I hate that so many seventh grade string orchestras have to ruin this song, I know it's easy to play correctly, but playing it and making music is different haha
I could totally see this as being an opening theme for an old Disney film! Just imagine: The film begins with a slow panning of a forest of dark brambles. As the violins come in at 0:26, the title appears: "Sleeping Beauty", covered in rose thorns, in that classical Disney fashion :)
I love how in the sheet music for this in the last like bar of the song is says FRANTICALLY above the notes. Like seriously I've been frantically playing this song since the beginning.
I just got introduced to this music piece and it is such an easy and exciting piece and it sounds so mysterious and mystical, I can’t wait to play it at my next concert
Tiffany Gonzalez Just search it on Google if you're still interested. That's how I find most of my sheet music -- including The Emerald Falcon by Richard Meyers. :P

years ago in my freshman and sophomore year I played this after finding it on smart music specifically to play 1:50 beyond as a violinist and I was so happy when our horrible teacher gave us the song to play
@@Alan-xe4st some people consider it a high school piece, but as long as you and your orchestra has the ability to play it well, then you should totally go for it! I had a lot of fun playing this in 8th grade because it was well within my level.
The Sibelius Concerto in D Minor is NOT petty. Not only is it one of the BEST pieces of the romantic period, but it is also one of the most technically challenging. Besides, the Sibelius is captivating. It's thrilling. It's like riding a roller coaster. And the beginning- G, A, D- is ingenious. Ingenious. I do like Richard Meyer, but this piece is not better than the Sibelius. Or the Schoenberg (Verklaerte Nacht), which I am also obsessed with. Note: Incantations is a good piece, though.
Jacinta Priyadarshini Yes, three notes is ingenious if you want to call it that... O_0. But the very use of the word "obsession" shows a love/interest in something beyond the normal scope. So, you may be biased, and might have picked this if you were presented with it and sibelius at the same time.
1) The beginning of Sibelius CDM IS ingenious. 2) I don't think I'm biased... I've listened to other songs recently that I've liked better than the Sibelius. 3) I don't think I would have picked this over the SCDM had I listened to them at the same time... maybe I'll like this piece better in one or two years. Maybe. 4) When I hear a piece I really love, I die over it. No kidding; I can't help myself from a) replaying it for hours b) playing parts of it on my violin c) freaking out each time I hear it I liked this song, but I didn't die over it.
I played this in my first year of high school and then this year I got left back a year cause I never joined virtual it sucks all my older friends are In the younger orchestra and I’m with kids one and two years older then me
I may be playing this song this year in grade 10. I took a look at the sheet music and I cried because the song is so beautiful but sooooooo hard. Currently working really hard to be able to play this, rather than just sitting though the song.
Well, it's hard for her, so who are you to tell her what's hard in her eyes? Just because you've graduated on to harder stuff doesn't mean you should sit there and mock people for being proud of the stuff they're able to play at their own levels.
Kristian Nunez I played this piece in 6th grade. I was advanced in violin and I started learning viola later in my 6th grade year. I'm now in high school and can play cello, viola, and violin. I'm currently taking bass lessons. :)
+Canderous Ordo But the entire orchestra relys on the bass. It's basically the foundation. I feel that without the bass, it would be hard to be steady as a group. I think this, and I'm a Violist.
+Dain Johnson I feel everyone besides Violin 1's feel the pain of having some boring parts. Basses ARE super important, though. And lol, I'm a cellist, hi.
I played this my freshman year of high school- probably the most memorable piece I've ever played.
Lindsay Russell lol also playing this freshman year
I hate that so many seventh grade string orchestras have to ruin this song, I know it's easy to play correctly, but playing it and making music is different haha
oof
bit of a loser move

what is wrong with you?
erm...
is everything going ok at home?
I love how in the sheet music for this in the last like bar of the song is says FRANTICALLY above the notes. Like seriously I've been frantically playing this song since the beginning.
not at the beginning...and it really isnt that frantic, to be honest
I guess you could say this was a *bewitching* performance (spellbinding also works)
For some reason this made me think of Harry Potter
To me it sounded like Edward Scissorhands
...no. Just...no.
I'm playing this in my next concert and I have the violin solo!! Very excited
the violin/viola part is so amazing
Best. Piece. Ever.
I'm playing this song this year :3

2/4 3/4 and 4/4 in the same song. Kill me
And 5/4
Ben Port can't forget 5/4
yea 5/4 is terrible :( but the cellos part is kinda easy
Its Linkk you're lucky, viola's part is insanity towards the end
It's all actually easy lol
We're playing this for competition... :)
Well I love the song it way better when you actually playing the song
I really love the beginning but the rest is like you are in the woods running from someone or battling someone
What's wrong with running in the woods?
I just got introduced to this music piece and it is such an easy and exciting piece and it sounds so mysterious and mystical, I can’t wait to play it at my next concert
4:03 till the end omg it's beautiful

"Violin 2 section"
I guess one could say that this is an *enchanting piece...
Is that supposed to be a joke? I don't get it.
The Real Flenuan

Second year with this song, it's nice but also aggravating when you begin.
Reminds me of that movie "Coraline"
years ago in my freshman and sophomore year I played this after finding it on smart music specifically to play 1:50 beyond as a violinist and I was so happy when our horrible teacher gave us the song to play
Plus its awesome
this would make a pretty awesome movie soundtrack!
Who's a violin??
Leslie Flores I'm a violin let's go violin power and cello power ;)
Leslie Flores I play violin and viola. :^)

4 people missed the like button
oh dear, it seems five more had the same problem. Common mistake.
18 have. Are people just super clumsy or what?
@Christen Serrao this starts at ~80 bpm
It’s like listening to Harry Potter in Germany.
This song is pretty hard and i played it as a seventh grader last year.
there's way harder songs out there
This is only around grade 4
@@dorom3228 This is a high school piece...i dont like it when younger people play it and make it sound disgusting (not that you are), just in general

@@dorom3228 yes definitely!
I am playing the second violin part now.
i remember this being so much faster??
its actually not that bad but it used to be really difficult for me when i was less experienced
lmao its okay u just have too practice the hard spots over and over again. then your fingers and bow arm will coordinate together :) goodluck
Then make it x2
I remember the game Bioshock when i listen to this piece
i played this
Can't believe that this is so popular
Playing this in orch :P
Outlast vibes in the beginning
Yes!!
Does anyone think that the ending doesn't really fit this kind of piece?
go away George
hey, hey... chill
lol, I know him, it was a joke
I like the song just the way it is
Chill

bunch of kids playing this smh. I played this too when i was young but am in university orchestra now
cool
Great song but first violin solo was too overpowering over second violin and viola solos, needs more balance
hey!
In the piece it most likely calls for it to be that way
everyone says they're playing this lol, like good for you so is everyone other 7th grader in orchestra

i need the bass for the tempo if i happen to look away from the conductor :((
the soloist isn't that good
