tried WW because I just couldn't wrap my head around points, not to mention I've had experiences getting obsessed with calorie counting so I can only imagine how I would've been with WW. Thanks for sharing your perspective. I don't think anyone (esp those who have been following you and know about your dietary requirements) would get offended!

    • @JessieFritz
      @JessieFritz  Рік тому +2

      Thank you! And definitely… it’s easy to get obsessed with points / calories and eating low cal / low point stuff. Just not sustainable!

    I signed up for WW in OCT 2023. I went online to cancel but they said I will still be billed until Oct 2024. NO WAY OUT of the 12 month contract.

      That sucks! They are really strict with that. I told my customer service rep I had a medical reason I needed to stop and they canceled mine after some back and forth.

    The longer I eat healthy natural food the happier I am to just eat it without a lot of flavouring
    Sometimes I am happy just to have salt and 🌶️

    I love videos like this! I am the kind of person who agrees with every single thing you said … but am doing it anyway 😂. But I am not a great barometer of health when it comes to like my relationship with food and things. I am doing the healthi app because it’s basically ww but I can’t afford ww. I will say though.. I did ww when I was like maybe 29 and it was “easy!” 23 points was plenty. Now I’m in my mid 30s with two kids and wtf. 😅 there’s no way! I’m using the app but I have been eating basically every single point they give me and it’s more like 32 a day. So if I was really eating 23 I’d be eating much differently. It’s nearly impossible unless like you said, zero food issues.. I think also very little social life, probably living on your own so no kids to cook for. It’s a strange thing for sure but it’s such a big market because people want to lose weight. I fear if I just ate “intuitively” which I kind of have for the last 2 years … I’d be overweight, and I have proven that because I have maintained that weight for so long I wanted to try to break out of it.

    • @JessieFritz
      @JessieFritz  Рік тому

      I totally agree on eating intuitively… I’m not there yet. I loosely use my fitness pal and probably will more “strictly” when I can focus myself lol 😂 And I hear you! I’m finally done with WW but I used them like 5 times before I was done done 😅

    I had to come back and comment because I am shook. I ordered some frozen things and one thing was base culture bread. I never tried it before. You are not even exaggerating. The bread slices fit into my actual palm.. so so so tiny. And yes it’s 3 points but it’s like one bite. So bizarre!

    • @JessieFritz
      @JessieFritz  Рік тому

      Right?! It's crazy! And Base Culture bread is super high quality, I think. Just sucks!!
